Love the Smokies

Beautiful view of river. Easy access to vacay sites. Needs lots of repairs, power wash and vacuuming of webs on fans and rafters

If you like to be near the water, this is a property worth considering.

Staying at this property worked out well for me. Betty was prompt, kind, and helpful in her communications. The location was great for doing things in Townsend and for excursions into the mountains. The downstairs bedrooms and bathroom are small, but adequate and fully furnished. There is one larger bedroom in the loft. The common area of the A-frame is roomy and full of light. There is an electric fireplace that, while not giving off the aroma of a real fireplace, adds a nice ambiance to the room. And if you leave the windows open, you can listen to the river. Beside being furnished, the cabin is equipped with everything you need for any length stay, from linen to complete kitchen and laundry. The highlight for me was the balcony. It is large enough for spending significant time there, and it directly overlooks the river.

I only had two items which brought the rating from five to four stars. However, for me they were significant. 1) I know that buildings near water can get musty, but the cabin had apparently not been adequately aired out before my arrival, and it took three days of running fans and keeping windows open for the odor and allergens to dissipate to an acceptable level. 2) A man claiming to be a family member entered the cabin without prior notice or invitation. I am fairly certain that won't happen again.

Owner's Response: We have been working on the air quality in our cabin. We recently installed a new air conditioning system that we hope will alleviate the issue. My brother-in-law went by to check on the cabin because he thought it was vacant. This will not happen again.

Worth what we paid for it. Will stay again!

Over all a good stay. Only complaints are. We could hear the people in the camp ground next door. We were laying in bed in the loft and could hear people talking. Luckily there was a fan that we turned on. Also, the driveway is very hard to see at night. Some reflective driveway markers would help! The cabin was clean and well stocked. The deck on the river was superb!! We ate breakfast there two mornings. One other note. The loft is not for older people! The stairs are very steep! Access to the river is also very steep.

Very Peaceful and Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

The cabin on the river is quite a treat. Even though you are next to a campground it was still very peaceful. The hot tub does not work but we knew that ahead of time. The cabin is very spacious with a king bed in the loft. Washer and dryer is a major plus. So was WiFi. The owners went out of their way to make our stay a success even though I messed up with our checkout date. They were very understanding. The cabin is an older cabin but has its own charm. Location is close enough to all shopping and attractions. Another plus.

This is a nice property on the river within 1 minute of the park

  • 4 of 5

It has a well stocked kitchen. There is ample room for 6 people with a loft and 2 bedrooms. The air conditioning is weak so there was a heat wave during our visit and the temp in the house was over 80 but I am used to it. The view of the river from the deck is nice and there is a grill. The hot water tub did not work at our stay but I was informed of this and would not have used it anyway. If you are planning on water tubing with your family this is the place to stay. We went 3 times and with 6 of us going for free it makes the cost of the cabin extremely reasonable. My only suggestion is that they leave a broom there. The deck gets leaves and cobwebs and it would have been nice to be able to clean it off. I would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: Since the cabin is located in the mountains, right on the bank of the Little River, we have a problem with animals getting under the cabin and knocking the ductwork loose. When that happens most of the cool air goes outside! We try very hard to check the ductwork with each cleaning and have hired a company to replace this with permanent ductwork that can't be knocked loose. I apologize that cabin was uncomfortable during your stay. There is a broom and dustpan, but sometimes I've noticed it gets placed beside the refrigerator where it is hard to see. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you will return soon!

bab cabin.

If your 20 & don't know better; just fine. But we're not. Bird poop all over the main window. AC would only cool to 78 during the day. Poor. We were on vacation. Spider webs every where. You need a new cleaning service. My compliments to the photographer for the web site. I finally got the courage to raise the lid for the hot tub. A BIG mistake. We won't be back.

Owner's Response: The amenities for our cabin have never included a hot tub. Our hot tub is broken and we are trying to find the best way to remove it from our deck, which hangs out over the Little River and we will have to remove a privacy screen to do so. Hopefully when the rental season slows up a bit, we can get this done!
