We have lived in the Southwest most of our lives and in Silver City since 1981. We live in the house next door to the North and own a Boutique apartment complex across Cooper St.
Joe Hutto purchased this house in 2009
Location, location, location, we are very close to downtown Silver City and 200 feet from Boston Hill open space. Boston Hill gives us an early sunset in the Winter(40 minutes) but calms spring winds significantly. Silver City has perfect climate, most of the year we eat or drink outside once a day in great weather. We are 80' higher than downtown, which makes us a little warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It is very easy to walk downtown and a little harder returning home, at 6000' of elevation, if you live below 2000' you will notice a difference.
Excellent, spacious, clean, modern upgrades, all amenities, friendly helpful owner. Great location. I liked the large deck with great views, and covered parking is really nice!
Our stay in Silver City, New Mexico was magnificent. We spent much of our time exploring the area. We visited the Cat Walk, The Cliff Dwellers, Mexico, Fort Bayard, took the mountain road to Truth or Consequences, and hiked several of the many trail heads in the area. Silver City is a friendly, eclectic town. It is a short walk from The Cooper Street Retreat to the historic downtown area. There are many art galleries, some good restaurants, and the Lotus Center yoga studio in a wonderfully restored historic building with many highly qualified instructors.
As for the Cooper Street Retreat, the house is large, sunny, very clean and well kept, and there is everything you need to enjoy your stay. Joe is a fantastic owner, interesting and willing to give you any information you need regarding Silver City. Leaving was like leaving a friend and a second home. Thank you Joe for everything.
I can express enough how empressed I was with this home. Everything is state of the art and up to date, every luxury aimed to comfort is provided. The beds and linens art very very comfortable. The owners are very welcoming and located right next door. They were so nice and even brought over some homemade fire oven baked bread, truly delicious. We are a family of 5, twin 1 yr old girls and a 4 year old son and found this property very family friendly.
We are located within the original boundary of Silver City as granted by the United States of America, New Mexico was only a territory at the time. Our neighborhood has been in the process of restoration over the past 20 years as new owners invest in their homes. Most of the homes in the neighborhood are 60 to 110 years of age. Downtown is 8 blocks away and Boston Hill open space is 200 feet away.
