Our unique chalet with this beautiful apartment CARPE DIEM ***** is located directly on the lake and offers breathtaking views of the mountains and deep blue Lake Brienz. It is Characterized Firstly by the wonderful location right on the promenade, on the other hand it is very centrally located. The house is just 2 minutes walk from the bus-and train station, in the mountain station Brienz-Rothorn, the boat station and the tourist office. Shops, bank, etc. only 3 minutes walk from the chalet !! 20 minutes drive from Interlaken, 45 min from Lucerne and Bern, 1 1/2 hour from Zurich airport, 2 hours from Genève .. 1 apartment at the ground floor on 2 floors for max 7 pers. Carpe Diem *****, a gorgeous 5 room holiday apartment (160m2), on 2 floors in chalet Romantica, directly at the lake in the center of Brienz with a breathless view at the crystal waters and mountains from Haslital to Interlaken. The house is just 2 minutes walk from the Brienz-Rothorn train station, the boat station and the tourist office. Shops, bank etc. only 3 minutes walk from the chalet !!

Wonderful apartment in a fantastic location

Six of us stayed at Carpe Diem after a river cruise, and we had a wonderful time. Monique, our landlady, was very friendly and helpful through out the booking process and during our stay. She let us leave our luggage until check in and helped us shop for Swiss fondue ingredients which she told us how to make. She was one of the nicest owners I have stayed with.

The apartment was 3 bedroom and one full and one half bath. We could have used another bathroom, but we managed OK. The bedrooms were comfortable with heated floors and cheerful decor. There was a washer and separate dryer which worked well, but was very slow in normal European fashion.

Upstairs has a fully equipped kitchen with very nice appliances and eating area, a formal dining room and a large living area with a bay window and French doors opening onto a porch overlooking Lake Brienz. Absolutely beautiful view!

The location couldn't be better. The apartment is 10 yards from the water, 30 yards from the ferry dock, and 50 yards from the train station. We travelled on Lake Brienz and to the Schilthorn, Interlaken, and Lucerne while using this as our home base with no problems at all. We also explored Brienz and enjoyed it's small town charm. We thought it was much nicer to stay here than in a large town as we could walk up the street to the grocery store, bakery, or whatever.

The only problem we had was with our deposit and payment. Because of a quirk in Swiss banking, Monique couldn't take paypal or credit card, so we had to do a fund transfer. Monique couldn't have been nicer- she let us wait to send the deposit so we could just buy one transfer.

We all enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to see Switzerland. Monique has several apartments at this location so she can accommodate from 2 to a large group. I just wish you could see my pictures, but they are as pretty as the ones on the website. Yes, the water really is that color.
