About Luke

I moved to S. Florida from Up state NY way back in 1979. There was a shortage of work up there so I came down in pursuit of a new life in the tropics. I got involved buying and selling realestate with my neighbor Jim back in the early 80's and have been at it ever since. I always went camping with my wife and 4 children during breaks from school and got to know the entire state of Florida very well. The beauty of the fresh water springs was like a magnet to me. So when this home came on the market I couldn't ignore it. we never did a vacation rental before so we gave it a try and loved it. We met so many awesome guests that were as curious about the area as we were and enjoyed directing them to memorable vacations.

Luke purchased this house in 2012

Why Luke chose Ocklawaha

I along with my business partner Jim have been managing rental properties in S. Florida since 1985. We stumbled uponThis home in Ocklawaha and fell in love with the area. There is so much to do and it is so peaceful compared to where we live in South Florida. We wanted to share that tranquility with all the travelers out there who wanted some down time from the normal Disney type of vacation.

What makes this house unique

If you read some of the reviews from the guests that have visited us, you'll find some of the same things that interested them interested us. We love seeing all the stars in the sky that you don't see when you come from a big city. The peace of just sitting and listening to nothing or just frogs in the pond. The crackeling of fire wood burning in the fire pit. The laughter of children playing tag in the yard while Mom reads a book or Dad watches the game. Playing that board game with the kids that no one has time for at home. Or watching one of the 34 family friendly movies together as a family while eating popcorn and snacks. gazing out the back porch windows at the acres and acres of brush and wild black berry bushes with out a house in site.

A Real Florida Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking to get away from the beaches and all of the people this is a great little place to stay. Conveniently located to the Ocala National Forest with Juniper Springs, Silver Springs and even Rainbow Springs within a reasonable driving distance. We loved the convenience of being close to all the springs that we wanted to see and even got to see the rare sight of black bears on our way to the house.

It is located outside of a small-town Lynn Florida. With one gas station a Winn-Dixie and a couple of Dollar Tree kind of stores there's not much more. But again if you're looking to get away from the crowds and enjoy the Springs it's a great little town. We had everything we needed.

The house is in a rural neighborhood with houses close by. However it was absolutely one of the quietest places that we have ever stayed. What used to be a lake is now a beautiful Meadow that makes a beautiful view out of the back window. If you love the shade of oak trees then this house is definitely for you.

The home was completely furnished with everything we needed for our stay. Everything was easy to find and use. One thing to keep in mind is that this is a home in a rural setting so bugs, especially mosquitoes outside, are an issue during the summer time. And the only other small issue was the channels on the Dish Network were very limited in nature.

Luke, one of the owners of the property, was extremely involved in our whole stay. Any question or concern that I had for him, he immediately returned my texts. He is very serious about providing the people who rent his home with a quality stay.

If we go back and visit the Springs we would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: Eric, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in the forest. I also wanted to thank you for tagging the black bear pictures #therealfloridavacation so all the future guests can see them on instagram, that was a real treat. We enjoyed having your family as our guests and hope you tell your friends about the forest so they too can come and check it out. Best Regards, Luke

Peaceful, Tranquil, clean, comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

I was a guest of Mr. Lukes. He told me how relaxing the place was and that I would want to go back. Boy was he right! We filled everyday with fun and games. fooseball, puzzles, board and card games to name a few. The weather cooled off just enough to enjoy the fire pit in the large back yard. We took his advice and went canoeing at Juniper springs, and Silver springs and loved every minute. Easy paddling and very relaxing, Juniper springs even picks you up 7 miles down river. plenty of room for everyone. Next time we'll bring the bikes for the mountain bike trails.

Nice and Quiet

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 4, so the house had plenty of room and the rooms are spacious. The house was clean, and the beds were comfortable and had plenty of hot water. Just be aware that there is no cell phone signal or internet in the area. There was a storm the day we arrived so I'm not sure if that affected cell phone services, but we had no signal the entire time we were there. That was fine for us except when we needed to use google maps to find our way around.

Nice Rustic, clean, roomy, "summer house feel"

  • 4 of 5

House in the suburbs of the Ocala National Forest. Lots of turns to get to main road. GPS took us to a closed road coming in from North West of the address. We had to go around to the East to access the place. Luke was amazing with emails keeping me informed, answering questions quickly. I liked the artwork. Only flaws were a broken washer (biggy), broken blind in the back bedroom (not a big deal) and when we arrived (late evening) one of the chairs in the living room was wet (as if cleaning crew had just left after cleaning something big). The Air conditioning was on but the place smelled musty. Reminded me of the closed up smell our vacation place had when we first opened it up after the winter. Mustiness did dissipate after a day and the chair did dry eventually.

Owner's Response: Erica, I'm so glad you chose our home to house your guests for your sons Wedding. You are right, the broken washer was a big deal, the hospitality crew had to take all the linens and towels home to launder which took them longer to clean the house. I'm so glad they were able to finish before you arrived. Thank you so much for your understanding. Please think of us in the future. Congratulations to the Bride and Groom! Best Regards, Luke

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable for our family of 7. Well equipped. Nice beds. We used the grill and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook with. The kids enjoyed the games and movies. We were able to pick blackberries amd there were birds, bunnies and sqirrels in the yard each morning. Good location in Ocala National Forest area. Very relaxing and quiet.

Owner's Response: Lisa, It was our pleasure having you stay with us memorial day weekend. I'm so glad there were some berries still on the bushes for you. we never know when they will be ripe each year because it depends so much on the weather and last year was dry as can be. I hope you look us up again next time you want to get away. The fresh water springs in the area offer great kayaking and canoeing and are great just to cool off in the hot summer days. Best regards, Luke

Location

Car: necessary

This property is not located on a lake! The old map that shows location is incorrect. There is no water on this property. There are However; several fresh water springs in the area that are great to visit. be it for kayaking, canoeing or just cooling off.

Ocala offers Zip the Canyons which is great fun for the whole family. Local trail rides are a must if you enjoy horse back riding, and Santos Mountain bike trails are one of the states finest. Hundreds of miles of ATV trails can be found in the forest and don't forget the never ending hiking trails for every caliber hiker.

Please make a note to print directions to your destinations before coming. Cell phone coverage is spotty at best and you might lose your GPS signal if relying on it for directions.
