This property is close to everything yet its very own private paradise. I enjoy taking a nice afternoon nap in the hamak, or an early morning kayak journey around the numerous isloated canals. I also like the fact that it is very private but within walking distance to some of my local favorite restaurants, and attractions.
Minutes to the Gulf of Mexico and the Homosassa River by boat. Great place to go fishing, scalloping, swimming with the manatees, Golfing, kayaking, canoeing, boating, bicycling or just sitting on the dock relaxing. Minutes to one of the best wild life state parks in Florida. Ozello Key bird sanctuary is also minutes away. In the winter, you can swim with the manatees in the Springs, and snorkel for scallops in the summer. One boat launch less then 1 mile away, and another planned park and boat launch will be about 500 ft away.
This house was just perfect for our family! Our family of 4 rented this house for a week and truly enjoyed it's old Florida location and accommodations. the house is very roomy - plenty of room for two families! We brought our 22' pontoon and boated everyday! The canal was like a safari ride getting to the river, we loved it!! We enjoyed the river and the gulf, we are familiar with Homosassa and appreciate the down home feel of the area. We had a great time tubing and scalloping in the gulf and jumping from the rope swing in the spring. The home is clean and very comfy. My son (10) loved the game room and my daughter (16) enjoyed her own space upstairs. We had a few different friends visit for the day and they also loved it. Tim provides everything you need for cooking and cleaning, We didn't want to leave today and hope to rent again in the future. (Tim: Thanks for the welcome gifts, very nice!)
My family spent a fantastic week at the Scallop Palace! The home was extremely clean and inviting and had everything we could have possibly needed. Easily accommodated my family of seven. Limited out on scallops every day and caught some nice fish in the grass flats. The springs were the perfect end to a long day in the gulf. The kitchen was nicely outfitted and made it easy to prepare our catch. We rented a 24' pontoon boat from Homosassa Springs Marina and it fit nicely on the dock behind the house.
We will definitely be back!
Tim goes above and beyond to make his place comfortable for guests. Thanks so much!
The Scallop Palace was extremely clean and well-appointed. The host has done a great job of making his home feel like our home. Loved the dock and one of us even caught a few fish which were quickly returned to the water. We enjoyed the short drive to Homosassa for shopping and exploring. The nearby restaurants looked very nice but we did most of our cooking at the Scallop Palace. However, we did stop in at the Museum Café and learned so much about the local area from "Bo" the owner and master printer. Celebrating our mother's 89th birthday at the Scallop Palace was the right place for our family. Mom and Dad were glad to have us all together and they enjoyed the get-away from their home.
Homosassa Wildlife State Park 2 minutes away, world class scallop grounds 15 minutes away. Waterfront restaurants, entertainment within 1 mile
