Had a great stay. The weather was great. Enjoyed swimming in the lake and being able to enter from the beach (especially our dog). Loved sitting in the hot tub in the evening under the stars. We even saw deer in the yard. Had family with us who had never been to SML and they really enjoyed themselves.
My friends and I had a great time staying at Heron's Rest. We enjoyed spending time on the dock and sitting on the deck. The only thing I would change if I could would be adding one more bathroom. Considering it was a girl's trip (6 of us) it would have been nice to have one more shower, but we survived. :)
We had a great time at Heron's Rest celebrating my dad's 80th birthday. The view, lake access and location were great. We enjoyed the hot tub and canoe and the house was comfortable for our group of 6. The fenced yard was contiguous with the deck and was perfect for our dog and the property felt very private. (We recommend a preventative treatment for ticks for your dog). The house layout was great for our purposes. There was a separate staircase for the master bedroom and bath so my parents had privacy from the rest of us louder folks.
The owners responded to emails and questions quickly and made good recommendations for activities.
We do have a few suggestions for the property manager
1.) provide a broom (and have the cleaning crew or lawn care workers sweep or blow off the deck). 2.) tone
down the warnings posted throughout the house that further charges could result from various infractions 3.) include life jackets on the list of owner-provided items, 4.) revise the refrigerator note containing the wifi password
- it is incorrect.
This house was beyond our expectations. Beautifully situated in the woods, facing the lake made for a perfect setting. The hot tub outside was a great way to unwind at the end of the day and star gaze. The house is spacious with great character. The kids enjoyed playing pool and foosball, and the adults enjoyed the updated (and very well equipped!) kitchen, grill and gas fireplace. We explored the lake in the canoe provided, and fished from the dock.
It was a wonderful stay in a beautiful setting. The house was large and comfortable. I highly recommend it.
Great location and view. Older home but kept well. Living area small including TV-fine if there during the summer when most time spent outside, but during fall/winter or poor weather not conducive for more than 3 people. Kitchen has good layout but could use more pots/pans. Biggest issue in kitchen was sink drain-very slow and experienced backup very easily with any dishes washed in sink (even after visit from plumber). All bedrooms provided great space. Beds are very firm. Great deck area and fenced area for pets/small children. Fire pit and canoe added bonuses. Beware-neighborhood dogs friendly but not confined; several openings around pipes in laundry room makes it cold and may have allowed the bat to get in that was found in the dining area; extremely limited wifi access per property owner.
