About Allison and Joseph Yeomans

Allison and Joseph Yeomans live in Thompson, CT with our two springer spaniels, Ben and Archie. Allison is a RN who grew up in Woodstock, CT, Joe is a contractor from Cohasset, MA. Married in RI in 2004, we lead very busy lives, both continue to work full time but we still find time to travel, especially to Florida and Maine.

Allison and Joseph Yeomans purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Allison and Joseph Yeomans chose Florida South Central Gulf Coast

We love the town of Englewood for its beauty, and old Florida charm. It remains a tourism centered area without the busy traffic, high-rises, and crowds of Fort Myers or Sarastoa. We started off renting seasonally here and finally found the property we were looking for. As soon as we saw the waterfront view and our first sunset we knew Cypress by the Sea was for us. We still have trouble figuring out why anyone would want to rent anywhere but Englewood.

What makes this cottage unique

"Cypress by the Sea" is a 1942 cracker house, one of the originals in the neighborhood, it is built from local cypress, no longer commercially available.

It has an authentic old Florida feel. The most beautiful sunset views and a beautiful live oak in the private large yard.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you and also thank you so much for sharing your home with us! Your home and the location was beautiful. It was the perfect vacation!! We aren't the touristy type vacationers, so this was absolutely perfect for us. Our boys were in heaven. The fish they caught were amazing! (They even caught 2 small sharks.)They fished from the dock and also went out on a kayak we rented and fished on the bay.We saw manatee and dolphins everyday! The shade tree was great as hot as it was ;-) The fireworks on July 4th were beautiful. They were everywhere :) We watched the unbelievable sunsets every night from the dock. Again - thank you so much and we will be back again next year!

Stayed here the first part of March 2017. This cottage met all our needs and if you read this, you need to make arrangements to stay here if you are in Englewood or want to visit other surrounding municipalities. Easy to get anywhere and the cottage gets you away from your residential suburb/city experience.

Charming Cottge

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at Little Cypress. The entire cottage is light and airy with many windows in every room. The living room is very comfortable with a very nice couch and loveseat and large TV. We enjoyed the sweeping view of the bay from the living room and lanai. The bedrooms were pleasant and roomy with comfortable beds. The grounds were well groomed and the house was impeccably clean. Allison and Joe were very nice to work with and we had absolutely no problems. We will definitely stay here again!

Perfect peaceful paradise

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 13 nights and Allison and Joe were great to work with and very responsive to enquiries. Their home is beautiful, well kept and in the perfect location to suit all activities. A great dock on beautiful Lemon Bay for every kind of fish you could think of. My husband had a great time fishing and watching the wildlife. We had a dolphin right up at the deck which was lovely. A great porch for breakfast and sun downers to watch the amazing sunsets and whiling away the hours reading. Beaches are just 5 minutes away and are fantastic water a little cooler at this time of year but great none the less. Shopping close by and shopping malls and cinema about 20mins. Dearborn Street is a mile away and has nice restaurants and little shops. Venice is also worth a wander around. All in all a delightful spot.

I would purchase this property if it were available - wonderful vacation cottage on Lemon Bay!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great location for fishing, relaxing, and enjoying marine wildlife. We brought our 17 ft tandem kayak and were able to launch it right from the backyard because there is a small sandy beach area right next to the pier, and there is a dock area to tie up to.

The cottage is adorable and has all the amenities you need, including a washer and dryer. We hit the grocery store (Walmart and Publix are both very close) and the bait shop by the bridge and were set for the week. The internet worked great, and there is cable TV in the living and bedroom areas.

The fishing was AMAZING in Lemon Bay. We took the kayak out every morning and evening for a week and caught at least 25+ fish each time. The fishing finale was catching a small bonnet head shark (set free, of course) on the last night. You can also catch fish from the pier. We saw dolphins every day in Lemon Bay, some near the dock, and there was a mama and a baby manatee pair who came right up to the end of the pier.

If this property were available for purchase, I would grab it because we had a wonderful time and made some amazing memories. The icing on the cake was being able to bring our dogs, who had a great time running around the big backyard and were fascinated by the huge birds (pelicans, egrets, and herons, I think).

The property owners were very responsive, and I can't thank them enough for sharing this little piece of heaven with us!

The perfect relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful relaxing week! The house was great! It was so nice inside, plus we loved the screened in porch! Even though there are other houses around - you didn't notice - it was very private - like our only little resort. The shade tree out front was perfect to sit under when it was a little too hot to enjoy the dock. My family loved the dock and fishing! They caught all sorts of species - red fish, flounder, sea trout, catfish, shark, etc... Everyday we had visits from the manatee. They came right up to the dock! We loved watching them and the dolphins. Our boys kayaked in the bay everyday. Since we had the little sandy beach - it was a great place for them to launch the kayaks. We went to the beaches a couple of days - very short drive away - and they are very nice. The sunsets from the dock and the beach are so beautiful! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home!

Peaceful and Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Little Cypress. The house was well-equipped with everything we needed and more. Allison, the property manager, was attentive and responded to any questions quickly and with so much kindness. We stayed for nine nights and it quickly felt like home. We utilized the sturdy dock for our 19ft boat and were pleasantly surprised with the dock light that allowed us to see our boat at night from the house. There was also a hose hookup at the end of the dock but we didn't need to use it during our stay. The huge yard was a wonderful bonus for our dog and our 4 year old. The views were incredible! We particularly enjoyed the sunset each night. The back porch gets a decent breeze and has a table that is perfect for puzzles. There are plenty of chairs and tables for enjoying the back yard. The shower is a little on the small side but what it lacks in space, it makes it up in awesome water pressure. :) We enjoyed Farlow's restaurant and pulling up to the beach near stump pass. We collected lots of sharks teeth and beautiful shells. It was a wonderful place to stay and I highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much Brittany for the nice review. I'm sorry you found the tub/shower combo on the smaller size, however, this is the standard full size tub, and I'm not sure it could be any bigger. We hope you and the kids return again next year.. Have a great summer!
