About the property

Historic Bed & Breakfast, Filled with Antiques, Downtown, Immaculately Restored

Looking for more than the typical vacation home? This beautiful historic landmark is one of the most well-known homes in Salt Lake City. Our rooms are LIGHTLY themed and they each have their own private bathroom. The common areas are filled with classic antiques and we pride ourselves on the ambiance and the comfort that this home provides to our guests.

The Ellerbeck Mansion is conveniently located at the corner of 3rd Avenue and B Street, in a quiet residential neighborhood just under five blocks from the center of downtown Salt Lake City, including the convention center. Guests can walk to Historic Temple Square, the Salt Palace convention center, museums, Family History Library, downtown shopping and dining. The mansion is a short 13-minute drive from the Salt Lake International Airport and less than 30 minutes from our famous ski resorts.

We are big enough to meet your business and travel needs, yet small enough to provide you with the intimate grace of Victorian times. Breakfast is can either be taken in your room or in the large formal dining room, and we have very flexible hours for when we serve it. A continental-style breakfast comes with the price of the room, or you can chose to pay a little extra and we'll bring in a fancy breakfast made by a master chef at a restaurant down the street.

SPRING BREEZE ROOM: This is one of our most unique rooms since it has its own private balcony. It is very lightly themed and it's located on the upper floor right off of the formal reading area. It has the largest bathroom in the house and the queen-size bed has super high-quality bedding and linens.

Guests may use the living room to relax, read, or work. Guests may also use the small fireplace room upstairs, which is like another small living room. Guests are also welcome to use the dining room and the full kitchen, as long as they clean up after themselves. There is a large shaded back yard that guests may relax in. We will either have a full-time caretaker on premises or one that lives within a few blocks. Either way, we'll be there to greet you and get you settled in, provided you coordinate your check-in time with us ahead of time.

ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD: The Avenues District is the historic district for Salt Lake City. It's filled with all sorts of mansions and manor homes and has several eclectic restaurants and shops scattered among the homes. It's a very quiet and affluent neighborhood and it will lend itself to a perfect bed & breakfast experience for you!

Why Cami chose The Avenues

The Ellerbeck Mansion is one of the oldest homes in the state of Utah. It's been perfectly restored to it's original glory of when it was built in 1892 by Thomas & Henrietta Ellerbeck. Thomas was the original clerk to President Brigham Young and died in 1895. Henrietta was Thomas' 3rd plural wife and lived in the house until 1903, when she sold it to the Armstrong family, who eventually turned it into a Bed & Breakfast. The rich history of this home, along with its antique ambiance, make it the perfect bed and breakfast for those who are looking for a classic mansion with all of the modern amenities.

What makes this estate unique

The Ellerbeck Mansion is unique because of its location, since it's a mere 4 blocks from the center of the city. It's in the historic home district of the city, so it doesn't have an urban feeling at all, yet it's so close to everything in the city.

One of the most unique features of the Ellerbeck Mansion is the carriage house out back. It can host small and large events in it, including weddings, corporate retreats, company training retreats, etc. The VRBO listing page for that events center is www.vrbo.com/825400.

Regan the innkeeper was great and responsive We were in Spring Breeze and room is cute and comfy but when getting into sleep we found it hard not to be rolled into a valley. Maybe a box spring needs checking. ??Breakfast was filling with bottomless coffee. Am spoiled I guess to expect in house baked goods but there were many choices of cold cereals and store baked goods. Wonderful fresh fruit every am

Great B&B - Better than any Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful historic bed & breakfast while visiting family and it was absolutely fantastic. The Innkeeper was very attentive but it didn't feel like he was standing over us - he stayed in the carriage house out back. The free breakfast was wonderful and we upgraded to the gourmet breakfast a couple of days, which was worth the few bucks. The Innkeeper actually had happy hour for us at their antique bar (coolest part of the house) in the afternoon and we had a great time. 5 stars for sure!!
