This is a perfect get away from everyday life.

  • 5 of 5

Set in the woods, this home is ideal for those that want to get away from everyday life. It is the perfect place to relax. The view from the living room windows creates the illusion that you are in the middle of nowhere. However, there is much to do within a short drive of the house if you choose to do so. The Stop and Shop grocery store is about a mile away for and the wine and spirit store has a large selection of wines and beers.

The house and grounds were so inviting. The mattresses are firm and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped to allow creation of good food. However, if you are not interested in cooking, a full range of restaurants are an easy drive away. One of the best parts of our stay were the farm fresh eggs provided by our host.

My three sisters and I spent two nights and days there and enjoyed every minute of it. We ate breakfast out one day but prepared the remaining meals at the house since we had all traveled some distance to spend a weekend together. We shopped in Great Barrington, picnicked in a roadside rest area, and enjoyed the beginning of leaves changing from green to yellow, orange and red. We all agreed that if we could pull off another "sisters" weekend, we'd want to do it here since the house was so very comfortable and our host incredibly welcoming .

Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

Kathy's hospitality made us feel right at home- and not in a museum! We were in the area for a wedding and the location was perfect, not only for getting to the wedding, but also for exploring in our free time. Of the many waterfalls nearby, we went to Campbell Falls, minutes from the house. But, there was plenty of space outside the house for my two young grandchildren to safely run about -- discovering a flying squirrel living in a tree on the property added to their adventures. It's a great place for families and friends to gather, spacious but warm.

Thanks for having us!

Beautiful house in the hills south of Canaan, CT

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 3 days in northern CT and the Berkshires. The beds are comfortable and the house very open and friendly with lots of windows and well equipped kitchen. The groceries were great - Thanks Kathy! We enjoyed the easy drive to any of the hikes and lakes in the area. The washer and dryer are almost from the museum but worked great! We actually really admired the "made in the USA" appliances! All in great shape. A very charming and clean place! Don't miss it!

Charming, clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We were in the Canaan CT area for a family wedding and gathering. Four adults, two kids and a dog stayed in this house and we all loved our time there! The house is very charming, spacious, clean and comfortable, (including the beds). The kitchen is so well equipped and we really appreciated the coffee and groceries that were left for us in the refrigerator. There is a nice big yard and the house is set far from the road so it was very quiet and peaceful! We really enjoyed our stay!

It's has an expansive, well mown grounds, an old but functioning 1950s modernist bungalow .

  • 4 of 5

The property was old, showing its age but clean and well kept. Kathleen was there to welcome us. She was thoughtful, left great provisions in the refrigerator. There are many spaces to lounge around. There were two window unit air conditioners. It was hot, mid July and the living room was sweltering, but there was a fan. Bathrooms were clean with adequate towels. The sheets weeee crisp and fresh. Overall a nice and quiet property with a nice and hospitable host.

Thank you Kathy and Tom for providing an affordable, welcoming vacation home.

We were a party of two staying for a few days, and you property could have accommodate a whole family! It's a perfect location for touring the many interesting attractions in North West Connecticut's surrounding communities.
