Cozy easy to maintain home for weekend retreat
My grandson and I stayed here for a week in August. It was great it was close to everything we wanted to see about 30 minutes to Gainesville 30 minutes to Ocalla and about an hour to Saint Augustine. The home is exactly as advertised it has a very nice kitchen with all the appliances and dishes you could use. It also has a nice living room area to enjoy the television which had more channels than you could ask for. The Wi-Fi worked great I have no complaints about anything . The upstairs is very nice there is a metal spiral staircase which is shown in the picture that you have to climb to get to the second floor, but upstairs are two lovely bedrooms and a nice half bath and a deck on the master bedroom that looks out over the lake. The washer and dryer are great it was only my grandson who's 15 and myself that stayed there but it certainly is set up for many more people to stay if you were having a family reunion huge backyard nice area around the lake. It would be perfect if it was cooler in August😜Ps.. The air conditioner worked great so we stayed cool inside.😋Pat was great he texted to check if we needed anything and our experience could not have been better. I highly recommend it if you want to get away from it all.
The house was very clean and well kept. The owner was very helpful and kind. There were so many extras, tubes, life jackets, dishes in the garage, laundry facilities, additional chairs, lots of towels etc. We thought Wifi was not working but it was a misunderstanding of the caps etc so he will make that a little more clear for you :) The stairs are spiral and may not be best for some folks based on health and fitness levels. Coming in the night was freaky, so try to avoid that. GPS took us through a gravel road that was somewhat scary due to the remoteness of the area and late night but three days later we discovered the more populated and lit route. As you enter the property, after opening the gate, it seems somewhat foresty, there are two houses as you drive in, one is on the left, not the house, pass that one and a little bit lower the house is on the right. There are no lights or paved roads so that is why I say daytime arrival might be better but the owner was nice enough to leave the front lights of the house on. In morning, the views are spectacular and the beauty of nature just exudes. The guys took the canoe out with the kids for a spin, they had so much fun. The lake is beautiful, but it is marshy at the ends so you really cannot swim or play at the banks or fish and there is no walk out deck or pier per se....but you could fish from the canoe I guess if you wanted. That was my only regret. We were lucky enough to see the lotus in bloom, so beautiful. Cell phone reception is sporadic. It was about an hour away from most activities...but Itchetuknee Springs is a must do! We ended up going back second day. The house was so comfortable and had room for more than our 4 adults and four children. I would absolutely stay again.
The house is in a very quiet, natural location. It has all of the amenities a family needs to feel at home (all the kitchen tools needed to make meals every day, nice living area, dining table, comfortable couches, clothes washer and dryer, good beds, dressers, closets, etc.). The house is positioned to get a good amount of sunlight without getting too hot from the sun. It is a great place to be away from everything to hear and see nature.
We enjoyed our stay VERY much. Owner is great. We definitely will return.
Recently retired, my wife and I were looking for a relaxing southern escape from the northern winter. This property was all the owners said it would be and more. Situated on the shore of a small lake surrounded with reeds, we enjoyed the variety of water fowl, birds of prey and other wildlife that kept us company. From the spacious second story master bedroom with french doors opening onto the large deck we awoke to the magnificent view of the morning mist on the lake. In general, the house was very comfortable and spacious, thanks to the efforts of the owners who made sure there were all of the "creature comforts" one would surround themselves with at their own home. Everything in good working order, we did not require the owners to be onsite during our 12 night stay, however, their periodic check-ins and their prompt responses to email were always attentive, accommodating and friendly.
