Know before you go

  • 3 of 5

While the location and general ambiance are pleasant, as other reviewers have described, there at some things you need to know before you go. One is that the cabin is very small, basically one big room, and there is very little floor space for luggage and other things you might bring, and there are no luggage racks. The small closet is full of cleaning supplies, and the drawers are full of paper plates and plastic cutlery, so there is no place to hang or stow clothing. The lamp wattage is dim, and there is no lighting for reading in bed. The dining table is very tiny, barely enough room for two people. There is an outdoor kitchen, but it needs to be cleaned. There were ancient leftovers in the fridge. Again, it is a nice location and the cabin itself is nicely decorated, but it could be more livable, and the place needs a little more upkeep.

Owner's Response: We always welcome everyone's reviews..sorry that your stay was not what you expected. We have pictures posted on our website of the actual cabin.. We make it clear that it is a cottage mainly for a couple... Which means it's a small cottage. We do keep our cleaning supplies in the bottom of the closet, but there is a clothes rod to hang clothes on. The table is only meant for a couple. As far as the outdoor kitchen, it's very hard to keep it clean, as we live on the lake with critters and cypress trees.. Sorry about the kitchen and refrigerator, we were gone most of this month to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and we were not there to double check everything. We thank you again for the review, as this lets us know what we need to work on. Gods Blessings, Dennis & Deana

The Best!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was just Awesome! As a foster parent I try to make this little boy always have a smile. This child had a blast. The little cottage was just perfect for him , me and my wife. He caught bunches of fish and being as hot as it is there was always a breeze on the pier while we was there. The outdoor kitchen with TV was perfect. Worms to fish with and all the ice you need were a great incentive. I recommend this little quiet place to everyone. Thanks Mr. And Mrs. Johnson for the hospitality.

Relaxing and Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed at Cypress Pier & Cottage over the 4th of July weekend and were very impressed with the hospitality and how beautiful the property and views were. Upon our arrival, we found the room spotless and were pleasantly surprised to find a basket of treats, as well as a basket in the bathroom filled with things like toothbrushes, mouthwash, sunscreen, and deodorant in case we forgot to bring anything (and I had forgotten deodorant so was quite grateful for this). When we arrived the room was set at a comfortable 60°F, which back home would be chilly, but here it was appreciated as the average temperature outside during our stay was 96°F!!!

Dennis in particular was so very helpful...I was able to text him during any hour and he would respond right away. Anytime we needed anything like fresh towels or bed linens, all I had to do was text him and he would make sure we had what we needed in an appropriate amount of time.

The views were amazing! Especially the sunsets! We were able to rent Dennis' boat and he gave us a map of the lake so we were able to find our way around. I took a ton of pictures and once I've gone through them I will post some on the Facebook page for CP&C.

I also want to comment that though the town was small and almost like a ghost town, it was a very cool town with all of the old oil rigs around. Also, every single person we ran into was so friendly, much friendlier than back home! They all gave true meaning to Southern Hospitality! There was a bait shop a few miles down the road from where we stayed and the owners were so friendly, they even offered to take us out fishing on the lake to show us the hot spots! They also served food there (you must try their Boudin Balls and their sweet iced tea). There was also a Mexican restaurant not far from where we stayed that had delicious food, though they didn't have their liquor license yet.

I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a relaxing fishing vacation, and I am hoping some day we can return!

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had am amazing stay at this little studio cottage. It was the perfect couples getaway even though this couple has been married 30 years. We had every meal out on the pier. The pier system itself is wonderful. The cypress trees keep it cool even in the heat of the day. The lights on the pier made us able to fish late into the evening. It's a good ways from town so be sure to bring any food you may want. There is a grill and a microwave to prepare some easy meals. We will be back..

So quaint comfortable and beautiful. Views are fabulous!

  • 4 of 5

We had an incredible relaxing romantic time. Cottage is perfect as long as you prepare for no kitchenette or accompanying amenities (we brought food and grilled outside). Deck and boat space so nice! Deck and outdoor kitchen was not clean though-would have been nice to have that washed, spider web free, and ready for our use-but that was the only drawback. Thank you for a pleasant lakeside vacation! Definitely would go back...

Owner's Response: So glad y'all enjoyed it.. Come back anytime! No, we don't have a kitchen or kitchenette.. But we do make that very clear on our VRBO post... We are hoping to add a kitchen to the cottage this fall... The outdoor kitchen is the best we have to offer at this time, and we can wipe the counter tops off and knock down the spider webs everyday, but when you live on the lake that's just a negative side to it! Lol.. Stuff blows off them cypress tress and the spiders love all the wood! Lol... Sorry that was a problem for y'all.. We hate it as well, you can ask my husband, I grip about it all the time! Lol.. But it's just one disadvantage of living on the lake! Hope to see y'all again soon and we are sorry that this was a problem for y'all... Next time just give us a call and we don't mind at all coming down the hill and fixing whatever the problem is.. That's what we are here for. Dennis & Deana

Beautiful and Relaxing Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and i stayed in this cottage the beginning of June and absolutely loved it. It was so peaceful and quiet! The deck is amazing, we spent most of our saturday sitting by the lake fishing. The owners are extremely nice and welcoming (even included a little snack basket in our room). We will definitely be staying here again in the future. Thanks to much for such a wonderful weekend.
