About David and Karen McAskill

We live in Georgetown, Ontario, have roots in PEI and have travelled to the island in the summer for many years.

David and Karen McAskill purchased this cottage in 2008

Why David and Karen McAskill chose Sea View

Prime beach real estate is difficult to find in PEI so during our yearly summer visits to the island we took some time to look around knowing the process may take a while. In the course of this activity we quickly established key areas of interest, all of them on the north shore of the island. Our lot actually came up for sale a few days after we had left the island following a few weeks of vacationing and it was purely a coincidence that my wife contacted a local real estate agent to inquire about an unrelated property, only to find out that they were just writing up the paperwork for a lot in Seaview, we knew this was the one so effectively executed the purchase over the phone. Following the purchase of the lot, we ended up working with an outstanding local builder and customized the design to our likings, we were extremely pleased with the outcome and the attention to detail is evident throughout the cottage.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is perched on a "high point" in the land which offers spectacular views of the ocean and the picturesque rolling meadows. You will also be spoiled with a large and beautiful semi-private beach directly in front of the cottage. The beach has multiple natural sand bars, as such the water is shallow and warm, great for kids.

Beautiful location, gorgeous cottage

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful Seaview location and fully equipped cottage had all we needed. Only downfall was it rained most of the week and the road became somewhat impassible. Otherwise wonderful!

Best of PEI!

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed in a few places in PEI before with my family, but this was the first time it was a group trip with my friends. This is definitely the best place in PEI to stay! First of all, if you want to see and explore all of the island, you can do so, because of it's central location. We drove to both of the furthest points, stopping just before each so that we could ride our bikes to both of the lighthouses (North Cape Lighthouse (rode from Harper) and East Point Lighthouse (rode from Basin Head)). It's a short drive to Summerside for large box stores, groceries and liquor stores if you need anything. But it's really close to get to Malpeque Bay for the best oysters and we really enjoyed the fresh lobster suppers, both at restaurants and made at the cottage. Close to deep sea fishing, so when we brought it back to the cottage for dinner, it was the freshest fish I'd ever tasted! We did get to Charlottetown for a day and then an evening as well, taking a brewery tour and then experiencing a lobster supper with amazing chowder, and some of the local bars. If you have a chance please visit Point Prim Chowder house, you won't be sorry you tried the creamy seafood chowder and experienced the most beautiful sunset (about 1.5 hours from the cottage but well worth it!) Everyone talks about the stars but I've never seen the Milky Way so clearly in all of my life. It was nice to be on one of the best beaches that's actually private. My friends raved about the cottage and I was so happy that we booked it! The owners were so helpful, very responsive to any questions and made sure our stay was comfortable.

Perfect Cottage Private Beach

  • 5 of 5

If you want a comfortable cottage with great north shore views and direct access to the beach it doesn't get any better than this. Cottage is well equipped for a relaxing stay and the beach down the stairs directly in front of cottage is almost private. Gorgeous sunset and sunrise views from both inside cabin and on large deck. Short drive to attractions in Cavendish area. Enjoyed star gazing from balcony off upstairs master bedroom. You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay here!

Wonderful Vacation Spot! Super Private!

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautiful and the views amazing. There are only about 5 cottages in the immediate area so our week was extremely peaceful, which is what we wanted. There were days when we were almost the only people on the beach, other than those walking from other beach areas, which was even rare. The house is fully equipped for all your needs, including such items as lotion, shampoo, conditioner, soap, beach chairs, beach cooler, plenty of towels, etc. for us to avoid washing so much. The house is nicely decorated and was super clean. The kids loved the toys available and the playground outside. The location is convenient on the north shore in Seaview, with options to easily reach restaurants, groceries, seafood shops,, etc. within 10-20 min drive. The house sits slightly back from the ocean cliff, although there are views from almost all rooms, with a vaulted great room showing the beautiful ocean in a 180+ degree setting. The sunsets were beautiful as we sat in the chairs on the front deck each night. Because there are so few lights in the area, the sky was clear. We've never seen so many stars in the sky. We woke up in the middle of the night to go outside to see the amazing sky God created for us. The yard is large and since it's so private, the kids can play in the front and rear of the yard. In order to reach the beach, there are about 15 steps down, although sturdy with rails. My 8 and 4 year old easily made it down with their buckets and shovels provided. We would definitely recommend or stay again at this wonderfully private house. The owners were agreeable, kind, and very concerned we were happy with our visit.
