About Kenneth P Lyons

Our family relocated back to Colorado in 2012 after a 15 year hiatus away from the state. Our goal from the outset in Colorado was to find a log cabin in the mountains for us and guests to share. We live in Golden and found this wonderful cabin location in Georgetown Colorado that shares our views of being outdoors, seeing the beautiful mountain settings and being around nature. Come share this experience with the Lyons Family.

Kenneth P Lyons purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Kenneth P Lyons chose Georgetown

Once you see the pictures and stay at the Rail Stop cabin you will understand our decision to buy here. Only 12 miles to 25 miles from 6 major Colorado ski areas (Loveland, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Keystone, Copper and Arapahoe Basin) and hiking, biking, railroad and mine tours, climbing, fishing, 4 wheeling etc just out the door it offers the Colorado outback getaway while being close to all the major attractions.

The Rail Stop Cabin maintains the rustic cabin look and feel with all the amenities you expect at a vacation cabin.

Well equipped cabin in a very unique location- had a great time watching the trains go by during the day and enjoying nature all around. Georgetown is a great little town and the cabin is located close to many fun things to do - we enjoyed hiking and rafting and the fun restaurants. The hosts provided so many nice touches including all the supplies and starter water, coffee, and some tasty local beverages. We had 4 in the cabin with room to spare- the place is larger than the pictures show! Would recommend to anyone considering this and wish all rentals and hosts were this accommodating and well prepared

Perfect Get Away!

  • 5 of 5

Can't wait to go back! The little cabin was perfect for a winter getaway. Very well thought out for any needs we may have had. The location was perfect, very close to the Georgetown Loop Railroad, to town, and within easy driving distance to Blackhawk, Breckenridge, and Keystone. Georgetown was having their annual Christmas Market, it was the best. The cabin is secluded and very private which is so much nicer than a condo. The best part was The Train! We loved watching it go right by the cabin, and loved the horn. The owner, Ken, was also very helpful with all our questions!

Wonderful cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

The Rail Stop Cabin was fantastic! Clean, cozy, well stocked and great location! Secluded but within walking distance to historic Georgetown and easy driving distance to Boulder, Golden, Denver. Unless you plan on eating out, all you need to bring is food. Cabin has lots of spices, condiments, etc, everything you need to make your meals. We even cooked our Thanksgiving dinner there quite easily. The hosts were great and responded immediately to any questions we had. Would definitely recommend this place and we hope to go back someday too!

Comfy with everything we needed

  • 5 of 5

Ken communicated all the information we needed prior to our arrival so that was all easy. The place was just what we needed. We loved how it was rather secluded it was. We also really enjoyed the train. Ken left some local beers in the fridge that was awesome. We didn’t cook while there but the kitchen was well stocked. Looking forward to a return visit.

Great Location, so many things to see and do without a long drive!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Rail Stop Cabin. The location is great. If you like small towns Georgetown and Idaho Springs are so close. If you like big cities Denver and Boulder are an hour or so away. The Georgetown Loop train is so charming. Loved watching it go by several times a day. The train ride is beautiful. We were able to take the Oktoberfest ride with free brats and local beer!

Ken was very responsive to our text messages well before our trip and during our stay. The house is on a private drive behind the train station. We had a little confusion finding the house. The small sign was blocked by a car. We liked the seclusion. Clear Creek is in the front and was most enjoyable sitting on the deck in the brisk mornings drinking coffee.

We have nothing but great things to say about our stay. The house is cozy and the loft area is super cute! The kitchen is well stocked. There's a great little store in town. Was very surprised with their variety.

We decided upon leaving that we will be back! Thank you Ken!

Babbling Clear Creek lulled us asleep.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful A-frame cabin tucked in the woods away from hubbub. Hummingbird feeders entertained us out of doors and made the patios even more perfect to enjoy. The only problem with our trip was that it was not long enough.
