Our family loved our stay at the Ranch! It was so peaceful, and beautifully maintained. It really did feel like "getting away from it all". We got our faces out of our phones and enjoyed fishing in the ponds, walks along the property, bottle feeding a new baby calf, and relaxing evenings by the outdoor fireplace. Both, the indoor kitchen and outdoor kitchen were fabulous. The bedrooms and bathrooms very spacious and comfortable. The ranch is situated on acres and acres of beautiful land with stunning sunsets. We highly recommend a visit to White Buffalo Ranch!
I visited with my husband, adult daughter and her fiance, my sister and her husband and young son. This place was a perfect location for the 7 of us to be together, but still have room to spread out. We loved the outdoor fireplace. We had many great laughs enjoying the fire while my husband grilled up dinner in the outdoor kitchen nearby. I cannot say enough about the two great ranch hands. Schlomo and John. They attended to whatever we needed without being intrusive. Schlomo invited my son to feed a baby bull. For us city people, that was a first time experience and one we won't soon forget. One thing that really struck me was how unique it was to be sitting in this very upscale private lodge and look over the pastures with cows. Even though its a working ranch, it was really clean and to my surprise it didn't smell like the farms I'm used to. The cows were beautiful and made you feel like you were so far away, when really we were a few minutes from town. One of our favorite things to do was fish. We fish in large lakes pretty often and you spend hours waiting for a bite, so it was fun to get so many bites. Each couple had our own room and the beds were so comfortable. Lots of bathrooms which was nice too. The kitchen was amazing and had everything we needed. For us cooks in the group we loved the gas range and the huge spice cabinet. Just bring your main ingredients you can cook up some serious meals. When you book the ranch you get the whole grounds which is great with an active little boy. He could run around as much as he wanted and be as loud as he wanted. He could run from one house to the next. I would say its important to explain to your child or maybe even whole group about respecting where you are. There is beautiful artwork all around and you're in a natural place that is stunning... so let's keep it that way! We played card games, laughed by the fire and enjoyed meals together as a family all without any "devices" which is so rare. I have to say I noticed my blood pressure going down and I felt so calm during my visit. The White Buffalo Ranch was exactly what our group needed and way more then we expected. We are already planning our next visit!
I am always hesitant to try new places as I hate to stay away from home. My significant other joined our family for a stay here. GPS took us straight to the property. The giant statues of animals on the drive in was very inviting. I was shocked to learn the dining lodge was just the dining lodge as it was breathtaking and beautiful! So much room that 5 of us were in the kitchen moving about and preparing the meal while my father was using the outdoor kitchen to grill the main course. Following dinner we walked out onto the patio to sit by the fire. I was even more shocked when I discovered the lodge had more than enough sleeping spaces. It was just a fantastic time. We enjoyed playing pool, fishing, running around the yard and learning about the cattle they had as well as the alpacas which I have discovered is a missing piece of my farm at home! The ranch was all around a great time! Every need we had was met, all I brought were my clothes and some food and EVERYTHING else was provided. If your children are respectful and you can successfully watch them then your time at the ranch should be nothing less than fantastic. I read the review about it not being kid friendly. I found that to be untrue. My 5 year old brother LOVES this place. They did a great job at accommodating our needs and I would recommend this place to anyone who was respectful and responsible! Such a great time and I cant wait to go back to have more fun at this ranch! Definitely a 5 star place with 5 star ranch hands!!!!!!
Seven family members, including 3 couples and 5 yr old boy, had a great weekend experience at the White Buffalo Ranch. We like to get away. And we love to do stuff together. This place offered plenty of both.
Mostly as a group, we walked and played on the enormous grounds. We hung out in the kitchen a lot. What a kitchen. (I want that giant VIKING stove in my house now).We watched our pre-school aged Nephew feed a newly calved baby bull with ranch hand John. Together, we caught fish (and fed the fish), we rode, in a 6 person ATV, all around the 800+ acre ranch with Schlomo, one heckuva nice guy, another resident ranch hand. The rugged ride through the woods, pastures, hills, valleys, and streams was a ton of fun for us all. The Missouri back country was beautiful and peaceful.
