A fantastic family villa with brilliant heated pool and tennis court, boules and table tennis. perfect for all year round holidays. Set in over 3 acres of beautiful pine parkland in stunning countryside, the villa is close to shops, superb golf (Les Terres Blances PGA 18 hole 7km) and the Riviera coastline (20km). Very flexible and spacious accommodation for as few as 2 to 10+. Hifi and wifi. Superbly equipped kitchen and laundry. Local village of St. Paul en Foret 2km with an excellent boucherie, epicerie and 2 great restaurants. Fayence, Seillans, Callian, Montauroux with many more restaurants and much to see and do close by, inc riding, canoeing and gliding. Wonderful local wines and produce make it the perfect holiday for gastronomes! The Gorges du Verdon is 1 hour and in winter it's just a short drive for local skiing and only 1hr 45mins to Isola 2000 and other premier resorts. But... it has been known for some guests to stock up and not budge because the villa has it all.

Golfing Paradise: The magnificent Four Seasons Terre Blanche is a must for all visiting golfers. It's just a ten minute drive to the jaw dropping splendour of the 2 x 18 hole PGA courses and when you arrive you will be greeted by friendly and very professional staff to kick-start the experience. Fantastic scenery from start to finish and a wonderful club house to have a drink and a snack whilst analysing your performance! It's a challenging course alright...

Close to the slopes...: Premier resorts Isola 200 and Auron are within 2hrs. Lots of our winter guests leave the house at 7am and they're on the slopes, all kitted-up by 9.30am. For those who are happy with local skiing, Greolieres is 45 minutes away - and the drive to it is fantastic. Perfect for beginners and intermediates - ideal for a family day out.

Year round touring...: They say this part of the world is Europe's playground. They're right. And it's a wonderful base for travelling further into France or further afield to Spain (Barcelona 6 hrs), Venice (5hrs), the Cinque Terre World Heritage sight (3-4hrs) and the world famous Ventigmilia Friday market (1hr 15mins).

About Lucy Clayton-Payne

In July 2003, we walked up the drive of Les Terrasses & my first words were... "I wish this was ours... wouldn't you die to have a place like this?" Two months later, it was ours and ten years on we have a spacious, comfortable, fun and well-equipped home. We reflect on serendipity with a warm smile and just a bit of back ache. We love it.

Chris is a GP and I have a business specialising in presentation skills training. We have 4 grown-up children who, like us, enjoy lying by the pool, playing tennis and boules, sipping rosé, long lazy lunches, giggly outdoor suppers, breathtaking walks, winter skiing, fabulous golf, amazing restaurants, gorgeous markets, nearby sandy coves, Mediterranean scents, gastronomy...

Knackered and thin we stagger in, happy and stout we stagger out.

Why Lucy Clayton-Payne chose Esterel - Fayence

This area of Provence is something else... on the one hand you have the beauty of rural Var and on the other, you have the sophistication of the Cote d'Azur. From our Cambridge home, we can get door to door in about 5-6 hours. EasyJet and other carrier flights from UK airports to Nice are in abundance and it's just 45 mins to the villa from Nice airport. Our local village, St. Paul en Foret and our local town, Fayence are both very 'French' and very attractive with lots going on, in and around them. The joy of this area is that you can opt for a sophisticated day out in Mougins, Antibes or many other tourist spots, but you can then come back to the serenity and privacy of a beautiful home. Perfect.

What makes this villa unique

It's wonderful to have so much to do. The active ones enjoy endless games of tennis on the private tennis court and the less energetic love to lounge by the pool or sip at their drink whilst playing boules. Guests with young children thank their god for the sky package... their kids are watching TV while they have their lie in.

Our guests who love to cook comment on the brilliant kitchen... they can potter away but everything else going on is still within ear shot.

Those who love to madly launder (?) have everything to hand. Those who love to sample local vino enjoy the plethora of domaines within striking distance - especially Val d'Iris. From markets to mountains, it's all nearby. We're talking minutes, not hours. Funny though... many don't budge for the duration.

This house just wraps you up and looks after you..

Four frazzled people turned up to this amazing house and ten days later the same four fatter but happier people left!! This house just oozes immense comfort and charm. The pool and tennis court are both in fantastic condition. The terraced gardens have thoughtful seating everywhere to either hide or bask in the sunshine. The summer kitchen is utterly delightful with its bbq and relaxed seating - perfect for scrabble and cards. Every need is considered in this house which made our holiday so complete. The beds are really comfy and the house is very clean. We were lucky enough to see a massive hare in the garden and a a family of red squirrels but the lavender plants are constantly awash with stunning butterflies. The owners are delightful and this comes across in this truly wonderful welcoming house. We could not have chosen a better house to spend our holiday in.

Thoroughly recommended

Our second visit in three years to Les Terrasses to meet with friends – seven of us in total. On this occasion driving from the UK; previously we had flown into Nice and picked up a hire car – a very easy trip.

