Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cottage in West Colorado Springs - The Nest at the White Yarrow

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 3 adults

A warm, garden cottage nestled in a grotto in the heart of Manitou. This newly renovated boutique (320 sq. ft.) dwelling dates to 1896, and is seconds to springs, coffee houses, shops, trails & spas. Half block from Manitou Avenue but surprisingly private, and surrounded by nature.

Full-sized, memory foam bed in a separate bedroom. Living room is perfect for lounging, and the couch becomes a queen-sized bed for one additional adult guest or two children. The kitchenette has a half-sized fridge, toaster oven, microwave and double sink.

Soak up the intimate environment of the garden, with limestone retaining wall and patio seating, both in front of the cottage and in a nature nook off of the bedroom. Sunlight beams into the cottage through windows on all sides, and through a skylight over the shower. Sun-filtering blinds and a gas stove are perfect for those days when you just want to curl up in a soft, warm blanket and read while you sip hot tea.

Need an additional place on site for other family members (up to 2) to stay? We have a suite available in the main house on the property.

Why Christopher Dwyer chose Colorado Springs

The 1919 Main House, 1896 Cottage and 1/3 acre grounds are a surprising mix of private and ultra-convenient.

The owners are in the process of evolving their property into a center for community engagement, a place where people, groups and communities can learn how to become more self-reliant, abundant and joyful in this time of societal transition.

What makes this cottage unique

Boutique, private cottage that feels like it's in a nature bubble, but that is half a block from historic downtown. Inquire with hosts about local connections and additional on-site and off-site services and packages, from healing treatments and herbs, to yoga instruction, to healthy food products, to discounts at local restaurants and the local spa.

Guestbook comments from the owner

From the moment we arrived, we were treated as family by our hosts. The privacy of our charming cottage was special, yet just one block from downtown activities . .. a most memorable holiday. We plan to return again and again to this lovely mountain retreat.

Great location for in town dining and drinking...beautiful interior and nice outside space. A little snug but tastefully done..French yogurt was a nice touch and Christopher was a friendly host. We enjoyed having the chickens as neighbors.

Cute, quiet and convenient

  • 4 of 5

We felt like we were in a cabin in the woods rather than a cabin one block from town. We enjoyed our stay and loved the accommodations. It did take my 6'1" husband a little time to remember to duck his head when entering the bedroom. LOL. Thanks for everything Chris!

Cozy, quaint seclusion in downtown Manitou Springs

  • 5 of 5

Less than 100 yards from Manitou Ave, but with a beautiful secluded feel, this tiny cottage made for a great base of operations and welcome retreat at the end of the day. We found it well appointed, plus some really nice touches such as local honey, a French press for the supplied fair trade coffee, plus some delicious home made treats awaiting us on arrival. The little bricked courtyard out front is a delightful bonus for relaxing in the mountain air.

Our hosts could not have been better. An interesting and fun couple, they were extremely attentive the couple times we had "needs", but otherwise invisible. We'd come back in a heart beat!

The highlight of our vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in a few different places during our trip to Colorado, but this one was the best. What set this place at the top was the overall experience itself. For the property itself: there is private parking, which is really nice in downtown Manitou Springs, it's detached, cozy and well equipped, and most important: the hosts were incredible. This listing is in a guest house separated from the main house by a courtyard. It's within walking distance of downtown and many nearby hiking trails. The whole stay, my girlfriend was buzzing about how perfect everything was. There are chickens, a bunny, a cat and bees that she couldn't stop checking on (to note, none of these are obtrusive or disturbing in the slightest). Speaking with the host, so many details seemed to have a story behind them and also seemed well executed with intent and purpose. But what they have executed doesn't end at functionality or the basics of a place to stay. The hosts have created a little paradise that is quite obviously a labor of their hearts. I highly recommend this property for couples looking for a cozy and memorable stay in Manitou Springs.

Cozy, comfortable cottage

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our weekend stay at this property. The location is just a quick walk to restaurants and shopping on the main drag in Manitou Springs. The bed and sofa bed were comfortable and all linens were nice.

Chris, the owner, greeted us with freshly baked muffins shortly after we arrived. He also had a few helpful tips for exploring the area.

Overall, great location, comfortable accommodations and friendly hosts.
