We were a party of eight (4 adults and 4 children). The villa was spacious, comfortable, light and airy. With large windows facing towards the Med, you are guaranteed stunning views all day long. The balcony was a lovely place to sit in the morning with a coffee and breakfast. The dining tables were large enough for everyone to sit around at the same time. There is a table outside next to the BBQ which we used until the bugs attacked! The lounge area had easily enough seating for us all. The kitchen is on the small side (3 pers max in it at once) and is well appointed with crockery/ cutlery/ pots etc. It does lack a microwave which would have been useful when needing to heat up the 2 yrs old food. The BBQ is excellent but fierce! The villa has towels for use around the pool but not for the beach. You would need to provide your own. The pool was warm and large enough for all of us. There are 5 steps into it where our non swimmers played. There isn't a shallow end.
The TV uses German satellite and consequently German TV is seen. When the kids wanted to watch TV, we used the Apple TV and logged onto Netfliks/ Amazon Prime. The internet had a few glitches but this was to do with the local infrastructure rather than the villa. Each room has its own aircon and the villa remained cool with the aircon on in the evening.
The owner has left comprehensive details on what to do and where, however, it is in German. Therefore, it is worth doing a little research prior to arrival. We found Calpe, Altea and Denia all very accessible and worth a visit. If you like dinosaurs, then the DinoPark (30mins drive) is a must (and take swimmers for the kids as there is a shallow paddling area).
The villa is located in the hills and you get to it via small winding roads. The driveway entrance is tight and anything bigger than an 5 door saloon (like an estate or SUV) may have issues getting in and out without doing 3 point turns.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay at La Madrugada but it went too quickly! We would not hesitate in recommending it to friends and family.
Perfect, relaxing, memorable
This house is our favorite vacation rental! Our group of 5 world travelers have flown over 7 million miles combined; we have rented 8 different Homeaway houses in 3 countries and we love to combine local culture, cuisine and wine with our relaxation efforts. When we found this house in Altea, it was perfect and the primary reason we scheduled this vacation.
Prior to our trip, Alexander was fast to respond to all our questions. Upon arrival, the onsite manager, Heidimarie, was available at all times even though there were no issues, so we only saw her upon check-in and checkout! The pictures in the Homeaway posting are EXACTLY what the house is like in person. It has 3 different dining areas (2 inside and 1 outside overlooking the pool). The living room is comfortable for groups with a large, high definition TV. There is an upper deck that has fantastic views of the valley and the Mediterranean which was great for morning coffee and evenings for wine, conversation and watching the stars. The hammock was located in a quiet lower terrace that was great for afternoon naps, surrounded by orange and lemon trees. And finally, the pool, it was a consistent depth throughout and perfect view of the sea.
The kitchen is smaller than we are used to (enough for 2 people cooking at time) but has all the necessities. It has excellent dishware, knives, and glasses for all occasions. The outdoor grill was of top quality and we used it every night. The master bedroom is upstairs just off the kitchen with a large master bath and shower. There are 3 bedrooms on the lower level. The house has air conditioning throughout and kept the house at a perfect temperature.
Overall, this house, location, and experience will be one we would recommend to our friends and families. Our small group has already discussed our next visit to Altea and are looking forward to coming home to this wonderful house.
What a beautiful villa with a fantastic view! Well designed with a very high standard of finish inside and out. Great attention to detail which was echoed in the service we got through the whole process - from booking to knowing Heidemarie was on hand if we needed any help.
We are a family of three generations meeting for one weeks holiday a year so it is important we get the accomodation right. We would definately stay here again. Perfection!
Wieder einmal wundervoll
Wir kehrten nach 2 Jahren wieder in Altea für den Urlaub zurück, dieses Mal mit Kinder und Großeltern. Wie vorhin, war alles wunderbar.
Vielen lieben Dank!
Gorgeous holiday at Villa La Madrugada!!
We were a group of 8 family members ranging from age 8 to (almost) 80. We had wonderful communication with the owner during the planning process and with the lovely Heidimarie during our stay. Heidimarie met us just off the highway and escorted us to the villa. It was exactly as shown on the photos and even more! Our family enjoyed the villa and the perfect touches so much that we honestly did not want to leave. We visited Moraira, Old Altea, Calpe and Bennidorm (our least favorite - too busy). We enjoyed lazy days by the pool and under the gorgeous pergola having meals. We truly had a lovely time and hope to be back. If we are ever planning another trip to Spain we will look no further than La Madrugada - why look further when you have found perfection!!! Thank you again for letting us enjoy your gorgeous villa!! The Nemeth and Piccoli families
The listing was accurate and the villa presented the memories we enjoyed. I have close friends who would enjoy this rental immensely.
La Madrugada: Discover the beauty of Altea.
Altea, probably the most famous town in the region of Valencia is always worth a visit. For people that want to enjoy the tranquillity far away from stress of every day life or for those who are looking for sun, beach and sea: the small fisher men's town Altea fulfils many desires. As the cultural centre of the Valencia region the town became a destiny for art and concert lovers. Various weekly markets invite to a stroll and the historic old town and tasteful promenades offer restaurants of all types and price rages. The sandy beach close to Altea in Calpe and the famous town Benidorm are easy to reach.
Golf: The golf course Don Cayo was integrated in the middle of the urbanisation and is defined by narrow and hilly Fairways. The delightful mountain panorama and the sea view make this golf course very special.
There is a driving range with 5 tees and a putting green. The 9 hole golf course requires a registered handicap (36).
