We are an Australian family who have had 10 years of adventures in NYC. We have lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn and have loads of advice for anyone arriving as a tourist or expat. Having rented many vacation/holiday homes and apartments over the years, we know what makes your stay special and more enjoyable.
Kylie Mills & Anthony Lennon purchased this apartment in 2015
Our apartment is sparkling clean with freshly made beds and fluffy towels. It features high end finishes and is nicely furnished. Having become tired of vacation rentals being a little tired or not clean, we always ensure the apartment is sparkling clean and we have outfitted it with quality furniture, kitchen equipment and luxury linens.
Our townhouse borders the historical Carroll Gardens area and the newly gentrifying Gowanus area. Stroll around Carroll Gardens and enjoy the beautiful architecture and leafy streets. Every week a new cafe, restaurant or attraction pops up in the Gowanus area. In summer, enjoy the outdoor BBQ bar Pig Beach, wander over to The Palms for a game of shuffleboard or cycle up to Prospect Park. In winter, ice skate and toboggan in Prospect Park. If you have children, there is plenty of outdoor space for them in our garden. Also, on our block is a lovely school playground open to the public on weekends. Nearby on Smith St, is the lovely Carroll Gardens park and playground with a farmers market on Sundays. The new Whole Foods is a 10 min walk away. But best of all, the subway is only 2 small blocks away and is a quick ride into Manhattan.
**Please note that since this apartment has been built and furnished we have had 2 guests who have extended their stays beyond 6 months. It is for this reason we currently only have 2 reviews. Competitive market rent available for monthly renters. Please enquire.
Enjoy Brooklyn like the locals but be only a short subway ride from all the sights and sounds of Manhattan. This property is modern, comfortable, clean and full of character. The friendly owners will provide recommendations for the local area to ensure you make the most out of your Brooklyn stay.
This is a really wonderful two-bed apartment. We have been very happy here for three months with two kids. Everything is brand new, spotless and to the highest spec. The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped. The garden, complete with trampoline, is great. Kylie and her family are wonderful hosts- very warm, friendly and attentive- helping out immediately if there is the smallest problem and making us feel right at home. The area is great and really interesting- lots of nice food shops, restaurants and parks just a short stroll away- but also very easy to get into Manhattan on the F and R trains. It takes me just 25 minutes to get to Washington Square. The nearby public schools are very good too. We would highly recommend this apartment for both short and long term stays. Having stayed in other rentals in New York- this place definitely sets the gold standard.
We spent 9 months in this great apartment while awaiting completion of our condo. It's on the first floor of a 4 story townhouse with the property owners/managers living right above you. The hosts, Kylie and Anthony, were attentive landlords and quick to remedy even the slightest problem. Their aim is to please their tenants. The apartment is new, spotless and well furnished. It has everything you might wish for. FIOS TV and high speed internet. Hosts also welcome the guests to use the back garden, furnished with wrought iron table and chairs as well as loungers. The F and G trains are a few minutes away so you can be in Manhattan in 20 minutes. A couple of blocks away are Smith and Court Streets, justly known as Carroll Gardens' prime commercial streets, with shops, bars and restaurants. You're also about 6 blocks away from Brooklyn's Whole Foods. If you have a car there is a gated lot (separately managed) directly across the street, although many people find street parking sufficient. This is a true "home away from home." You won't want to leave.
New building, new apartment, excellent furnishings, spotless clean and well organized, the big and pleasant surprise came when we tried to put some food into the fridge. It was already stocked with bread, different cheeses, yogurt, meats and beer. A nice bottle of wine on the counter and countless little welcome notes, explaining every detail of the apartment, possible places to eat with remarks about the quality of food to expect and sightseeing options with detailed descriptions on how to get there and how to etc etc. The experience was overwhelming, especially once I figured out that Kylie the landlady has also to take care of her 2 young children, thus such extra work must be fed from a deep sense of hospitality, love and compassion for travellers.
Thus said, this place is my new standard and I would walk barefooted a few miles to get the same "home away from home" feeling anywhere else in the world.
Thanks Kylie with all of our 4 old hearts!
My husband & I were moving back to New York after a 3 year stint in Toronto. However, this time around, we had a toddler in tow! As a result, we were looking for a temporary accommodation to help us better familiarize ourselves with Brooklyn all while still giving us the NY amenities we had grown accustomed to - nearby access to subways, shops, restaurants, Whole Foods, parks and a charming/friendly street energy. Well, with this lovely Brooklyn rental, we found it! The apt is wonderfully appointed and checks all the boxes. So much so that our initial plan was to stay for 1-2 months and we are sadly moving out after a 6 month stay. Our toddler loves the spacious backyard which we also enjoyed for alfresco meal times. The interior is brand new with top of the line applicances (full washer and dryer!) and has a stylish decor (beautiful tile!). And we can't say enough about our landlords! They are an amazing family who are the most courteous and responsive when it comes to tending to the needs of their tenants. Truly, they have gone above and beyond for us!
So all while we are sad to leave (read VERY sad!), we are excited for the next tenants to experience the charm, intimacy and loveliness of this Brooklyn abode. It's the perfect temporary accommodation for a couple in transition, adventure seeking grandparents, a young couple needing an at-home office space, or a family like us...with a toddler that needs a green space to run around in, amongst the concrete jungle.
Conveniently located in the trendy and family friendly area of Carroll Gardens and Gowanus, Brooklyn. Close to the fabulous restaurants and bars and eclectic shopping on Smith and Court Streets. Explore the exciting new urban attractions around the Gowanus canal and wander the leafy picturesque historical district of Carroll Gardens. Only a short subway ride to all the sightseeing in Manhattan. Grab some groceries at the nearby Whole Foods and have dinner in our peaceful back garden.
