Your Casa Hermosa King Suite provides efficient luxury for the single traveler and a cozy, romantic nest for a couple. You’ll enjoy a comfy king-size bed beneath a cathedral ceiling, a full bath, a kitchenette, private parking, and a view of Sleeping Lion Mountain from your easy chair! Just out the door, take advantage of your own flagstone-walled patio. You’ll find a flat-screen cable TV, DVD, and free wireless. And we’re pet friendly, so bring the pooch.
You're an easy walk from downtown Fort Davis, so you're not subject to being stranded in a remote location if the elements turn against you. You can stroll and dine and shop and soak up the unique charm of our town, and you're a quick drive from Texas' most dramatic mountain vistas. Fifteen breathtaking miles from the McDonald Observatory. Twenty miles from the art Mecca of Marfa. Thirty-two miles from a refreshing swim in the spring-fed mountain pool at Balmorhea.
You're surrounded by history both inside--in a past life, Casa Hermosa served our country as a barracks for Army Air Force pilots during World War I--and outside--the rocks on our mountains are 500 million years old, and once served as hiding places for Apache and Comanche warriors.
You'll find Casa Hermosa King the perfect home base for your west Texas adventures. If you're looking for larger accommodations, check out Casa Hermosa Starlight.
Meanwhile, if we can answer any questions, please let us know. We look forward to making you welcome.
My wife Donna Johnson and I are both authors. I write fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, and Donna is best known for her memoir Holy Ghost Girl. We visit west Texas often. On one visit we stayed at Casa Hermosa and fell so much in love that we bought the place. We now look forward to welcoming you as our guests.

The best of all worlds. A location an easy walk from charming downtown Fort Davis, with easy chair views of majestic Sleeping Lion Mountain. By car, you're fifteen spectacular minutes from the McDonald Observatory, twenty minutes from all the art in Marfa, and within easy striking distance of the Big Bend Parks and all the other attractions of our unique area.
We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Hermosa. I was surprised at first to realize there was a school across the street, but even though school was in session we never heard a peep. And the tall patio wall gave us all the privacy we needed. Loved the rocking chairs on the patio. The grill came in handy since we were there on a Mon-Wed when many of the restaurants in town were closed. We picked up some steaks and enjoyed a beautiful evening grilling on the patio. The inside was perfect for us; king sized bed and a nice seating area with big comfy leather chairs, plus a small kitchen area. We walked most everywhere and also brought our bikes and biked around town; easy riding since it is all flat and very little traffic. Great location, in a quiet residential area, yet just a few blocks from the main street of town. My husband said this was his favorite stay of our week long trip!
The accommodations suited our needs for a quiet weekend away from the hustle and bustle.
Our family has been vacationing in Fort Davis for many years, and I can say without a doubt Casa Hermasa is by far the most pleasant enjoyable place we have ever stayed. Extremely clean, charming and inviting, this little casita is the perfect quiet get away, extremely easy access and stocked with everything you need for a " home away from home ". Owners go above and beyond to furnish a comfortable setting and to provide yiu with everything you will need while away, including tips and information on Fort Davis and surrounding areas. The home is on a very quiet street, with beautiful surrounding views and just a jump to the Main Street in town. Very comfortably furnished, and nice cozy bedding, this " dog loving " little house even provided a jar of dog treats for your beloved furry pets, should they be accompanying you on your stay. Check in was a breeze, ( instructions are sent prior to your arrival, and the cottage is all set and ready for you, with a special code just for your stay ) and the cottage patio was a wonderful way to relax and unwind after a long day in the mountains or to enjoy morning coffee. Will most definitely be returning, would love to rent the additional space in the two bedroom on the other side of the property. Traveled alone with an infant and had plenty of room in the King Suite, and felt very safe and right at home throughout our stay. I never take the time to write reviews, but this place deserves one !!
Overall, the King suite was cozy, thoughtfully done & location great. Only constructive feedback we would have is that the 2 chairs were very uncomfortable for older folks, of normal weight, with lower back issues.
Overall, we loved Ft. Davis & had a wonderful time swimming @ Balmorhea & experiencing this gorgeous mountain town!

When we first decided to visit Ft. Davis, I started looking at the local motels in town. When I saw some of their reviews, I didn't feel comfortable making reservations in some of them due to the negative comments about them being old and in need of renovation, especially the beds. I have used VRBO in the past and decided to see what was available. I settle in on Casa Hermosa and we were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations. The room was larger than most of the rooms available in town. It was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The room was well stocked for our stay. Kirk was very helpful with the booking process and stayed in contact prior to our reserved dates. The check-in and check-out process was very easy. Casa Hermosa is only about two or three city blocks from the center of activity in Ft. Davis.
I did have one concern about the location of Casa Hermosa and that was the fact that it is right across the street from the school complex in town. The school year started while we were there. It turned out that we didn't even notice any difference between the weekend, when there was no activity, and during the days when the school was active.
I would recommend Casa Hermosa to my friend if they were going to Ft. Davis.
Casa Hermosa was a great place for us during our recent trip to Fort Davis. We enjoy traveling to area to hike and have stayed in several places in and around Fort Davis in past. This room is about the size of a nice hotel room, but more accommodating with it's efficiency kitchen and nice little porch to enjoy outside. It is very clean with a nice size bathroom and the bed was very comfortable (thank you for the extra pillows!). It rained for much of our stay and we really enjoyed just sitting outside on covered patio with a glass of wine in the evenings. VERY peaceful and quiet even though it is located in the middle of town (next to the high school). The owners were very helpful (we ate at the place you recommended in Alpine and it was delicious!) and accessible which was much appreciated.
If you are looking for affordable lodging in area that is clean and quiet, this is the place for you!
NOTE: This room is part of a duplex with one other rental attached. There was no one in the other rental during our stay which may have contributed to our peaceful/quiet stay.
