The house is away from the road, probably about 200 ft. The property is about 2/3 of an acre, and the house is set low on the property, just above the lake. The property slopes from the road down to the lake. Also there is a grove of about 25 mature jack pine trees between the house and the road. The road is not heavily traveled. There is very little noise. It is serene and quiet.

For the serious chef, there is an outdoor stone BBQ and in the kitchen there is a woodburning oven. The living room has a massive fireplace if the nights are cool. Best decision I made was to rent this place!

  • 5 of 5

Hello

I would like to express how glad I was to rent this property for my soccer team. We had planned a weekend away to play some games and bond as a group and this was the perfect place to accomplish that!

The house was very cozy, had plenty of space for the entire group and the only thing we needed to pack with us was food.

The players enjoyed the fact they could take out the paddle boats, sit on the beach by the fire, curl up with blankets on the deck and watch the sun set or be inside playing pool, watching movies or sneak into a quiet part of the house and catch up on some homework.

The price was right and the location was brilliant and I look forward to renting this place again in the near future!

I highly recommend any group to go this route and rent a whole house instead of staying in a hotel. You can have your entire group together all the time under 1 roof.

On top of the great place, the manager of the house was extremely awesome to deal with! She was always just an email away and went out of her way to make this experience first class!

Thank you for helping us create the perfect weekend!

Mark

Potential to be a nice place

  • 2 of 5

I do not like to write a bad review but I decided I should offer some constructive criticism for this one. I have stayed in a great many VRBO properties over the past few years and have always been impressed with them. Unfortunately, I have to say that I cannot say same about this property. The location is fabulous however but the property was very tired. The house is an older character home and is in need of some TLC. Outside the yard area was in need of a good sweeping in both the front and back deck area. The plastic tablecloth on the back deck table still had food on it from the previous guests so we had to clean it before we were comfortable serving food. The back yard area was quite unkept and the grass was in need of a trim or at least a bit of weed eating. The back deck area could have at least been swept as there were a lot of debris here and there. The lumber work on the house was in desperate need of some stain and repair. We all agreed that the beds could have been more comfortable, particularly the second bedroom with bunk on the main floor. Our friends felt the bed had a bit of a slope to it, which they found rather uncomfortable. Unfortunately I have to say I would not recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Hi Rhonda Thank you for your feedback, and we regret that your stay was not as satisfying or comfortable as you would have desired. Also we apologize for the slow response, but the home owner has been travelling out of the country, and was difficult to reach. This is the owner's response to your feedback: "We appreciate your remark that the house cleaning was substandard. We immediately notified the cleaning crew of your experience and concern, and indeed, they had an underperforming member of the cleaning crew, who has now departed. We have had no concerns/complaints about the house cleaning in the past 7 weeks that have elapsed since your stay. In regards to some of your general criticisms that the house is "tired," and would benefit from painting or staining, it is important to keep in mind that The Farm is not a contemporary, modern house. It is a summer home and more like a cabin or cottage, although it is large and spacious and "comfy," but quirky! Most people find that "cottagey" quality to be appealing for a summer vacation. That said, we plan to have the house painted or stained in the next year. In regards to your comments that the bed mattresses were uncomfortable, in the two years that we have listed with VRBO, and given a few hundred people that have now stayed at the Farm, no others have complained about poor mattresses. Also you remarked that the bed frame for the bunk beds was "sloping, and we checked out your observation and impression. We utilized a level in all directions on the bunks, and could not see any sloping . All of this said, we realize that different people have widely varying sensitivities and preferences regarding mattress quality, and we don't doubt that some of your group were dissatisfied with their sleep." Once again we apologize and regret, that your stay was not as satisfactory as we would have liked. Kind regards, Silvia

The Okanagan region of BC is called the "California of Canada" with hot, sunny summer weather, warm swimming lakes, water sports, and numerous other recreational opportunities, such as golf, cycling, hiking, rock climbing, and wine touring. In general, the weather is warm and dry, with minimal rain throughout the year. In fact, the property is just about 45minutes from Canada's only desert region of Osoyoos.

The house is situated in the heart of wine country and located on the "Corkscrew Drive" wine route (Eastside Rd) with dozens of wineries in the surrounding area. Within 5-10 minute drive are some of the top wineries in BC (and Canada!), such as Meyer Family, Blue Mountain, Synchromesh, Wild Goose, Painted Rock, See Ya Later, Blasted Church, and Stag's Hollow. Oliver's renown "Golden Mile" wine region is a 15 minute drive from the house, as are the Naramata Bench wineries. Some of the best local dining options are at the winery bistros, such as at Liquidity, Tinhorn Creek, Hester Creek, Burrowing Owl, Hillside, Lake Breeze and Poplar Grove. Major wine festivals occur in the Fall (October) and Spring (May), which present excellent opportunities for exploring Canada's top wine region. There is a winter wine festival that profiles ice wines. The spring and fall seasons are an excellent time to visit the beautiful Okanagan region. The weather is usually between 15 and 20 degrees in April, May, September and October, just perfect for any kind of outdoor activities, such as sightseeing, hiking and playing golf.

The Thompson-Okanagan region has more than fifty 18-hole courses to choose from in the most spectacular settings. Nearby golf courses include an excellent executive course St. Andrews by the Lake, and championship courses such as Nk'Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course and Fairview Mountain in Oliver BC as well as a 27 hole layout in Osooyos. There is an excellent "walkable" municipal course in Penticton. Lakeside tennis courts are nearby, across the lake in Kaleden. The terrific climbing cliffs and walking/hiking trails of Skaha Bluffs are a 10 minute drive away. A walking/running/ biking path (i.e. the Trans Canada Trail) runs along the west side of the lake from OK Falls to Penticton and it is a continuation of the Kettle Valley bicycling route. Apex Mountain ski resort has been consistently voted as Canada's top small ski resort. It features "champagne powder," sunny days, small crowds, short lift lines and great value for your skiing dollar. There is high quality cross-country skiing at Apex, which is a 45 - to 75 minute drive, depending on weather and road conditions.
