Our modern condo building is located on a leafy 5 block long park in the uber hip Pearl District of Portland. We are absolutely in the center of all that is cool about the Pearl and have the added advantage of access to green space across the street with a children's playground, bocce pitch and basketball court. Our 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom 750 sq 'unit is on the second floor, (third storey) of a 5 storey modern building. There are only 4 units per floor on our level accessed easily by a large elevator.

THE INTERIOR

LIVING AND DINING ROOM

Our condo is newly painted throughout using rich designer metallic glazes and features new flooring, designer bronze leather furniture in the living room, velvet draperies throughout, peacock velvet and weathered oak chairs around a reclaimed wood dining table that seats 6 in the adjoining dining room. An industrial inspired light fixture hangs over the dining room table and Japanese style floor lamps provide atmosphere and lots of illumination. Black framed original photos in saturated colour dress the walls and are echoed in the luster of the black gloss chandeliers over the kitchen bar.

THE BEDROOM

We have purchased the softest carpeting with the cushiest memory foam under padding we could find for our tranquil bedroom decorated in soothing seafoam and gentle turquoise tones. A luxurious king sized velvet, tufted, wing back bed with very comfortable mattress awaits for you to enjoy the best night sleep possible. The bedroom features 2 sets of windows wrapping around a corner and velvet draperies and sheers. Custom sliding barn doors in the bedroom reveal an ample closet with lots of drawer and hanging space and 2 plush robes for you to relax in. The bed is lavished with 2 king sized down pillows and 2 king down alternative pillows and lots of soft throw cushions. There is a thick duvet and a lighter weight coverlet for warmer nights and sheets and 2 duvet covers and lots of shams.

ENTRY

The condo has a very generous entry and closet and a wide hallway with a curved wall against which is a futon couch that folds down easily to make a single bed suitable for a child. The bar-island is located across from the futon seating area and provides a wonderful vantage point to watch the goings on in the kitchen while sipping a glass of wine.

KITCHEN

Our kitchen has been thoughtfully equipped with everything you need for cooking, baking and entertaining and has a bar area with stools perfect for food prep and conversation. Cupboards reveal lots of glassware including beer glasses, wine glasses and champagne glasses and ice bucket and cocktail shaker. We love coffee and we love to grind our coffee beans so you will find a coffee maker, French Press and grinder. If tea is your thing we have a Tea press as well. Lots of stainless steel pots and pans, bakeware, utensils, salad bowl, chopping board, colander, food containers, stainless bowls, toaster, kettle, blender and cultlery and dishes service for 8. The fridge, stove and dishwasher are all stainless steel and the range is gas.

BALCONY

French doors in the living room reveal a lovely balcony with eucalyptus wood lounging chairs with colourful, comfortable cushions, a wood tile floor and a table so that you can enjoy a meal or a cocktail al fresco. If you are relaxing on the balcony after dark solar lanterns add atmosphere.

BATHROOM

The sophisticated bathroom features a silk shaded chandelier light fixture over the copper sink and capiz shell framed mirrors that contrast with rich bronze walls, a rain shower faucet, bronze fixtures and accessories. Lots of thick towels and facecloths, a hair dryer, shampoo and conditioner are provided and the vanity has 6 drawers and under sink space.

EXTRA BED

If you require temporary sleeping accommodation for guests we have a queen sized airbed and a very comfortable memory foam topper.

About Terri Bardon

I love urban landscapes. The architecture, the people and pulse of the streets energize me. And my favorite way to explore is on foot. I have walked the dusty streets of Penang Malaysia and the narrow cobbled labyrinth that is Venice, Rio's patterned sidewalks and the narrow alley's of Rome's Latin quarter. This kind of exploration is always more intimate and our condo in the Pearl is perfectly positioned for this kind of exploration.

The very walkable Pearl District in Portland has the energy and rhythm which embraces urban hip and makes it entirely it's own. I admire the spirit that nurtures independent business here and love that I can shop and eat in non chain establishments. I am definitely a coffee and bistro girl. My day in the Pearl starts at one of many very cool coffee bars and bakeries in a 5 block radius to my condo and it ends at cafe where my husband, my teenage daughter and I like to sit street side enjoying the vibrant life that surrounds us.

Why Terri Bardon chose Portland

The Pearl is frequently sited as one of the hippest neighborhoods in North America. Markets, festivals, parades, galleries, live music venues, bars, boutiques and a wide variety of services all contribute to create the vibrant culture that surrounds our condo and is just steps away. The opportunities to stumble upon new and ever more interesting places seems endless to us and we look forward to sharing our vibrant neighborhood with you.

What makes this condo unique

Everything is so close to us in our swanky condo in the Pearl! Just around the corner from our condo is the eclectic World Foods Market Grocery with a fabulous bakery, gourmet deli & soup bar, wine bar and outdoor seating. Another block away is one of our favorite coffee and breakfast cafes, The Pearl Bakery. Very close as well for coffee are favorites Barista, Nossa Familia and Lovejoy Bakers that is located near Jamison Square and has comfortable Adirondack chairs outside as well as ample seating inside. Another favorite breakfast & brunch place is the Daily Cafe and for a true diner breakfast experience, Fullers Coffee Shop, also 1 block away. For a casual lunch or dinner we love the very hip Tilt for great burgers, homemade pies and brews. Cha Cha Cha serves Mexican food in a colorful intimate space and Fatheads, Hotlips Pizza and Little Big Burger are all great choices for an inexpensive fun meal. If you would like to hit a chill place to try some local craft brews and fill your growler,The Big Legrowski is a block and a half away on Couch St. The famous Deschutes Brewery as well as many other brewpubs are all over The Pearl . Every body loves Powell's Books a few blocks away and very close to Powell's is a Whole Foods Market. Wandering towards downtown and Chinatown you will find Voodoo Donuts and Bluestar Donuts and the impossibly cool Sizzle Pie on Burnside open until 3 am. Oldtown- Chinatown also has the vast Saturday market with more than 200 vendors every week. And the first Thursday of every month The Pearl celebrates the arts with a giant festival lining the streets of the Pearl with tents featuring artists, wine &food . Directly across the park from our condo is the gorgeous U.S. Custom's House a beautiful example of Italian Renaissance architecture and the Museum of Contemporary Craft lies just beyond it. A feast for all!

Comfort in the Pearl

  • 4 of 5

The location was a perfect launching pad for all Portland had to offer. Situated in the heart of the Pearl made access to shops easy. The condo is very comfortable and decorated nicely with all that you need for your stay. The hosts were great to work with and I would recommend it highly.

Excellent Apartment in Portland's Pearl District

  • 5 of 5

This is a new listing and we were the first renters which made us a bit apprehensive. We arrived on a Sunday night for our four week stay. Teri and David were there to meet us and could not have been nicer. The unit is very well represented by the photos. What you see is what you get. Everything you could want is in the unit. The apartment is very comfortable and the location in the Pearl is fantastic. The building is not fancy but it is very nice. We walked all over the city, east, west, north and south and the unit is perfectly situated to explore Portland. There is no parking currently with the unit but we did rent a car several times during our stay and parking was easy on the street or in close by public lots. Some construction started next door while we were there which obstructed the view from the great little porch and limited the light coming into the apartment. If this is a concern check before you book to see what the status of the construction is. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit the greatest small city in America!
