The cottage was great for our girls weekend! We had plenty of room and the location was wonderful. We were a very close walk to the water and could see the lake from the deck. We rented a boat from Brian's marina, which was very close by, and had a great day on the water. We will definitely stay again! Thank you for a wonderful weekend of new memories.
Stayed at this cottage for the weekend. First impression was, the owner cared about his property and wanted to do everything to make sure you had a pleasant stay. Very clean, very modern. We planned on spending most of our time on the lake but due to weather, we spent quite a bit of time in the cottage... Which was great! Would recommend to anyone!!
This beautiful home is just steps from a public beach, and a dock if you're interested in bringing or renting a boat for the day. Plenty of room for everyone (we stayed with 6 adults and there was plenty of room to spare), comfortable beds and updated kitchen and full bathroom (plus 1 half bath upstairs as well). House was well stocked with paper products and other items that came in handy while cooking, and the owner Todd even dropped by to deliver more paper towels as he new we might be running low. The TV/Internet are also a nice little plus to a wonderful and relaxing house close to the beach. If you're interested in roomy/updated home on Houghton Lake this is the spot, we will be back next year for sure!
We had a great time staying at this cabin! We had a small issue at the beginning of our stay, but the Owner was responsive and resolved the issue quickly. Cabin was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed, great location, easy to get to. I would definitely recommend this cabin to friends and family.
We had a great time at our stay! Quiet, calm. Wonderful house. Todd was super responsive and even came out and tracked down a wine bottle opener for us. One block from a little beach that we enjoyed relaxing at. Would recommend and would stay there again!
We had a great time staying at this home in Houghton Lake. Went to Traverse City one day (about an hour, 15 minutes drive), rented a pontoon boat at Brian's Marina, only about a mile away ($135 for the whole day--highly recommend), canoed in Grayling on the Au Sable River (Borchers Canoe Livery was great). Everything is close enough. The home worked great for our family of 6. Owner is great and replied to my numerous emails and phone calls very quickly. To add to the other reviews here, if you plan to cook a lot of meals here (like we did) and have more than 3-4 people, make sure to bring things with you. I brought my own large frying pans and 9x13 pan, but also could have used some bigger serving bowls and mixing bowls. There's one butcher knife and there are steak knives but no paring knives or any other sharp knives at all. No mixer, but there is a blender. There are no wine glasses or corkscrew. Along with bath and beach towels, also bring kitchen towels. If you rent a boat, the dock at the end of the street is evidently available for anyone to use, which we didn't know until afterwards.
