This is a family owned historic brownstone where our family resided for over 10 years.
The location is perfect for exploring the rich cultural gifts of Brooklyn, described as “the new Manhattan”, within walking distance to restaurants, BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music), Brooklyn Museum of Art, Botanical Garden, Prospect Park, the Barclay Center, Fort Greene Park-tennis, the Pratt Sculpture Garden, shopping in Brooklyn Heights and the Atlantic Mall. Metro station is within 3 blocks walking distance, it is also just minutes from Dumbo, Williamsburg, Park Slope other Brooklyn neighborhoods and Manhattan.
The joy of experiencing a rich neighorhood and NYC with various restaurants, the arts and a diverse community.
This home is spacious (actually, huge by NYC standards) and on two levels, separating sleeping rooms from the kitchen and living room. Each bedroom has a flat screen tv, a perk my children don't get at home. The kitchen and living room have lots of room for relaxation. We felt safe in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, and we enjoyed several local eateries, from an English pub to authentic Cuban. The A, C, and G trains provide quick transport to Manhattan, and we made that trip daily to see the sites.
Best of all is your host, Anthea. She met us when we arrived, gave us a full tour of her home, made restaurant recommendations, and even had a surprise treat for us. She checked on us later after we arrived to be sure we were properly situated and again before we departed. We had no issues during our stay, but I am confident she would have addressed any problems we encountered.
This was a great home for our family of four, and had we used the third bedroom, we would have been very comfortable with six. I highly recommend this home!
My two daughters, husband and I spent our Christmas in this lovely home and enjoyed every moment of our stay! When we first arrived, Anthea met us and helped us get acclimated to the brownstone through a grand tour in which she explained the particulars of care and comfort. She gave us restaurant and grocery store suggestions nearby along with directions to navigate the streets of Brooklyn. We were about two blocks from the subway station - which quickly took us into Manhattan to sightsee. I had the ability to cook Christmas Eve dinner and when I had a question about operating the stove, Anthea responded immediately to my text. Throughout the week, my family felt at home as we each had our own space - a place to get ready in the morning and settle down in the evening to recharge after an exhausting day of New York adventures. We are grateful to have been able to stay at Anthea's place and are blessed to have met someone so sincere and welcoming! We hope to return some day!
My partner and I stayed at Anthea's apartment recently with our two children (aged 10 and 8), and I have nothing but positive feedback about the property, the location, and the owner!
The apartment was modern, spacious, clean and well-equipped.
We loved the area and felt at home right away. Staying in Brooklyn was a dream come true, and felt far more authentic than staying in one of the usual tourist traps.
Anthea was extremely helpful before arrival, and was there to welcome us when we arrived. She took time out of her busy schedule to provide us with a wealth of extremely valuable information on the area, transport links, and attractions that we might want to visit. Without this, we might well have wasted a day simply finding our feet. She kept in touch with us during the week to find out how our holiday was going, and to arrange our check out at the end of our holiday.
Overall, I cannot recommend the location, property, and owner highly enough. We hope to come back to NY in the future, and Anthea's property would be top of our list of places to stay.
Anthea is a great host and very prompt in answering any questions we had. We stayed for 3 nights, family of 4. We were out sightseeing a lot but when we were back at the apt, our teenage boys loved the TVs in each room...they don't get that at home. Very historic house, which was cool. Easy walk to subway stations. Thanks for a great stay!
Our family had a wonderful 3 night stay which started with a great host in Anthea. She went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable and comfortable. The apartment is very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The neighborhood felt very safe and very friendly.
We also enjoyed the local coffee shop Stonefruit Espresso which is right around the corner, as well as donuts from Dough!
We highly recommend this property! Thank you again Anthea!
The place was perfectly situated and in a lovely leafy street. It was a novelty staying in an original brownstone as well. Anthea was the perfect host who went out of her way to make sure we were well informed about the area and what we could do in NYC, and was excellent in communication. Our family of 5 had a great stay.
The brownstone location is on a tree lined block perfect for exploring the rich cultural gifts of Brooklyn, which has been described as one of the trendiest places in New York.
