Peaceful, charming retreat to unplug and reconnect with nature.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful getaway for adults and children. We stayed in the Captains Quarters. The Grandkids loved exploring all the nooks, crannies and secret spaces. My daughter and I enjoyed morning coffee on the decks and bird watching. It is a wonderful place to unplug and enjoy nature. Mr. Hopp was available to answer any questions. While there is much to explore in the immediate area, we were drawn by the prospect of finding geodes, it is equally likely that you will feel compelled to stay put and drink in your surroundings.

What a fun place!

  • 5 of 5

Our family really enjoyed being here. Any concerns or needs we had during our stay were responded to promptly and kindly. So glad this treehouse had AC, we would have suffered without it. With a heat index above 100 most of our stay, I didn't get to explore the 10 acre wood as I would have liked, but our kids did. Thanks Bob for sharing this unique and beautiful place. It's like a cross between glamping and a suite hotel. <3 We are telling all our friends that plan a trip to visit Historic Nauvoo to check it out. We'd not hesitate to come back.

Wow!!!

  • 5 of 5

Recently stayed in the Captains Quarters and my family and I loved it. The house is beautifully decorated and had enough space for my family of five. The kids loved walking the the trails and playing with London & Paris. We did not see much of Bob but he was very prompt in responding to calls & texts while we were there. Also, I would not recommend using the vrbo app for directions since they led us to a gravel road with corn fields all around. Lol Follow the directions Bob sends you. Thank you Bob for being so helpful and for creating this beautiful place. My family and I look forward to returning soon.

A Hidden Treasure Amongst The Trees

  • 5 of 5

Sleeping in a Treehouse; everyones dream. Found ours in Nauvoo, IL. Stayed the last week of May. Hidden in the woods "Captains Quarters", a hidden treasure!!! Mother Nature was on our side the whole time. The rays of sun shining upon us! The wind whistling through the trees. The birds chirping away, such a beautiful sound. Coffee & reading a book on the back porch was so relaxing. Grilled Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner on the grill every day (I'm a chef at heart & love to grill). All the nautical decor were so unique & cool. The LED lights in the living room & bedroom set the mood differently each day. The outside outhouse (bathroom) was quite interesting to say the least. The outside shower - was absolutely different, something you find on Pinterest, and I loved it!!! I don't know if it was the time of month we stayed, but hardly no bugs, which was a plus & made our stay there even more enjoyable. Even thou a very small town, there was so much to do. Never caught a catfish until we fished the Mississippi!!! Loved it!!! Fished almost every day. Sights to see: The Nauvoo Temple is extremely gorgeous both day & night. Went to Old Nauvoo - so much history to learn about. We really enjoyed going through and learning about Johnathan Browing's home & his gunsmith shop. Bob Hopp who is the owner of Captains Quarters Treehouse was an amazing host & very accomodating to our needs. Very pleasant to talk to. He has done an amazing job in the creation of Captains Quarters and I would recommend it to anyone!!!! Only a couple of things one needs to know: 1 - the Treehouse is in the woods so there is a good hike to get to it; so pack limited. 2 - it would be nice if there was dry wood chopped & ready to burn during your stay. We were lucky to find quite a bit throughout the woods, but some may not be so lucky especially if its been raining. I had a blast staying at Captains Quarters, my home away from home!!! Sleeping in a Treehouse can now be marked off my bucket list, and I can say I stayed in IL! Thank you Bob for sharing this wonderful adventure with us, and can't wait to see what else is in store for the future! The Emery Family (Frank & Betty). Berea, OH

Unique quiet get away

  • 5 of 5

This is not like any place I have ever been. I've been camping and this is better. I've been to hotels and this is more private. Truly a vacation for the memory books. The only advice I would give people planning a stay... pack light and wear sneakers. It's a steep path through the woods to get to the Captains Quarters so you don't want to have to carry too much but you will not be disappointed! Bob was great and Paris and London are the sweetest dogs around (just don't leave your burger on a low table 😉) We hope to return for another weekend getaway.

We loved it. Bob was a great host, the tree-house was peaceful and relaxing!

Wonderful long weekend. Quaint cabin with wonderful nautical theme, the owner is a United States Navy Veteran! Lots of nature and hiking trails. Used the gas grill for dinner and breakfasts. Outside second story shower, nothing compared to looking up through the trees at stars! Very close to Nauvoo, Ft. Madison and Keokuk. We took that triangle trip. Antique mall in Keokuk was great!

Paris and London were co-hosts and fun to be around! The Atlanta Yeti
