A perfect holiday experience

A great location and perfect vacation home that creates a very peaceful and relaxing experience. Plenty of space while still retaining a cozy and rustic feel. We were blessed with Christmas snow that finalized the postcard perfect views. Thank you!

Dream Accomodations!

  • 5 of 5

It has taken me a couple weeks to review our amazing trip but not because it lacked anything!

Our son graduated WSCU and we wanted to enjoy all of our family so we rented this gorgeous home! Our time in Gunnison has been precious and this was the perfect way to celebrate and enjoy everyone along with the beautiful landscapes of Gunnison!

There is nothing lacking in the way of pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc. The rustic elegance that this property exudes is exquisite and tasteful making us wish we were still there! The beds and linens were wonderful, towels were soft and white. We appreciate that Stan and Pam have put alot of thought and care into maintaining this property and sharing it with others. Because our family appreciates antiques, history, and beautiful decor we all were in awe of this cabin! My mother in law enjoyed some of the old books in the miners cabin for her lazy mornings or afternoon pastime. We almost don't want to say too much about this property because it's one of those "best kept secrets". Elizabeth welcomed us, she is absolutely adorable! She was very sweet and thoughtful, answering questions and checking in to make sure we had everything we needed! Dave (think that's his name) even let us borrow his garage door opener during our stay. He came to feed and check the horses daily, was pleasant chatting with him.

Stan made the rental process seamless and was super accomodating and prompt at responding to my emails. For anyone that hasn't been to Gunnison the wildlife is amazing! Drives to Almont, Crested Butte, Spring Creek, and of course Roaring Judy Hatchery bring unexpected animal sightings. Each trip we are blessed to have a cool animal sighting its natural habitat. This year we were fortunate to see a fox in her den with about 5 kits being playful. We were even able to stop and take videos and photos.

We thouroughly enjoyed the backyard. The log furniture was so comfortable for hanging out and visiting after the graduation ceremony. We took advantage of the barbecue in the cook shed, it's fully equipped has everything you need to enjoy and grill outdoors.

This cabin/home is simply one of a kind making it a dream vacation for those that love the outdoors with plenty of room for the whole family to enjoy! We talk about our trip often and will have lasting memories of Wiley Spur Ranch! Thank you Hegner's for sharing a peice of your home with us! We hope to come again and will be planning a longer stay next time!

The property is exquisite. There are not enough adjectives to describe the beauty. It's timeless.

We stayed for 30 days. The weather was fabulous. There were deer, hawks, hummingbirds, swallows, horses, and maybe a skunk. Views of the mountains and hay fields from every window. I lost my husband in the house a few times. The kitchens were equipped with everything needed, included a good supply of spices. We enjoyed Dave's daily visits and Elizabeth checking in to be sure we wanted for nothing. The leather furniture was more comfortable than ours at home! The location to Gunnison, Crested Butte, and hiking locations was perfect. The stars were incredible at night. You could easily fall asleep outside listening to the wind in the aspens. There was a cattle drive down the road our first week. How awesome is that? Met a few of the neighbors on our nightly walks. If we had brought our horses, we would still be there! Thanks for a great month and for letting us stay in such a beautiful location to escape the Arizona heat.

In 7 years of leasing a property for vacation, this was THE BEST!

  • 5 of 5

The property manager, sweet Elizabeth, was a dream! She met us and showed us around the property and kept in touch with us throughout our stay. The place was amazing! The older cabin was perfectly decorated in period pieces, yet all the comforts of home. The newer part of the cabin was so very well built and attention to detail was amazing. JOB well done.

Just a hop, skip, and a jump west of the cabin we were on BLM land riding trails on our ranger all day. It was fantastic.

Great location, well appointed and comfortable home for any adventure.

  • 5 of 5

The Wiley Spur Ranch is a perfect location to access every adventure in the Gunnison-Crested Butte area. The house is a combination of a restored miners cabin and a large addition. It is decorated beautifully in a western theme and very comfortable. The views from inside looking outside are spectacular. If you love cooking and gathering outside, this is the perfect place. The large firepit area and cooking shed made our evenings very enjoyable. Grilling outside and roasting marshmallows were our nightly activities. The stars in the sky were breathtaking. Coyotes howling in the distance could be heard. Activities close by included white water rafting, fly fishing, horseback riding, hiking and shopping in Gunnison and Crested Butte areas. We attended the oldest rodeo during Cattlemens Days in Gunnison, (117 years) and were not disappointed. This is the perfect house for those who love to play outdoors but also love coming home to a beautiful and comfortable home.
