Lovely villa, massive grounds, good location

  • 5 of 5

The villa was just over an hour away from Alicante airport straight up the A7 and the drive is very easy with very little traffic (middle of the day Friday). We called ahead and spoke to Tom and he said he would open the gates for us.

We drove in and realised how big (and well kept) the grounds are. Tom walked us around the villa which is pretty big as well and very well equipped with Sky TV, dishwasher, washing machine, iron + board, fridge freezer, oven, microwave, hair dryer, airers, iPod dock, board games, gas BBQ, DVD player...

The only thing missing is air conditioning. The outside temperature got up to 34°C when we were out there and the main bedroom got a little bit warm as it's in the sun all day. There were fans and when you open all the windows and doors a very good breeze flows through the property keeping it cooler. However at night you have to close the shutters as the mozzies do get in (buy your mosquito repellent plug-ins out in Spain as they are half the price of the UK). Having said all this it is only a minor point and in no way spoiled our holiday.

Outside: I'm a shade chaser as I melt in the sun and the beauty of the outside space is that there is lots of shade (heaven for me) but loads of sun spots for the worshippers out there. Lots of seats, 2 hammocks and 4 sun beds for relaxing on.

The pool is fantastic and plenty big enough with a maximum depth of about 5 foot.

Lots of lights outside so the BBQ can be used late in to the night and outside plug sockets allow you to plug in your music. There is also a wonderful view of the mountains as well. Parking your car in the lean to garage furthest away from the house and it is in the shade all day long.

Local town Olleria is 5 minute drive away and has 2 biggish supermarkets. We preferred Consum. It has a good meat, fish, fruit and booze selection. Spirits are definitely cheaper out there with a bottle of Gordon's gin costing €7. There are a few bars/cafes in the town and a few restaurants which we didn't try. We eat out at la barraca de colon in Ontinyent which is nothing to look at but did lovely tapas. They speak no English I speak no Spanish but pointing and a translation app got us a lovely big lunch for €40 for the four of us.

We also drove up to Valencia for the day which is about 45 minutes away and is really simple to get to. We parked at Esale de Commerce.

All in all we would definitely recommend this villa and plan on going back again someday.

Toller Urlaub

  • 5 of 5

Large, well kept and welcoming.

  • 5 of 5

It is a lovely, large well appointed villa in a quiet region with views of hills and not at all overlooked. It has a lovely pool and large garden. For the first week there were six in our party and for the second week, eight people and the villa did not seem crowded. We ate all our meals outside and it was wonderful. It was very hot (but that was expected in August!) and we would no doubt have welcomed air con, but we knew that was not installed so no blame there and there are fans in all the bedrooms. The area is typically Spanish and practically no other tourists, which again we welcomed. All in all a lovely villa with a smashing pool, in a beautiful area and would love to go back at a cooler time of year to explore the immediate area more. Thanks to Tom and Brenda for their help.

Month in Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a fabulous month at the villa with various members of the family joining us. Year old twins, 7 and 11 year old (who spent nearly the whole time in the pool - bracing at the beginning of the month but when weather improved so did the temperature), 30,40 and 50 year olds and a couple in their 60s. Everything lovely and clean and although couple of problems, Paul who looks after the villa, soon resolved everything.

Home from home with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Lots of info regarding the area, wonderful scenery with lots of walks in the area. If various walk information could be included it would be great as we struggled to find hard copies of walks. One bonus was the new road down to Alicante which almost halved the airport pick up.

Easy walk into L'Olleria, not down main road, with lots of bars and a number of supermarkets. Hope to go again.

Had a nice holiday but could've been better

  • 3 of 5

We all had a nice holiday. Paul and Jenny were great and big thanks to them, especially jenny who helped us at the doctors when 3 of our kids got ear infections. The villa was nice, facilities were good. We saw quite a few of the sights. The temps were very hot 43 c some days days. The fans could of been better and there wasn't enough to go round. The bbq was used alot. The local supermarkets were great and well stocked and both had a great selection of great fish and prices were good to. Info was great on the places to visit and eat etc.

I had emailed paul twice with the negative points and I've waited until now to write review because I was hoping for a reply but haven't got one.

The wifi is useless, apparently the router was upstairs but they moved it downstairs into the apartment they use and the signal was very very poor, the only place i could get a signal was outside the main bedroom. With 5 kids wanting to keep in touch with their friends on facebook and twitter was impossible. The bathroom by front door needs updating and fixing because cracks in walls and tiles sticking up on floor. The trampoline has been installed wrong and if your kids like using it I would use with caution because Its very dangerous, the poles should be alot higher up and not on the floor and not the size stated. And the final thing the slats on the beds in the twin bedroom fell out all the time which was annoying.