Les Terrasses is situated towards the end of a secluded wooded valley amidst substantial grounds, with nearest neighbours several hundred yards away, providing a private and peaceful holiday setting off the beaten track. It is an established, solidly constructed, and well-designed property sitting sympathetically in its surroundings.

A car is pretty much essential if one is to get out and about to local villages, restaurants, and to explore the surrounding countryside from the mountains to the sea. There is ample parking for several cars.

The property description provided by the owners (who offered excellent customer service in all aspects) is accurate and their camera does not lie! The photographs give an excellent overview of the property as a whole. We visited at the end of May and the weather was glorious, with hot sunny days and pleasantly cool evenings and nights.

Many a day was started with breakfast on the main terrace followed by a morning trip to one of the neighbouring villages or vineyards for sightseeing, shopping, etc., before returning for a swim and a late lunch. A short siesta refreshes one for a late afternoon game of tennis on the private court.

As afternoon turns to evening, a ‘sun-downer’ or two is taken over a somewhat lively and competitive game of pétanque on the boules terrace - no prisoners taken!

An evening in the outside dining area around the barbeque eating and drinking the delicious locally-derived and sourced produce completes the day. And so to bed in order to build strength for further similar exertion the next day, but perhaps this time involving a little sailing, or a motor boat trip, or a scenic drive, along the spectacular Côte d'Azur, less than an hour’s drive distant.

If the urge to create one’s own culinary masterpieces chez nous is lacking then a variety of highly recommended restaurants await in the neighbouring villages; such a decision is, however, slightly hard luck on the nominated driver!

All in all Les Terrasses is a wonderful location in which either to remain, relax, and enjoy the facilities, or to use as a base to explore all that this part of France has to offer. It is thoroughly recommended to families and to groups of friends of pretty much all ages alike.

A gem of a holiday home.

If you are looking for excellent accommodation set in lovely countryside, then you need look no further. The setting, the house, the amenities and the tranquillity altogether make it the ideal location to spend a relaxing holiday It is not often that a property lives up to its advertising, however in this instance it exceeded my expectations and photos do not do justice to the house or the views.

The house has been beautifully restored with the French country style and is bright, airy, immaculately clean and welcoming. Nothing has been forgotten for the comfort and convenience of guests. It has fantastic modern facilities, well equipped kitchen and excellent showers with wonderful water pressure. There is a fabulous terrace for outdoor eating or a rustic ‘cuisine d’ete’.

The outdoor facilities include an impeccably clean swimming pool, a tennis court and boules court which gave hours of fun.

You would need a car at this property, but wonderful restaurants and shops are only a very short drive away.

I’m almost afraid to recommend it too highly in case I am unable to book it myself.

« Les Terrasses », a great place to be!!

We really wanted to put a notice on the site, to tell anyone who would like to have some information that « Les Terrasses » is absolutely a great place to be !

Our holidays in the domain were outstanding ! we have lived in this house as in a bubble, full of oxygen, and suitable for calm, peaceful and resting days but also for fun, laughter, cheerflulness … having a good time together !

It is true that when you’re 12 and you have 4 dogs you really question yourself about the place to go. “Les terrasses” offers this amazing confort! big enough to have privacy and also actually be together ! this is tremendous !

We really made the most of the swimming pool, the tennis court, the ping pong table, the barbecue, the frontyard and backyard terraces and almost never went out of the house, we were too good there to move ! we fell in love with the old stones, the rosebays, the pines and the cicadas !

I often thought about how lucky we were to be all together, enjoying life !

For all of this, thanks a lot Lucy and Chris.

Amazing PGA golf course (Terre Blanche) just 7km away and loads more slightly further away. Excellent for walking, biking, horse riding, gliding canoeing and kayacking. Skiing just 45 min and premier resorts Isola 2000 and Auron within 2 hours - in fact all year round the villa is a perfect base location for guests who wish to tour Europe - Italy only one hour...

Golf: There is a vast number of fabulous golf courses in the region, the nearest being the PGA Terre Blanche, providing magnificent facilities and outstanding views. St. Endreol is only 20 minutes away, but the local list is endless.

Ski: Greolieres is about 45 mins away. For day skiing at beginner to intermediate level. Isola 2000 is 1hr 45mins - excellent skiing.

Notes:
The house is great for all ages but as it's on a gentle hillside, there are some steps. As well as the tennis court and superb pool, there is a boules terrace, table tennis and there are some board games, a honky tonk piano and a dart board! Linen and house towels are provided for up to 10 people. Beyond that, we ask people to bring their own. The satellite package gives our renters everything except porn! We even provide you with extra DVDs to watch and there is a large selection of mini disks for all music tastes. There is a fantastic outside summer kitchen with a BBQ. This is wonderful on extra hot days and warm evenings and we manage to fit about 18 people around the table. Other table and seating arrangements are flexible and should work for all guest groups. The house is cleaned on arrival and departure. In between we leave you to your own devices, other than regular visits from our pool maintenance people. Bed linen and house towels provided for 10.
