Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.
Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.
Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
This place was very cozy cabin on the first and upper floor with a more spacious modern looking master suite with large closet and built-up bathroom fixtures (toilet & bath) on the lower level. To reach the 3 twin beds on the upper level you must climb a steep slanted ladder. That should be noted more clearly in the description as it could be hazardous for some young children and is difficult for older adults to navigate without a proper hand rail.
The cleaning/maintenance service needs to do a better job. The front door glass was dirty, the outdoor porch light didn't work, other lights on the porch didn't work and the sheets were worn and dirty on the master bed. The mattress cover was worse. The shag carpet really needs a good cleaning.
My family of four really enjoyed this place. Easy walk to downtown Government Camp. Nice porch and fire pit.
We were 1 parent and 2 kids (ages 6 and 10) and the Gretel Cabin was perfect. It is a humble, non-fussy place walking distance to the General Store and restaurants. While none of the furnishings are new, it was immaculate, has nicer-than-expected towels, and has a well-stocked kitchen for cooking (the coffee pot was brand new). When I called the property manager to ask for a fan, a new one was delivered quickly. A few notes for folks considering the Gretel Cabin: there are no doors on the bedrooms upstairs. This worked fine for us, since one kid slept in each room, but FYI if you are traveling with adults who want or expect privacy. Also, the ladder to the upstairs bedrooms would be tricky to navigate if you are carrying an infant or wiggling toddler.
We really enjoyed the house. It was a perfect size for the four of us. Consider the ladder for upstairs - great for kids, not do for adults. Kitchen was well stocked. And the area is beautiful.
Overall the cabin was much less rustic and more run down than we expected. The appliances and furniture were old and not working well, the internet was terrible with the router being in the other house and thus the coverage being really bad and the overall place wasn't particularly clean (trash under beds).
