We enjoy the serenity of the forrest, yet exploring the land of enchantment. From golf, fishing, hiking, skiing, tubing, to shopping, the fun never ends. Local casino's, Irish pub with live music or racetrack are great for an adult getaway or miniature golf and horse back riding with the kids! Great restaurants and shopping. If we are not in the mood for entertainment, nothing beats sitting on one of two of the decks grilling, enjoying the sounds of the season creek.
We want this to be your recurrent Ruidoso getaway. Making you feel at home is our goal, which is why we have placed every piece of decor, from the decorative pillows to the kitchen utensils, in our cabin for your use and convenience. Our goal is to have you enjoy our place as much as we do! This life is not a trial run. Do things and stay in places that are worth every minute.
Located on one acre provides privacy yet two minutes driving distance to town. The A-line frame allows for tall windows of spectacular views & sunshine. If privacy & relaxation are needed, there are shutters on every window and remote control blinds for tall windows. Central heating and cooling is a major plus. Gas grill on deck and indoor gas fireplace offer great convenience. Both east and west facing decks to enjoy sunrises and sunsets. Audible seasonal creek provides a tranquil setting. Fully stocked kitchen ready for your home cooked meals. Frequent animal sightings of deer, elk, & turkeys. This place is a must see!
Made some Christmas memories to last a lifetime. This cabin really was the perfect December/Christmas getaway our family needed. The cabin was perfect for our family of 5. Even our 3 month old felt right at home. This cabin was everything we expected and than some. Labels around the cabin make it easy to know what when and where to use stuff. The covered patio was perfect for those beautiful snow showers or rainy days. The fireplace warmed our hearts and the cabin perfectly. There's plenty of room about the cabin. The beds were very comfortable and they provided lots of warm blankets for those chilly nights. We enjoyed feeding the deer EVERY day. One deer was friendly enough for the kiddos to feed and pet at the same time. The town is right down the road and a great place to explore or if you need a few more things, shop.
PERFECTION is how we would describe our Christmas getaway here at the Lewis Lodge. Mike and Monica were just a phone call away if and when we needed anything. Thank You. We don't have a bad thing to say about this place and would love to come back. Even if you don't ski, you should check out the Ski area just north of the cabin, about 40 minutes. It's well worth the drive because of the view and snow. There is also a fun family snow tubing area right up the road. I would definitely recommend this cabin for families or even a romantic getaway for couples. We LOVED every bit of it! Thank you :)
We had a very good experience there. The porches both have beautiful views. It's was super quiet and cozy. Perfect for our 10 year anniversary.
My wife and I recently celebrated our one year anniversary at the Lewis Lodge and very much enjoyed our stay! It brought back many nostalgic feelings of summers and winters spent at my childhood cabin in Alto, NM. The owners were very responsive to any questions we had and were easy to communicate with. The cabin is located less than a mile from the main shopping drag but it is tucked up far enough in the woods that it feels remote and relaxing. If you are interested in being close to Ski Apache it is only a 10 minute drive to the entrance road!
The cabin came equipped with everything that we needed to relax and was very clean when we arrived. Wildlife was abundant and the owners have provided deer feed if you'd like to feed them. Some of the families of deer around the cabin were very gregarious even when I was being loud and cooking on the propane grill outside.
There is a diner that we ate two of the mornings we were there called the Log Cabin Restaurant. Very good! If you would rather cook however, there is an Albertson's less than 10 minutes away (also a Walmart).
Some of the things we did during our stay that we'd recommend/avoid:
White Sands National Park - 60 minutes drive (amazing to watch the sun set/moon rise here. Monthly events, check their website).
Hike Monjeau Lookout - While the 2012 fire wiped out all of the trees around this ranger tower and I almost didn't recognize it from my childhood it was still very awe-inspiring!
Ski Apache - because it was summer when we went we were able to take the Gondola to the top of the mountain and do some hiking. If you go to the peak you can see in all directions, 360 degree view. If the weather is good you will be able to make out the El Mapais lava flats stretching out for a hundred miles as well as White Sands.
Log Cabin Restaurant - mentioned above
Cafe Rio - tasty thin crust pizza. slices are HUGE!
Sacred Grounds - great coffee, food, and view off the back patio. Also had live chill music playing when we were there.
Inn of the Mountain Gods - Wendell's - my wife and I ate our anniversary dinner here and while it was good it wasn't worth the price point. The service was lackluster and the food was "meh". I got the tomahawk steak and wasn't that impressed. Also, both cocktails I ordered were not made very well. However, if you're a gambler (we aren't) then I'm sure there is more to do for you here
Nice cabin in upper canyon area of Ruidoso! We stayed for a weekend to get away from the scorching Dallas temps. This fit the bill nicely. The cabin has a nice feel that it is deep in the woods, but it is actually only a couple minutes from town. All amenities are included. Cable tv, coffee maker, laundry room, etc.
The main drag in Ruidoso is Sudderth. Lots of neat shops and a few places to do some wine tasting. Also, the ranger station is close by, and we were able to stop by and get a map of hiking trails. Found a nice one only a couple miles behind the ranger station.
We had deer come by both mornings, and deer corn is left in the porch to use. Had a deer eat from my hand! There is a porch in the front and back, we enjoyed wine and coffee there.
For breakfast both days we had Log Cabin restaurant. Really good, and only a couple minutes from cabin. We also had dinner at Texas Club. Not bad, but not the best atmosphere. Food was good though.
On our 2nd night, we made the 15 min drive to Inn of the Mountain Gods. Dinner at Wendalls was superb! Highly recommend. Upper end place, steaks, seafood, etc.
The cabin sleeps 6, and we were only a couple, but it still fit the bill. Just bring a couple bottles of wine and you will be happy with Lewis Lodge!
We stayed at Lewis Lodge with family and friends and although the loft was a bit cramped for adults they said they were comfortable and it would be perfect for kids. The bedrooms were roomy with storage availability. The layout of the house is great and beautifully designed. The use of two relaxing decks was nice and we easily settled into a pattern. The location in the lower upper canyon was super quick for venturing out to restaurants and the racetrack and downtown especially on a busy and populated holiday weekend. Best of all ...the home owners, Monica and Mike were absolutey THE BEST!!!
We really liked this house. It was off the beaten path and had a large deck on the front and in the back. We saw lots of wildlife and birds and really enjoyed just chilling on the back deck. The house is very nicely furnished and the owners were very accommodating. The driveway is a little tricky, but the owner has cleared a level spot at the top of the stairs for the faint of heart. We would rent this again.
Located in the popular Upper Canyon area. Walking distance to Ruidoso River and Black Forrest.
