Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday home in Cherokee Sound - Abaco Palms

House, 4 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 4.5 Baths, (Sleeps 9-11)

Abaco Palms is the featured property of Abaco Palms Properties (Please check out our other VRBO listings - all on the same BEAUTIFUL beach!: Kokomo #819533, Camp David #819872, and Calypso #819876) directly on the beautiful Casuarina Point beach - steps from the water's edge (see the picture). Abaco Palms has its own 16’ Carolina Skiff (as do all our properties) – the perfect boat for exploring the islands, blue holes and private beaches of the neighborhood. You will find MANY pictures of the house and information about things to do at Casuarina Point and in Abaco on our web site (Search: 'Abaco Palms'). Please visit it for a complete tour. The Minimum Stay varies, so please inquire. We do not have an online calendar - so please inquire, and I promise to answer as quickly as possible.

Enjoy spectacular sunsets from the large oceanfront deck which features a Vita SPA hot tub, comfortable seating, and stainless steel grill for cooking your fresh catch or Caribbean lobster. Enjoy the beautiful, white-sand private beach from your deck or from hammock under the coconut trees or under the thatched umbrella. Abaco Palms' beach level has a small bathroom and a convenient outside shower. Also outside on the beach level you will find a large sink and counter for cleaning the fish you catch or the many shells you collect.

Abaco Palms can comfortably accommodate a variety of groups.

Abaco Palms has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms plus a beach level bathroom with outside shower and sink for cleaning your fish and shell collection. It features two master bedrooms with king-size beds, private oceanfront balconies, bathrooms with Jacuzzi whirlpool tubs and separate showers, and walk-in closets. The other two bedrooms offer queen-size beds and ensuite bathrooms, and one has an additional single futon for lounging or to be used as an additional bed. Each bedroom has its own television and each bathroom is fully tiled.

Bone fishing flats are all along the beach and the barrier reef is right out in front. Walk out on the flats and collect sand dollars at low tide. Paddle out in the kayak or paddle board to the small island outcroppings of the reef, or take your own 16-foot Carolina Skiff to explore nearby islands and discover your own private beach.

The many large windows offer spectacular views of the beach, ocean, and small islands in front. The fully-equipped kitchen is set up to handle a crowd and features granite counter tops, an extra ice maker, dishwasher, built in microwave, and large refrigerator. The dining table of Abaco Palms seats eight and there is a dining table for 6 on the deck and additional seating at the bar.

The home features free wireless Internet and Ethernet ports and free local and Internet phones.

As I said above, please check with me for availability. I do not use an online calendar, but I do try to answer every inquiry as quickly as possible - sometimes within minutes. About Kathy Heacock - email is always best, since I am often out of the country.

My husband and I first visited Abaco and Casuarina Point in 1996. We were hooked! We vacationed there with our 3 sons and decided to purchase property and build our dream, beach home - Abaco Palms, in 2005. We built a two bedroom house, Kokomo (#819533), in 2009 and added Camp David (#819873) - a 3 bedroom 3 and 1/2 bath, and Calypso (#819876) - a 4 bedroom 2+bath house in 2013. Our sons are grown now, but they still LOVE to spend family time in Abaco at Casuarina Point. To us it is heaven on earth!

Why Kathy Heacock - email is always best, since I am often out of the country. chose Bahamas

Casuarina Point is a unique location. We enjoy the beautiful, crystal clear shallow water in front of the house, and we are protected by the reef out front that is so fun for snorkeling and fishing. There are many uninhabited islands to explore - private beaches for swimming and picnics - blue holes to explore - bone fish to catch - nature to discover - the list can go on and on! It is a great location for kayaking - we have 4 that the main house and guest house share. We moor a 16' Carolina Skiff in front of the house and it is perfect for exploring the area. This is not possible at most ocean front beach houses - the reef's protection makes it possible. Our white sand beach stretches for miles - a perfect walking, exploring beach. Try it - you will be hooked, too!

What makes this house unique

All of our rentals include use of 16' Carolina Skiff. There is a boat moored in front of each house for your use to go fishing, snorkeling, or exploring the many small islands in the area. There is a Vita SPA hot tub on each deck, and 12 kayak, 6 paddle board, and 3 knee paddle board for our guests use for exercise and exploring. The houses and decks have spectacular views -and you walk right out on the beautiful, white sand beach with crystal clear water. It is a setting that can't be beat!

60th Birthday Celebration

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic, memorable, extraordinary, vacation. Traveled with my family to celebrate a 6oth birthday - - didn't want to leave. First, the owner Kathy is a gem. She and her husband have put together a stunning house that is meticulously maintained and perfectly appointed. She left out no detail, from a book with tide charts to an entire binder with every conceivable need while you are staying in the Abacos. She truly made the trip amazing. Second, the house is awesome! Seven people shared it comfortably. The back deck overlooking the most beautiful beach and ocean you can imagine (sitting in the hot tub enjoying the view wasn't bad either). The ground level patio with fish cleaning station, hot outdoor shower, kayaks, paddle boards, every thing you would need. Cooking meals in the well appointed and homey kitchen. Everything was outstanding. If you are looking for a once in a lifetime vacation, with friends or family., book Abaco Palms!. Amazing property, amazing owners.

