Well equipped cabin in a very unique location- had a great time watching the trains go by during the day and enjoying nature all around. Georgetown is a great little town and the cabin is located close to many fun things to do - we enjoyed hiking and rafting and the fun restaurants. The hosts provided so many nice touches including all the supplies and starter water, coffee, and some tasty local beverages. We had 4 in the cabin with room to spare- the place is larger than the pictures show! Would recommend to anyone considering this and wish all rentals and hosts were this accommodating and well prepared

Authentic ski cabin, close enough, but away from the crowds.

  • 5 of 5

We skied A-Basin and Loveland with the cabin as homebase. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was very comfortable for our family of four. We enjoyed being away from crowds next to the creek. We also opened the blinds and enjoyed watching the wildlife.

Heavenly Secluded!

  • 5 of 5

We had the most wonderful and peaceful stay. The place was perfect! At night a fox would come up and graze on what I assume was bird feed. It was really cool to watch up close and personal. The amenities were perfect and the place was cozy and clean. Ken was awesome to deal with. Very friendly and courteous! Will stay here again. Thank you!

Myself and 3 kids (17, 10 & 4) went and stayed 3 or 4 nights for Christmas. Being from Texas we had a bit of a drive. It was so refreshing to make it to our Christmas rental and it was spotless clean. It felt more like home than any rental we've ever stayed, even more than our home. They even put up a Christmas tree and made it cozy upon arrival. It was so fully stocked that we were comfortable to relax. They had all typed of cleaning products, kitchen supplies and laundry supplies so no excuses to leave too much of a mess. All that was needed is the basic groceries. We cooked and just up the road they had a decent market. We bought, eggs, milk, fresh fruits and veggies and meats. The location is ideal. You could walk into town (we did) but yet secluded so no neighbor if you want to escape people. We never had to leave the town, unless we wanted to but we had no need because the town had it all. We had one issue were a couple cars were parked in the driveway when we would come back from town but that's not an owner issue, there are signs that state private road but you know, some people just don't care, however, they did move. The view, especially this time of year are priceless. There attraction train runs around the cabin. The closes it gets is at the back and it's not that bad at all. Not annoying. Not to us anyway. We will hear it and yell, train is coming! It was cool to see, every time. This time of year it was nicely decorated. The prettiest sight was sitting on the sofa and seeing it pass just out the window, at night, all lited up. It's small for large groups but my bf flew in on the 24th for Christmas and it didn't seem crowded with us 5. It's spacious enough. I think maybe one or two more would even be fine. Probably not too many more than that. We will for sure stay here again if we ever make it back. My kids arw already wanting to go back for spring or summer to fish. Lol. We took many of the best pictures.

About Kenneth P Lyons

Our family relocated back to Colorado in 2012 after a 15 year hiatus away from the state. Our goal from the outset in Colorado was to find a log cabin in the mountains for us and guests to share. We live in Golden and found this wonderful cabin location in Georgetown Colorado that shares our views of being outdoors, seeing the beautiful mountain settings and being around nature. Come share this experience with the Lyons Family.

Kenneth P Lyons purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Kenneth P Lyons chose Georgetown

Once you see the pictures and stay at the Rail Stop cabin you will understand our decision to buy here. Only 12 miles to 25 miles from 6 major Colorado ski areas (Loveland, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Keystone, Copper and Arapahoe Basin) and hiking, biking, railroad and mine tours, climbing, fishing, 4 wheeling etc just out the door it offers the Colorado outback getaway while being close to all the major attractions.

The Rail Stop Cabin maintains the rustic cabin look and feel with all the amenities you expect at a vacation cabin.
