We have free parking on site, which is rare in Boston. We are a 3-minute walk to grocery stores, subway, hardware store, bookstore and many restaurants. Our neighborhood is located on a quiet street, while providing the convenience of being literally steps to the Red Line Porter Square train station. We are about 15-minute walk to Harvard (or 1 stop after walking directly to the subway station across the street). If you take the subway or bus, you can get to Harvard in less than 10 minutes. Red Line also takes you directly to downtown Boston.
We are also close to MIT/Kendall Square (3 stops), Central Square (2 stops), and downtown Boston (4 stops). There are many shops, bars and restaurants across the street near the subway station.
You will be able to walk to grocery stores and pharmacy near the subway station in less than 5 minutes minutes, so you may enjoy the comfort of a quiet neighborhood and the convenience of shops nearby. Depending on what you're hoping to do while in town, we are happy to make suggestions and help you have the best time possible when you visit.
Getting around
Our location is very convenient for going to Harvard, MIT, downtown Boston (Fenway Park, Copley, the Convention Center, etc). Parking can be tricky in Boston so public transportation is popular here. Thankfully we have free parking on site and we are steps to both bus stops and subway stations. Besides public transit and driving, Cambridge and Boston are also bike-friendly cities. Everything you need is 3-minute walk away from grocery stores, subway, restaurants, bookstore, hardware store, etc.
Commuting to downtown Boston:
Downtown Boston is just 4 subway stops away. We are about 3-minute walk to Red Line Porter Square Station if you want to go anywhere downtown.
Commuting from the Airport:
If you're coming from the airport, we recommend taking Uber which is much cheaper than taxi and will take you to our place about 20 minutes, or a little over 20 minutes depending on the traffic. If you prefer to take public transportation from the airport, you'd take the free Silver Line 1 to the South Station and then take the Red Line inbound (towards Alewife). Uber is much easier if you will be carrying luggage.
We're happy to make more specific recommendations based on how you're arriving or where you'd like to go.
