Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Stuart - Loft On California Avenue

Newly Restored Bungalow Loft Apartment In Historic Downtown Stuart, Florida

Ideal for a romantic getaway for two, or a single person traveling for business or pleasure, buried in tropical foliage, the Loft on California is cozy 400 square-foot 2nd story walk up bird's nest atop of a meticulously restored 1926 bungalow style private home located in the Frazier's Addition garden district in historic downtown Stuart, Florida.

The roofline apartment is packed with upgraded features including king size bed, large bathroom with sparkling custom artisan tiled shower stall, floor to ceiling stained glass windows, newly remodeled full kitchen with stone counter tops, wood floors, sitting area with large flat screen TV, cable and WiFi.

The living area is nearly doubled by the secluded adjacent outdoor deck/lounge area surrounded by tropical foliage and overhead trellis.

Unit access is via private exterior staircase to a programmable keypad entry door. You can program your own private code so there is no fussing with lost keys.

If cooking in the spotless new fully equipped kitchen is not on your agenda, historic downtown Stuart, situated on the waterfront of the St. Lucie River, is a five minute walk to multiple restaurants and bars covering all budgets from waterfront fine dining and seafood, to casual Thai/sushi, sports bar and Italian food. Dress it up or dress it down with shorts and flip flops...anything goes in the relaxed and casual south Florida environment.

The centerpiece of downtown Stuart is the historic Lyric Theater performing arts center offering great seasonal live music and theatrical performances. Downtown also offers great shopping for clothes, fine art, crafts, salons, yoga and massage therapy.

Pristine beaches are a 10 minute drive or a 20 minute bike ride.

About Bruce Wall

Kim and Bruce are a very warm, welcoming and laid back couple who live onsite. They are there if you need them, but otherwise are out of sight if you don't. All of the stained glass in the residence was designed and by Kim. Now a retired glass artist, Kim is a professional pastry chef who enjoys creating edible art. Bruce, who has worked in the aerospace industry for many years, is a seasoned water sportsman who enjoys paddle boarding, surfing, fishing and scuba diving. Don't let him convince you to try out his Indo Board balance trainer, you may end up on your rear end with a bruised ego...nothing that an ice cold beer won't heal.

Bruce Wall purchased this apartment in 1989

Why Bruce Wall chose Florida Central Atlantic Coast

Whether is it is a lovable puss-in-boots or a 1926 old Florida bungalow, Kim and Bruce are always looking for a good rescue project. In a sad state of neglect and disrepair, in 1989 they fell in love with and purchased this charming bungalow style home and over the years have meticulously and personally restored this home to it's original charm, yet have elevated it to a new level by tastefully integrating modern features and upgrades.

What makes this apartment unique

Old Stuart and the Loft on California turn the clock back to a 1960's Key West back-street vibe with great privacy and immense charm, without the hustle bustle of present day Key West. With shopping, dining, recreational and leisure amenities within walking distance or a short drive, all you need for a great stay with us is within a lazy arm's reach.

This is a great place to stay in Stuart. It is very private and artistically decorated. The owners have added many details to make the loft very special!

Great rental ... felt like home

We loved this rental and will definitely book it again if we return to downtown Stuart, FL. The space is cozy and efficient. We especially enjoyed hearing live music every night from the private deck.

Loved it! Highly recommended!!

Apt. was beautiful, tiny and awesome at the same time. They way they maximized space was clever and inspirational. Both my fiend and I wanted to stay. Indefinitely! Loved the colors and the lovely light show as the sun shone through the pink and blue stained glass. The outdoor space was also spectacular and the owners were friendly and helpful all the way. Not at all intrusive, just available to assist if needed. Fabulous find.

Amazing rental

  • 5 of 5

Ok so this place is small, however, it was probably the best rental i have ever stayed in. It was incredibly clean and cozy. Top notch kitchen area and bathroom/shower. There is an outdoor patio area where you could eat breakfast or have a night cap. It had absolutley everything my girlfriend and I needed. This is the perfect rental for a couple looking for somewhere to stay in the Stuart area. Walking distance to a nice brew pub and terra fermata which has a good night scene and live music. Bruce was very hospitable and responded in a timely manner for any questions that we had regarding the rental. Would definetly rent again.

In love with this little place!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here to visit Mom and Barrie, with my 32 yo daughter. She slept in the big bed in the bedroom, I slept on the couch (cooler). Slept better there than at home! Every day! It's really tiny in there but just designed divinely. Who ever did that place sure knew what they were doing. I would like, buy it!..The only thing I would change would be to put 2 twins in the bedroom instead of the big bed there now, to allow for more movement. But I'm not a couple. :-)

The upstairs deck is just wonderful too, and especially in the evenings, the ocean breeze and the waving palm trees, and the music far off, what a delight. We walked old town downtown all the time to the cafes and little shops, was so nice! We hit the Tailgate market on Sunday, and Osceola Street Cafe had the best food, definitely don't miss that.

I have 4 sisters that go down there to visit Mom and Barrie, and we sure will be telling them about this cute little place.

I want to go back RIGHT NOW. Highly recommended.
