Les and Candi have created a tranquil oasis in the vast expanse of South Dakota. The church home is wonderful, comfortable, livable and just quirky enough to appeal to me and my wife. We hung out on the back deck and watched a big midwestern sky full of clouds, took drives on country roads lined with pheasant and red winged black birds, and eat kutchen, the South Dakota State desert. Try the rhubarb! It takes imagination to figure out what to do up here, which is perfect. Shaw Creak, over on the Missouri River, has a great hike. Eureka is small and friendly, with enough services, and a great community lake with a beach. We found an art show in a park in Aberdeen and visited the Cathedral on the Plains. It is a wetland and bird paradise and the grasslands waive in the wind like a giant sea. The photographic opportunities are world class and the sense of serenity very restorative. Two great TV's keep you entertained if you wish. I turned one on to catch the news and two minutes later decided to sit out on the deck, enjoy a drink with my wife, and look at the big South Dakota sky. Perfect!
