Waikoloa Colony Villas 1306 Review

Excellent two-bedroom townhouse. Booking the place was fast and easy, with excellent communication from Heidi Bogart (property manager). There were a few glitches, but were easily resolved by Heidi. We especially liked the full-sized washer/dryer (not the small stack-up models common in other places), french-door refrigerator and upgraded cable TV system, including Showtime. The facility was well-organized, clean and had no evidence of bugs. The location of the facility was great, as we spent most of the time golfing in Waikoloa, Mauna Lani, Kona and Waimea - with an occasional trip on Saddle Road to Hilo. (Our son needed to get a loco moco fix at Cafe 100 and Zippys.) We frequently come back to the Big Island for family vacations and will definitely like to come back to this condo.

Big Island Summer

My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful first trip to the big island due in large part to the great experience we had at the villa. I've convinced my wife condo rentals are the way to go vs. hotels, this trip sealed the deal. I could not stand the thought of spending 9 days in a hotel room. My daughter loved having her own bed/bathroom and spreading out on the king size bed. My wife and I enjoyed the upper level "master suite" with walk in closet. Nice to unpack and have room to spread out. The Keurig in the kitchen was nice if you're used to brewing your coffee that way. A reusable filter pod is available so you can enjoy the ever-present Kona coffee whenever the urge for a cup may arise. Quick tip: food is expensive, after picking up our rental car we drove straight to Costco to pick up essentials (bottled water, cereal, wine, chips, etc) and saved a ton of $. Target and Walmart also near to Costco. Recommend as there is little for groceries near the villa. Closest grocery store is in Queens Market (1mi.), but expect to pay top dollar for the convenience. Great beaches are close (15 min. to Hapuna, Beach 69) with amazing snorkeling @ Beach 69. Heidi was easy to contact and very nice allowing us to check-in a couple hours early. Overall a really great family vacation with wonderful memories we'll be able to share for a lifetime. The villa was the icing on the cake.

Pros:

+ Unit in excellent condition, spacious, great layout and quiet.

+ Extremely close to pool/hot tub.

+ Open kitchen, well stocked.

+ All the beach gear you'll need; chairs, umbrella, boogie boards and beach towels.

+ Lava Lava Beach Club

+ Great location, short drives to everything in the Waikoloa Beach Resort area.

Cons:

- Garage is small. Rented an Hyundai Sonata and it barely fit, I found it easiest to back in. Had to pull out for others to get in. No way Mustang, Jeep or full sized car would fit.

- After the first day you'll be trying to figure out how to extend your vacation.

Fantastic Experience

My husband and I spent a wonderful week over New Years in this beautiful villa. I can't think of a more magical spot to celebrate the new year. We have completely fallen in love with the Island and left thinking there is so much more we wanted to do. We stayed very busy while we were there and had just settled in to full relaxation mode when it was time to leave. The villa was very conducive to this. We were completely comfortable and felt like we were home. The unit is lovely and beautifully decorated. It is spacious and filled with light. Both King size beds were very comfortable and there was a great pillow selection. All the towels and linen seemed brand new and were plentiful. The kitchen is fully stocked and has all modern conveniences including a top of the line new refrigerator. There is a lanai off the upstairs bedroom and a large porch off the dining room. We especially enjoyed this and sat out each morning drinking coffee and watching the birds. My grandchildren loved running around on the grassy lawn. The pool was directly across the street. The location is perfect. There are lots of walking paths and shopping near by. And, of course, the magnificent ocean! We liked Hapuna Beach and spent a lot of time on the beach and cove at the nearby Fairmont resort where we snorkeled and went paddle boarding. Our favorite activities were taking a long day trip to Volcano Park and hiking into the Pulu Valley. Breathtaking views and waterfalls along the way.

I have to mention Heidi Bogart, the booking agent and property manager. I had a good feeling about her from our first correspondence and my instincts proved to be correct. She is highly responsive, professional and very pleasant. She and the property owners were quick to correct anything we asked. This includes bringing us a brand new refrigerator on New Years Eve and a $75 gift certificate to a local restaurant for our inconvenience. We would definitely book this unit again with her. I give my highest recommendation.

My wife and I recently spent 5 days at 776710, Waikoloa Colony Villas (home just yesterday, Dec 7). The condo had recently been painted and was exceptionally clean and bright. Kitchen, with island layout, granite counter tops is very functional and well equipped, with appliances and utensils that appeared to be mostly new. Better, if not the best, of any condo we have stayed at over the years. One bedroom and large bathroom on upper floor and second bedroom and full bath on main floor makes unit very suitable for family or two couples. The patio door, and smallish lanai look out on to green space, landscaping and golf course. They face more or less west, so some very stunning skies as sun was setting. Lanai is relatively private from other's, and was quiet during our stay. With table and 4 chairs, all meals at condo were outside.

Attached garage is a little snug for getting car in and out, but useful for unloading and loading suitcases. The unit has one designated parking stall as well, which we used other than the above noted activities.

We did not use the on site pool, tennis court or fitness room, but they also appeared clean and well kept.

The area has lots to offer, with beautiful beaches 10 minutes away by car, funky Hawi 30 - 40 minutes away (really good Sat market), hiking into Pololu Valley not far from Hawi. Beach chairs, some beach toys and insulated soft cooler pack that are there were great for taking refreshments to beach.

We meet with Heidi one afternoon, she is very accommodating and good to work with. We most certainly would recommend her to find your Waikoloa vacation stay, and would recommend this unit to friends and family.