Its also worth mentioning that the bunk house is a separate building from the building that housed the kitchen and gathering spaces. It was just few short steps away, but it was fantastic for all of that to be separated from the peaceful lodge. The lodge included bedrooms, multiple rec rooms and beautiful decks. In the other building, in addition to the kitchen, there were two dining areas, a huge den, and a very large, we equipped outdoor covered patio area . And there was lots of firewood anywhere you'd want a fire.
We always promise to disconnect from "the screens" when we spend family time together, but it never, really, seems to happen. Thanks to being so far removed from everything, we really did disconnect. We mostly only used our devices as cameras. And... the photos are amazing.
This was more than just a "get away," we felt it was more like a vacation, just a couple hours from home. I could go on, but Im running out of space here...
Sincerely, thank you for a memorable weekend. We are all talking about when we can come back... for a few more days this time.
The ranch far exceeded our expectations for our families get-away. When we arrived we were greeted by a ranch hand named Shelomo. He was so warm and welcoming to our group. He showed us around the dining hall and the lodge. After making sure we had everything we needed he offered for my 5 year old son to feed one of the baby calf Mr. B. Shelomo made arrangement to meet us to feed the calf and a tour of the ranches 880 acres. The lodge had sleeping for up to 28 people so our 7 person group had plenty of room to roam. As a grill master I enjoyed the outdoor kitchen where all the meals we cooked on the grill and cook top. With the cool weather we were able to start a large fire in the outdoor fireplace to keep warm and visit outside in the evening. The kids loved fishing in the ponds and playing pool on the pool table in the lodge. Due to the fact we were the only people at the ranch besides the ranch hands the kids were able to play and not worry about anyone bothering them. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were supplied with linens, soap, and shampoo. The commercial kitchen in the dining hall had a large Viking oven and a commercial dishwasher and commercial sinks. The ladies agreed that a stay at the lodge to do Christmas baking would be cool. The lodge provides you with 3 gigs of WIFI. This is plenty to check an email or check in on Facebook. There is no need to stream movies as the lower level of the lodge has a big screen television with satellite and a large library of DVD's. We didn't even tell the teenagers there was WIFI available as we figured there apps would burn up all the available Wi-Fi. It was nice to see them unplug and actually have to talk to one another. We had a family game night in the lower level of the lodge. The large conference table was perfect for playing card games; there was also a poker table, a black jack table and a room full of games.
We saw the ranch hands working and running around the farm tending to their 260 + cattle and what we think were alpacas (lamas). There were babies everywhere.
The entire experience was amazing. You can bring your clothes and food you want to eat and literally everything else is right there. There was even a cabinet in the kitchen filled with spices. We are already planning our next trip to the ranch.
The White Buffalo Ranch is a beautiful location, and the facilities are very nice. We greatly enjoyed what the property had to offer. Unfortunately, the property is under newer ownership that appears to not have fully decided what direction they wish to go with their property. The owners made our stay unduly stressful. One or both of the owners was on the premises every day of our stay in an apartment in one of the main buildings that we were using. We felt as if we were being babysat. The facilities were overfilled with large, expensive decorations making it very family unfriendly. The owners expected significant amounts of housekeeping that were not delineated in the rental contract or the unexpected, supplementary “house rules” sheet which also caused undue stress and unnecessary work for a vacation. The internet is not high-speed, and you are limited to a data cap, 3GB for our 1 week stay. There is only wifi available in the dining facility and not the sleeping quarters. Sprint and Verizon do not receive reception at this property. This is a beautiful location to vacation, but I would suggest adults or older children only and be very specific with the owners about what is expected during your stay.
The Lodge at White Buffalo Ranch is located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains and borders The Mark Twain National Forest. We are just minutes from the Gasconade and Niangua rivers which are great for rafting, tubing, canoeing or kayaking. Just down the road from us you have the Lake of the Ozarks which has a plethora of water sports, restaurants and bars, also some great shopping. For an evening filled with entertainment you can visit Branson and check out one of their world famous music venues. For those looking for a little adventure you can visit one of the many cave systems or go Zip lining through the forest. Just ask our property manager and I am sure he can help guide you to the perfect adventure.
