I booked this place for my family in April 2016 for travel in July 2016. One week prior to my departure I received an automated e-mail from VRBO stating I had a credit on my account. I had others rentals booked so it took a bit to figure out it was for my Vancouver stay. I called and e-mailed the owner. It took her 2 days to get back to me. Her response was "my condo no longer accepts short term rentals so I had no choice" I immediately started looking for a new place but with less than one week prior to my visit, the options were limited. I had to stay in a hotel which is not ideal for 5 people. The rate of course was higher than what this unit would have been. I few days later I checked my credit card statement and no credit had shown up. The owner took even longer to get back to me this time. 3 days later, she finally said that it was out of her hands and she never even saw the money I had paid 3 months prior. She gave me a number at VRBO to call which did not work. I reached out by e-mail to VRBO and they said that it takes 7-10 days for me to get my return. I could never talk to a live person. Once I did get my refund, it was less than what I had paid previously by about $100. I began calling again. This time, the owner ignored me. VRBO was very difficult to get a hold of but after several transfers and being on hold for a long time, I got to a live person. It turns out that because I paid in US then it was converted to Canadian $, I have to take the risk for currency conversion. I find it very hard to believe that the exchange rate changed that much in 3 months. My guess is that there were fees on both ends and I paid them. I am also a property owner and have used VRBO to advertise my property. I have never used them to process payments or handle any other admin process' but I am considering pulling my owned property because I have a hard time doing business with a company like this. I will NEVER use VRBO to pay for a vacation rental again. Also stay away from this particular unit.
Unfortunately no AC during the summer was an issue for us. Limited closet space. TV did not work. Could have been a bit cleaner.
This rental experience is the worst we've ever had in more than a decade as vacation rental guests and as owners/managers ourselves. After booking this unit and paying in full months in advance, our family of five was left stranded on a Vancouver street at midnight unable to gain access to this unit. The owner is the only person who can provide access and incredibly, he went to bed and turned off his cellphone even though he and the property manager had been told long in advance that our flight to Vancouver didn't arrive from the east coast until late. Even though we were assured a late check in wouldn't be a problem, since access to the unit was handled remotely by simply calling the phone number given to us, this owner instead went to bed and turned off his cell knowing he had guests who'd flown 7 hours to get there.
Since this owner also does not manage this property and the property manager also was out of town, there was no one in Vancouver to give us access to the unit. After more than half a dozen calls, no cabs to be found or hotels in sight we ended up walking 6 city blocks with all our luggage in tow (now nearing 1am Vancouver time/4am to us) to another unit the property manager had open for just one night. Since we'd paid for an all day tour starting at 8am the next morning we had just a few hours sleep before having to load all of our bags back up again for another trek back to the unit we paid for in the hopes the owner might actually answer the phone this time. This same property manager uses a Key Cafe, common in Vancouver, to provide keys for her other units. That simple backup system could have saved our family, and who knows how many others this has happened to, a horrendous start to our long-awaited family vacation.
As vacation rental owners/managers, we know first-hand the challenges of managing a successful vacation rental. Allowing paid guests entry to their rental is priority #1. If you have guests arriving late and know that you are the only way they can get in (which is not an effective system to begin with) you don't get to turn off your phone. Maintaining the unit for guests is priority #2. This condo had holes in the bedroom door, bathroom walls, water damage and broken vanity drawers. It shows all the signs of unit suffering from rental wear and tear. The condo's view is top-notch but this owner doesn't seem to understand that managing a vacation rental is a customer service business.
Well-kept apartment with excellent views in Yaletown -- walking distance to Granville and Robson Streets! Lots of natural light and wonderful amenities in the building including a pleasant gym, olympic size pool, picnic area and hot jacuzzi! Definitely recommended.
My wife and I wanted to stay downtown for an event. This apartment is conveniently located a couple blocks from Yaletown as well as the two stadiums, for people without a car it is perfect. The view from the 37th floor is breathtaking, we were fortunate to wake up to a beautiful sunny morning overlooking false creek. The homes is clean and comfortable with two bedrooms, two full bathrooms and all the necessities you need. We definitely recommend!
