Disappointed in month of July.

  • 2 of 5

Tried for 2 days to get in touch with the owner to advise him that the fridge had a huge dent, was leaking and that the washing machine was not working. Finally had to call Home Away to get a response. Had a repair man for the washer -they had to order parts. He never followed up with us to find out whether the washer was ever fixed - it was not. We spent about $100.00 during the month going to the laundromat.

Location is very good and the community is very nice.

Rented this for the month based on the advertised "renovation"

Very sloppy renovation- very poor lighting and living room floor has serious dip. Felt like floor was going to "give way"

Downstairs toilet feels like it is not secure.

Cabin appears not to have been properly maintained.

It was very quaint. My girls (ages 12, 10, and 6) enjoyed the uniqueness of the chalet.

My family had a great time. The only thing that we didn't care for were the extra 8 legged occupants that were found in some of the corners....we have a little arachnophobia.

The location was good, easily accessible to the parkway. We went hiking instead of visiting Tweetsie as originally planned. Met a neighbor who was extremely nice. The office lady was very helpful during check in.

The chalet was very cozy.

Great Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Everything was simply wonderful!! We had no surprises, everything was as described on the site. We had a great stay and felt very much at home. The only thing missing was a fireplace, just for the fun of it. But, really the home was very well equipped and we had a great stay. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your home. We hope to be back soon!!!!

Best mountain house we've found yet!!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful experience!! The house was so nice, the remodel was done expertly. Decor and furnishings were well thought out and gave a cohesive feel through the whole house. Loved having the washer and dryer, dishwasher, and furnished kitchen. Very clean and up-to-date accomodations. Location is great too; about a 10 minute ride (scenic & beautiful) to downtown Boone. The neighborhoods is super cute, quiet, & clean. The owners were a pleasure to deal with & helped make our vacation a seamless one. The Grandview Restaurant in Banner Elk is a must! We would not hesitate returning & can't wait to bring friends next time.

Our chalet is located just off highway 105 between Boone and Banner Elk. The neighborhood has a charming green with a stream and fishing pond. A playground area, tennis courts, basket ball hoop and a seasonal swimming pool are a shared community diversion when you are done enjoying the local attractions. Take in all the charm of the surrounding towns. Blowing Rock with it's main street of shops and restaurants and a darling town park. Boone a progressive and growing area with a lovely downtown cool vibe. Nearby Valle Cruis with a lovely riverside park and the historic Mast General Store is a must see. Lots of shopping including outlets at the Tanager Outlet Mall. If you are into antiquing don't miss all the lovely shops dotted all around the area. Wintertime brings in winter sports including skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing at the many local ski slopes. Spring catch the mountain laurel in its full glory and the beauty of springtime in the highlands. Summer offers a chance to getaway from the humidity and enjoy outdoor activities like biking, kayaking', fishing and just wading in the coolness of the many nearby rivers. Fall be dazzled by the show the leaves put on and many festivals that the local communities put on. Check out Tweetsie Railroad and the beautiful Grandfather Mountain. So much to do in any season at the NC mountains!