50th Birthday Celebration!!

  • 5 of 5

WOW! This was truly one of the best vacations we have ever had. We were 3 couples all reaching 50 and we considered chartering a yacht for the week but this turned out way better. The back porch is amazing and the ocean was like a postcard. We were all so glad we chose this house as it fit us perfectly. We rented a van to go into Marsh Harbour and though it was a good 20 minute drive... we planned excursions for every other day so as to allow plenty of time to chill. The beds were super comfy, the AC was great, the outdoor shower and hot tub were awesome.. and the whole experience was just a blessing! We chartered a large catamaran with "Bruce" at sailtheabacos.com. What a fantastic day of snorkeling and sightseeing. We also went to Hopetown one day and rented bikes. Fly fishing can't be beat as well. We topped off the week with an incredible, artful cuisine from chef Antonio of the Oasis restaurant. He and his staff came to the house for a meal we won't soon forget! Can't wait to come back to this paradise in Abaco. The Heacocks truly thought of everything to make this an unforgettable vacation destination!!

beach not good for swimming

  • 3 of 5

We stayed in Calypso last June (15/2015). I am giving 3 stars and not 5 for 2 specific reasons: the water is too shallow to swim in (it is knee deep at most for a long distance from the shore, so pretty much only toddlers can enjoy it) , and it is too far from town (20-25 minutes by car so if you need to head to Marsh Harbor for anything, you have to plan accordingly. If as a traveler, swimming in deep clear turquoise caribbean water is high on your list of activities you want to enjoy, then I would choose another location besides the general Casuarina point area. We did a day trip to Treasure Cay and the water and beach there are far nicer, and we also did a day trip to Hope Town and the Atlantic beach side is beautiful in terms of water . If I were to go back to Abacos, I would pick a location along Treasure Cay or the Atlantic side of Hope Town

The things we liked still about Calypso is that it is good enough for 8 people (we were 2 families, 4 adults and 4 kids), it is very close to shore so you can sit in the patio and watch the kids very closely on the beach. Also, there is a nice reef that one can reach by the boat from shore (about 5-10 minutes by boat from shore) that has a good variety of fish , corals and also a turtle . We went twice to that reef by boat and saw the turtle 2 days in a row! getting the boat started was a little tricky for us and it takes a little effort to get is moored once you reach the reef. The owners left a nice map in the house that shows how to reach the reef.

Great time.

  • 5 of 5

Our group of four couples from Maine stayed at Abaco Palms in April and were delighted with our stay.

The weather, the accommodations, the island were wonderful.

Our group loves the sunshine, fishing, relaxing, exploring and snorkeling and our week on the island provided all of that.

The owners of Abaco Palms were helpful in having their home well set up and readily available in answering tons of questions before our arrival.

It is a quiet island and not rushed as other islands we have been to.

As you might imagine, everything is imported so if you have luggage space, consider bringing in frozen meat (yes frozen meat) and paper products.

The grocery stores are plentiful and about twice the cost that is in the states.

If you find conch shells in the water - there is probably a hermit crab hiding in it.

We were surprised when we thought we found empty conch shells and brought them home.

We have nothing but wonderful pictures and memories of Abaco Palms and the island.

We have nothing but thanks for the time available by the owners of this lovely home.

Perfect paradise

  • 5 of 5

Our second year at Abaco Palms exceeded the first! Knowing more about all of the fun waterside restaurants, places to go, and beautiful areas made it feel like home. The accommodations are 5 star. we had friends joining us and there was plenty of room with each bedroom ensuite. The guys, seasoned fly fishermen, were 14 again and fished for bones every day and then went just out front to the deeper water and came back with Mahi Mahi! Already Counting the days to 3! Thanks Kathy!!!!!

The only place I will stay in the Bahamas!

  • 5 of 5

“There is not enough I can say about Kathy and Abaco Palms! Not only was the house and location beautiful, but Kathy is the picture of an ideal hostess. From her quick response time while booking to the extensive recommendation booklet inside the home, Kathy took care of every detail. As for Abaco Palms, no picture can do this location justice. The seclusion and serenity has a private island vibe where you can walk down the white sand beach for miles. I would also like to note that as this was a girls' trip, we felt completely safe at all times. While the surroundings are more than enough to stay at Abaco Palms, the accommodations are incredible. The home is stocked like an executive rental and was extremely well maintained and clean. The home had a little skiff, paddle boards and kayaks that made for great active afternoons exploring the reefs nearby. I could easily imagine a large family or group of friends saying comfortably here for weeks on end. Thank you, Kathy for a weekend we will cherish for years to come!
