Woods Crossing is owned by Larry & Jacki Wood. We both grew up road tripping with our families and have now made it a big part of our own family. We believe every great road trip includes 3 things: something educational and/or historical; something fun the kids will LOVE; and something new you've never experienced before. Oh, and eat LOCAL food!!!
For over 10 years now, we have also traveled across the country with Jacki's family, staying in vacation rental homes. It's so much better and cheaper than hotels when you have five families that want to vacation together, which is where we got the idea for Woods Crossing.
We weren't really looking for a place like this when we found it. But we think it's pretty perfect. We have family scattered all over the US and Missouri provides a central location for us to get together. We love the trees, the rocks, the pond ... and the STARS are amazing. And lots to see and do near here.
We had an excellent time being able to enjoy the various family members in a comfortable setting.
We had a great stay. Was perfect for what we needed. Very private and comfortable.
On arriving it was what we expected from the site description except the other house was closer than expected. The rental was fully equipped with bathroom, kitchen, laundry room, and toys and games. We enjoyed the quiet, peaceful setting and then still were close to big city and small town options. We all had a great time and would consider renting again. Thank you for the place to make another memory with our family.
Such a neat property! We loved our stay and would definitely stay again if ever in the area. The owners were always so quick to respond to all my questions. Overall, a wonderful experience!
The only thing missing from this luxury rental property was a sign to help find the driveway. Everything was as described and pictured. Additionally, the owners were both responsive and respectful. Initially the internet was not working but the issue was resolved promptly.
Thanks for the great stay!
We booked a family trip last minute and am so glad it worked out. Jacki quickly answered our countless questions in detail prior to booking, and eased all of our worries about traveling to an unfamiliar area. You will have full access to the rental cabin, which includes a beautiful fireplace and large kitchen. From the outside it looks like you are staying in a garage of sorts, but once inside it's absolutely beautiful. If you imagine a cabin in the woods, that is the feel that you will get once you walk in the door. They offer games (Board games, foosball, wii) for the family to play, and lots of sitting room for family gathering and entertaining, including numerous TV's with lots of sports channels (Which the guys loved). The bedroom area has a full size bed, and 4 twin size beds. We had a group of about 10 of us, which was a tight fit but we were able to make it work. There is one bathroom, with a shower, and washer/dryer too. We will absolutely come again, and look forward to becoming frequent visitors. Thank you so much for accommodating us. So glad we found you!!
Woods Crossing is located just outside of Lock Springs, MO, conveniently between Chillicothe and Jamesport, the largest Amish community in the state. The facility is nestled on 13 acres of wooded land, full of bright stars and peaceful countryside. There are no services in Lock Springs, so make sure you fill up, get your groceries or have dinner before you arrive. The property is fairly secluded, hidden in our woods, and just off a blacktop highway up a long gravel driveway. You can hear some road traffic - and the occasional train in the distance - but the facility is up on a hill and mostly hidden from the road (less so in the winter when the trees are bare).

While we don't allow it on our property, this area in Northwest Missouri is great for hunting. There are several conservation areas within a short distance that are great for all seasons.
Nearby Jamesport is the largest Amish community in the state. It has a variety of specialty shops including antiques, quilt and fabric, bakeries, creamery, bulk goods, collectibles, furniture and more. Visit jamesport-mo.com or jamesportmissouri.org to learn more.
Poosey Conservation Area is just a few miles away. It contains forests, grasslands, croplands, prairie/savanna and old field habitats with an extensive trail system and features bicycling, hiking, bird watching, fishing, hunting and more.
Chillicothe is about 15 miles from here and has an extensive parks system, golf course, movie theater, bowling alley, restaurants, shopping and more.
