Cathy was fantastic! She made sure through email or phone calls that things were going well. Great piece of property so close to mass and Ny. A great spot to have a vacation. There’s a lot to do if you are an outdoors person !!

My family stayed between Christmas and New Years and absolutely love the house. The light coming into the living room in the afternoon is gorgeous and you sit by the fire.

It’s a cozy place with original mid-century detail. And Kathy was a great host who had the fridge stocked with a few essentials that made it easy for us in the mornings. Would stay again in a hearbeat.

Great place

  • 4 of 5

First I will say the house is very nice. In many ways it is nicer than the pictures show and the owners may want to have a pro photographer shoot it sometime.

The house is well stocked, very clean and nicely set up. The house does show it's age in spots, but that is part of the charm.

During our stay the weather was extremely cold. We did have issues getting the 3 bedrooms all to comfortable temperatures. The house has one heating zone. When we made the master bedroom comfortable, the other two were very hot. Make the 2 bedrooms comfortable and the rest of the house, especially the master, was on the cold side. In our case a space heater in the master would have been welcome and solved the issue.

I certainly recommend this house for others and will consider staying again.

Comfy Cottage in the Woods

  • 4 of 5

Kathy is a great host and keeps this sweet little house very clean and comfortable. The exterior appears to be somewhat modern as opposed to inside which takes you back in time. It reminds of a writer's cottage where one comes to escape a hectic city life. It is very relaxing (no television) and the location is convenient to the many boarding schools in the area. There were breakfast items in the fridge and coffee was provided as well. Definitely a good value.

Sweet little house.

  • 4 of 5

This is a very comfortable little house between Canaan and Salisbury. Very private ,clean and welcoming. All the beds are very nice. I loved that Kathy had eggs ,muffins ,butter, coffee and creamer and more in the fridge waiting for us. We had Wifi, no TV, but when my grandkids came to visit there were board games to play and places to go. We ended up staying a couple days extra. Very happy here.

Nice place near Berkshire county.

  • 4 of 5

On Friday, July 8th we made it to our cabin, got settled in with the help of the owner, Kathy Hostlnson, and had a good meal at a nearby restaurant. We rented this cabin for the whole month so we could enjoy all the Berkshires has to offer including, and especially, Tanglewood. Overall we spent almost all of July in this cabin in N. Canaan, Conn. It looks very much out of the fifties with three bedrooms, two baths, full kitchen and living room, plus two enclosed porches on about an acre on US44. It has no TV which I liked. N. Canaan has five pizza parlors and not much else, but it is near Berkshire County, MA. Then we spent the month touring the area mostly in Berkshire County Massachusetts running from Sheffield in the south to Williamstown in the north, with a little bit in northwest Connecticut. We toured all the major quaint New England towns in the county, attended six concerts at Tanglewood (two were chamber concerts), and two musicals (Ragtime and The Music Man) produced by the Berkshire Theatre Group. The cabin, its really a house, was well located for access to this area. Kathy was a big help with anything we needed. She even brought us raspberries from her garden.
