Peace and tranquility

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful relaxing weekend. We brought our dog and she had the time of her life running, hunting for frogs and swimming. The house was comfortable. We enjoyed our coffee on the front deck enjoying the scenery, lunch in cobleskill which is only minutes away, an afternoon nap by the pond followed by a wonderful quiet evening grilling on the back deck. There is plenty to do in the area if you're into venturing out or you can just relax at the house. There are nearby hiking trails with scenic waterfalls, apple orchards, a winery and a distillery. We enjoyed a local garlic festival while staying in summit. Cobleskill is only minutes away if you need fast food, Walmart or local restaurants. We would definitely rent again.

Lovely, private home.

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had an amazing time at this property, it is spacious clean and has everything you need. The front deck was my favorite place to eat meals, the views were insane. The whole place is so peaceful and calm. The front yard is huge, and the grass was freshly cut, our dogs had plenty of space to run around. One of the days of our stay rained and we found everything we needed to do a fire pit and have a good time regardless of the weather. The road to the house was a little rough but hey, we like adventure! The sunrise in this area is absolutely beautiful, by far my favorite. The house owner Doug was very accommodating and welcoming, his furry baby visited us twice and he was very friendly as well. We're already looking forward to coming back. Thank you Doug.

A restful and comfortable getaway

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from a week's stay at this roomy ranch house in Summit, NY. My partner and I planned to attend an opera at Glimmerglass so this seemed like a good location. It's also a pet friendly rental so bringing our three dogs wasn't a problem. The house is spacious and fairly well equipped. Every room has a ceiling fan which makes it comfortable. There's a lot of land around the house but it's hilly, so walking down to the pond or around the property can be a bit of a workout for some. The mountains are beautiful. Doug, the owner (and a great guy), lives nearby and was very responsive when I had a question or need. Cobleskill, where there are supermarkets, a Walmart, fast food places, restaurants, etc. is about 20 minutes away. And, as others have mentioned, the ice cream at the Bent Spoon (which is on the way into Cobleskill) is not to be missed.

Spectacular view!!!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay! We wanted a place that was close enough to the Baseball Hall of Fame, far enough away so we weren't in the bustle of town, beautiful views, and something that could accommodate a family of five! We got all of that and more. The house is fully equipped for cooking/baking, be sure to search all the cupboards and you will find everything you need! The family-room that is off of the kitchen was wonderful for the kids to watch movies in the evening while we prepared dinner! A Walmart is less than 30 minutes , and there are great little shops to stop at all along the way. Be sure to stop at the "Bent Spoon", it's a ice cream shop along the way to Walmart and they have the best and biggest ice-cream cones! My only complaints are the really ruff road in, "just go slow and take your time", and the uneven ground by the front steps! Both of which weren't huge deals. Over all a great getaway from our busy life! FYI leave your master bedroom window and curtains open at night, the view in the morning is breathtaking!

Pictures appear to be from when home was either just purchased or just listed on rental website

  • 1 of 5

I had high hopes based upon the pictures and reviews but was sadly disappointed. The road to get to the house would have gutted a car, it was beyond 'rough'. Upon arrival to the home, there was an old car sitting in the driveway and the weeds were visibly grown up around the property. I had to climb over weeds and there appeared to be missing steps to get up to the properties elevated deck. Very unsafe. The owner lives nearby and his huge dog wandered over to us, scaring us because we had two small dogs and wasn't expecting that. Upon entering the home it was clear it hadn't been used in awhile as there was a horrible musty, moldy smell and the owner had every window open and fan on to try and clear this smell out. The kitchen was a disaster, the fridge was dirty and had a towel underneath it for leaks. The dishwasher had an open gaping hole at the bottom of it with a mouse trap stuck in it which caused me to look closer, there was mouse traps all over the kitchen, even on the floor where my little dogs could get hurt. There were some quarter size holes in the floor. I tried to reach back out to the owner, he had returned my call about property access but then stopped returning my calls and texts. Because the entry to the house was dangerous, the house clearly had a rodent problem and I didn't know what poisons might be around and I couldn't get past the smell I left the house and headed elsewhere on last minute notice in seek of accommodation.
