About Vacasa, OR - Mt Hood / Hood River

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Sweet little cabin on an amazing street!

 • 5 of 5

This was a great little cabin on the best street in Government camp! The owners were so welcoming, friendly, and helpful! The cabin was perfect for my family - just a few minutes walk to town and a few minutes to the Glade trail for hiking and sledding! We even skiid right to the cabin from Timberline lodge - so fun!! I'll definitely try to stay here again! Thank you!!

That was the first time we had ever stayed on Mt. Hood in a cabin we had a blast and will now make it our family tradition for Christmas. The experience was wonderful.

Fun cabin for snow fun

 • 5 of 5

Stayed here with another family - total of 3 kiddos. They spent the majority of the time playing in the snow and we couldn't have asked for more.

Perfect Cozy Cabin!

 • 5 of 5

We LOVE Gretel Cabin and all that it has to offer. It's the perfect distance from Govy Camp and scenic trails. This charming, time capsule of Nordic homage is warm as can be if you're snowed in. They even provide a shovel for the driveway! Sleeps a bunch for a such a deal. We'll be back soon.

Very disappointed, cabin was very dirty , bedding, carpet, filthy, bathroom smelled like urine, oven

 • 1 of 5

I was embarrassed to bring my adult daughter and my 11/2 year old grandson there , I asked if I could move / upgrade I was told No! There are two nails sharp ends up in the carpet I hurt my foot on! To many things to list that were unpleasant, the location is great. I would just expect the cabin to be as clean as a motel 6 or something in that price range. Thank you sorry to complain . We were disappointed. Caroline

Gretel Cabin for Life!

 • 5 of 5

We'll be adventuring back to Gretel Cabin as often as we can. It's perfectly located a few steps from town as well as beautiful winter hikes. It's warm and cozy on chilly nights when you're snowed in but it's easy to get to, even for a small car with no traction tires. They even provided a shovel in case the snow really piles up! Great night sleep in this perfect little hideaway.
