Allison and Joseph Yeomans purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Allison and Joseph Yeomans chose Englewood
We love the town of Englewood for its beauty, and old Florida charm. It remains a tourism centered area without the busy traffic, high-rises, and crowds of Fort Myers or Sarastoa. We started off renting seasonally here and finally found the property we were looking for. As soon as we saw the waterfront view and our first sunset we knew Cypress by the Sea was for us. We still have trouble figuring out why anyone would want to rent anywhere but Englewood.
What makes this Cottage unique
"Cypress by the Sea" is a 1942 cracker house, one of the originals in the neighborhood, it is built from local cypress, no longer commercially available. It has an authentic old Florida feel. The most beautiful sunset views and a beautiful live oak in the private large yard.

Loved our stay!
We loved our stay at the house. Nice big yard for the dog. Even had doggie stairs for the bed. Was able to dock our boat there. Which was nice because we were out on the boat at lease twice a day. The house is really cute. The a/c worked great. Enjoyed eating at the local places. Will definitely stay again.
Beautiful and peaceful
The little cottage is very lovely and comfortable. Loved sitting in the screened porch watching the wildlife and going out on the dock to watch dolphins. Would go back to stay again.

Month Long Rejuvenation
We had a wonderful vacation. We fished right off the dock and caught a large variety of fish. We loved the daily beautiful sunsets right from the privacy of our front yard. When we weren’t fishing we enjoyed the shade of the big oak tree where we relaxed with a good book. The house has everything needed from a well stocked kitchen to linens. We have stayed here before and have already booked our next visit.
Such a wonderful place!
We have used VRBO many times in several states, however this was one of our favorites and we will definitely return. We stayed the month of May and although it rained a lot (10th rainiest May on record!) it didn't matter because we fell in love with the bay. We enjoyed sunsets in the backyard as much as the ones we saw on the Gulf. From the dock we saw dolphins and manatees and many, many kinds of birds... one time there was a group of six manatees right below us! If you are an early riser you will see female rowers on the bay. We saw lots of boats daily but none came close enough that you felt like you didn't have privacy. There are houses on each side but they can't really see you so the backyard and screened in porch are nice places to hang out. There is no fenced yard but the dogs loved the screened in porch. There are three beaches in Englewood which are all good for hunting sharks teeth as well as Stump Pass State Park. You can actually do a little bit of shelling and shark tooth hunting to the right of the dock in the backyard at low tide. There are many good restaurants in Englewood and you could probably walk or bike to Dearborn where several restaurants are... the sidewalks are very good. Also Englewood is just a really good centralized location. It is within 30 minutes to an hour of Venice, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Punta Gorda, Boca Grande... I could go on. I usually will not stay someplace that doesn't have a dishwasher or two bathrooms but I would definitely stay here again. The layout is perfect. The air conditioner worked wonderfully. The view was spectacular. The only thing I could think of that would improve it is to put an outlet on the screened in porch so that we could run a fan because on days the humidity is high it's hard to be comfortable out there during the main part of the day, but I'm sure that's not true most times of the year. This cute house from the 40s looks to be recently remodeled and is very clean and has everything you need to have a wonderful vacation. Enjoy!
Wonderful stay at Cyprus by the sea
Very peaceful stay, waking up to beautiful scenery the bay and dock every morning was very nice. My husband was hard to pull away from the dock he really enjoyed the fishing. He caught a couple of flounder some good size Sheepshead and a m to get it closer to the dock my husband and our friend took turns trying to reel it in and just when we thought we might get a look at it but that’s when it spit the hook. We had to imagine what it might of been they did enjoy the challenge though.i highly recommend this rental and since I already booked for next year I am not worried to make my recommendation. Looking forward to next years visit too.
This was a gem! The home was immaculate when we arrived and the location was perfect!
The house sits in a quiet area and it allowed our family to fish and relax on the dock. In the morning we enjoyed watching the rowers on the bay and hearing the birds. The owners really restored this place to its original beauty. We hope to come back and do more exploring of the area! Thank you for ensuring we had everything we needed!
