About Erin and John Knox

John, Erin, and Will (our son) live in Essex Junction, VT. John is a native Vermonter, from Essex, and Erin has lived in VT for 23 years (she grew up in Whitefield, NH). We work hard, but love to enjoy our time together and with family and friends, and enjoy our life in Vermont.

Why Erin and John Knox chose Lake Champlain Islands

Heavenly Haven is a special place to us. It is our dream to be able to live full-time on the lake when we retire. One of the reasons we choose to live in Vermont is for it's amazing natural for Lake Champlain! We love South Hero because it is close to our home in Essex and easy access to Burlington. Haven was owned for many years by the same family, and we want to continue to keep it up and enjoy the gardens, trees, and waterfront access. When we saw Haven - we fell in love with it and (so they say) - had to make it ours!

What makes this house unique

Quiet, peaceful, beautiful views and amazing lake access at one of the most beautiful spots on the Lake.

Beautiful cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

This is our second year in this cottage and we love it. Plenty of space, very cozy, and conveniently located in Keeler Bay where the boat is protected from heavy winds. Lots and wildlife and scenery, it's the perfect getaway.

This is a lovely spot on the lake.

This camp is in a good location, close to anything you need in the area, and with easy access to other areas. We love that you are in walking distance to the Blue Paddle, a favorite restaurant in VT. Since it is on a larger piece of property it provides some seclusion without being isolated. It has all the amenities that you need for an enjoyable, rustic stay on the lake. The canoe was a plus since the east shore is calm so a good spot for getting out in the water. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here.

Nice summer home

  • 5 of 5

This summer home is just as pictured, Erin was there if we needed. We would return in a heart beat. Brought up my 26 foot sailboat, the sailing was great. The dock was great to have. This house has a great yard unlike other cottages that have the land the cottage sits on. Seemed private yet you can walk to town. Thank you John and Erin for letting us enjoy your place, might take you up, on returning.

This property is in the most perfect location.

  • 4 of 5

We lucked out on weather and really enjoyed boating and fishing on the dock. It is a quiet area and could really spend time relaxing. The owners are very friendly and helpful. There is everything you need in a kitchen. I brought some of my own utensils in case - and never used them.

I would say the boat ramp is limited on size of boat - (tight width and curves at end). We should have asked before but there are nearby locations to trailer the boat in the water and still dock at the house for the week which is what we did.

All in all a very nice vacation. Thank you!

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was perfect for our family getaway! Amazing views of Lake Champlain even from standing at the kitchen sink! Situated on a quiet, private lot with its own dock and boat launch and conveniently located to Burlington and other cool places like Stowe really made this place special. Couldn't have asked for a better spot to relax and enjoy our family time. Owners John and Erin were extremely accommodating and wonderful to work with from start to finish. Certainly made some great memories at this unique spot!
