Comfortable Inviting Cottage

  • 5 of 5

(Tip: - I've used VRBO for the past 5 years and carefully read through description, look at pictures and maps of location! ... and ask questions of owners if I'm not clear on something before I rent. I've never been disappointed.)

I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious feel of the cottage! The rooms were bright, inviting and beds comfortable. Everything was very clean and welcoming when we arrived. The check in procedure was easy through management office even though we were after hours. Although its interior and exterior are in keeping with its original construction the furnishings are modern and general upkeep well maintained. If you read the details of the property and check map location there will be no surprise to you that you are on a corner and across the street from Gould's Inlet public beach access. (not "on" the beach) You are "beach front" but not on the beach - I can see how this could be confusing. Look at the map. You are in a neighborhood and the surrounding homes are mostly high end single family homes and it is nice to see the families come and go from the beach together. (If you are looking for something secluded and private this may not be the place). If you are tidal fishermen, paddlers etc and want to get out on the water when tides are right, go for it. Its a perfect place to be. The public beach parking is very limited so the access is mostly used by local home owners and occasional kayak / paddle board outfitters dropping off and picking up boards and frequented by family fishermen (w/kids). The sunrise is spectacular view from the beach and if you walk a few blocks down the road you can see the sunset over the marsh. Also, you do have to navigate over rocks (or walk around them) depending on tides and a shallow tidal pool to cross over to beach side and pay attention to tides but its all part of the adventure. We fished, paddle - boarded, bird watched. Beautiful fun.The tidal change and early mornings were favorite times. Thank you for the stay.
