Yoji Apartments are in a 70-year-old Japanese house the middle of the village yet located just 90 steps from the bottom of the Shinyu Pair Lift, and just a minute walk to great restaurants in the center of the village and free hot springs.
Guests can rent one apartment or both (as they have separate entrance doors but share one main entrance). Guests staying next door at Yoji House can have friends stay at the apartments as well to be next door (their is a shared door from the Apartment 2 apartment if desired). Apartment 1 has a larger kitchen. Apartment guests have access to a ski gear storage space, drying room and a washer and dryer.
Yoji Apartments are close to several free hot springs, a few nicer hot springs that you can pay to use, some great restaurants, and near the Shinyu Pair Lift so you only have to carry gear a few steps every day. The owners are the Managing Partners of The Schneider Hotel up on the mountain and are nearby and available for emergencies or if any problems arise.
If you are coming by car we do have a parking spot available, but you must reserve in advance. The apartments are just a few minutes walk from the Chuo Bus Stop or the Grand Hotel Bus Stop, very convenient location so very little carrying bags.
Other Things to Note:
Guests at The Yoji House & Apartments can receive discounts for rentals at The Schneider Hotel, which is a 2 minute walk from the top of the Shinyu Pair Lift, and those that rent can use the ski storage space at the hotel. Also ask about welcome drink discounts at The Craft Room and Base Camp Bar at The Schneider Hotel.
Nozawa Onsen is a small village and we live here year round. We want our guests to have a great time, but also to respect the village rules and our neighbors, so we expect guests to not be super loud while outside the lodge at night and early morning and to b friendly and respectful when interacting with neighbors. There is a free onsen just across the street and we expect guests to observe local customs when enjoying the baths. Have a blast, but respect the village!
My wife, Natsuko and our son Tai live here in this beautiful traditional mountain village. I have been snowboarding in Nozawa Onsen since 1997 and am originally from Oregon. My wife is from northern Japan (Yamagata) and our son enjoys living in Japan and spending summers in Oregon. Our house is on the top floors of this traditional property and we converted the bottom two floors into comfortable apartments.
Property Manager/Owner purchased this apartment in 2014
We loved this old house from the moment we stepped into and and began renovating soon after. We have kept the traditional look of the house while renovating the apartments with brand new bathrooms, showers and kitchens (Apartment 2 has a kitchenette). We hope you will enjoy staying with us.
This great location is close to all the restaurants and shops in the heart of the village but just 90 steps from the bottom of the Shinyu Pair Lift, so very little walking with gear - great for families with kids old enough to ride ski lifts.
