Ultimate Small Retreat for Nature Lovers

  • 5 of 5

Photos really do not convey the wide ranging beauty and grandeur of this private spot. The back deck offers incredible sunsets over the ridges--and because of the position and expanse, also allows a morning coffee drinker a chance to watch the sun rise. There are acres to wander undisturbed and deer families visit each day. I couldn't use the inviting outdoor fire area next to the pond because of the outdoor fire ban, but the wonderful indoor fireplace was a more than adequate stand in. Be aware that this cabin is small inside--the only walls are for the bathroom and the open loft bedroom affords no privacy so this might not work well for visitors other than a couple or single if privacy is important. But the interior is more than lovely--and the kitchen is a good size, is well stocked and holds a large dining table. The Internet was an issue on my visit, but the owner was as helpful as was possible. My only disappointments were 1. The cleaning crew only do a surface job--there was a disturbing 1/2" of grease and gunk under the microwave that hung above the stove and the fridge wasn't very clean. 2. I've never slept on a more uncomfortable bed than the one downstairs in the LR area. When I had guests overnight using the loft, I actually preferred sleeping on the small love sea serving as the couch--even with my feet hanging off, it was more comfortable than the bed. The loft bed was good though. Regardless of those small issues, I would not hesitate to stay again, and it was really tough to leave. This is an amazing, almost magical, spot convenient to both sides of the Big South Fork RR, Jamestown and Oneida. The owner, Misti, is pleasant and very responsive. If you go, I think that huge deck and breathtaking view will be one of your favorite places on Earth--it is mine.

The perfect getaway.

  • 5 of 5

I needed a mini vacation from work and school, I was nervous about staying all the way out there by myself (and my dog), but I didn't feel uneasy at all! The property was gorgeous. It rained on and off one of the days that I was there but the cabin was so cozy, I didn't mind being stuck indoors for a few hours. I will definitely be back!

This was our 2nd time at the cabin and it was just as wonderful as last year. Can't wait to return!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin on the ridge! This was our 2nd year here for Thanksgiving and it was even better this time around. Once there you don't even need to leave. Tons of trails and land to explore, you can fish in the pond, and build a nice fire at night. If you like hiking there are some really great trails nearby as well as brimstone. Not a ton of food options so bring food to cook on the fire or the grill. We can't wait to come back next year and explore the land and surrounding area more! Thanks again Misti!

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay and hope to return. The cabin is lovely, and the property is beautiful. The deck and the view, however, take it over the top.

Cozy cabin with beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5

My husband could not have picked a more perfect cabin for my birthday get-away! We enjoyed this cozy cabin and decor with comfortable furnishings and bedding. We also had fun exploring the property and fishing in the pond. We enjoyed the views as we grilled and ate on the deck of this amazing secluded cabin on the hill. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed in terms of pots, dishes and linens. The weather was perfect for our stay! We will return!

Great Cabin on a hill

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here before this spring.

It has all of the things you need for a great stay. There is a nice pond and lots of land to explore. We enjoyed the fact that it had WIFI and it is very well maintained.

We will return
