Description

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday home in Santa Fe - Old Santa Fe Trail Casita

Super Comfortable, 1 Bedroom With 2 Private Patios, Heart Of Historic Santa Fe

This private and spacious Territorial style casita (built in 1929) rests on a large, gated property right off the historic Old Santa Fe Trail, in the heart of Santa Fe, New Mexico. This highly desired location is picturesque, quiet and very convenient to downtown, while still maintaining that feeling of being within the vast New Mexico landscape. The Plaza, with its world-renowned restaurants and stores, is just 1.8 miles away, Museum Hill and the Santa Fe Botanical Garden are within walking distance, .7 miles away, and legendary Canyon Road is 2.4 miles away. For adventurers, there are numerous hiking and biking trails close by, and skiing at the Santa Fe Ski Basin is a 35-minute drive.

This hidden gem’s interior is thoughtfully decorated with an inspired mix of historic elegance and modern luxury. There are three exterior doors and many windows for creating a light and airy atmosphere. On the other hand, the windows have wooden blinds and curtains for those restful times when you need it dark and cozy. The interior is complete with a kiva fireplace, Saltillo tile floors, a spacious living room with a comfy leather couch, an additional sitting room with a pull-out sofa, a bedroom with a king size mattress (Stearns and Foster, with 700 thread count sheets), a surprisingly large walk-in closet, a full bath with luxury linens, and a well-equipped kitchen suitable for fine cooking. The modern kitchen includes a Bosch refrigerator, microwave, electric stove, Keurig, French Press and Italian espresso coffee makers, and a Bosch washer and dryer.

Setup as the ultimate retreat, the casita is equipped with high-speed Internet, Apple TV, Netflix and a DVD player, all on flat screen televisions setup in the living room and bedroom. There is also a stereo for CD's, AM/FM radio and MP3 players.

What really sets this casita apart are the two private rose garden patios for your exclusive use, which include a traditional portal with a full-size dining table and chairs, a smaller table and chairs, and two lounge chairs and a BBQ grill. The patios have partial views of the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and are perfect for lounging, grilling and dining.

We think you will love our well-appointed casita any time of the year. Santa Fe has many summer events, including the International Folk Art Market (a short walk away), the world-class Santa Fe Opera, Spanish Market, Indian Market, weekly Farmer’s Market and many more. The Fall is quite spectacular with the smell of roasting chile perfuming the streets, and it’s the perfect time to hike while the Aspens and foliage are changing color in and around the city. In the winter months you’ll find Santa Fe lit by farolitos at night, and by day, you can enjoy breathtaking skiing, winter wonderland snowshoeing, and take part in numerous, festive holiday events. Finally, spring brings new growth and fantastic weather for hiking, biking or horseback riding in the great outdoors. Whether it’s taking an art or cooking class, browsing the galleries, checking out local bands and nightlife, relaxing at a spa, or just enjoying your getaway and lounging in the casita, there is always something fun to do in Santa Fe. Additionally, the owners are a great resource for suggestions on activities, dining, and shopping and have provided a very informative book for the casita.

The property has been well maintained by the owner’s family for 3 generations. You’ll understand why New Mexico is called the Land of Enchantment when you experience the unique, rustic beauty of the high desert, the brilliant cobalt skies and extraordinary sunsets while staying in this perfect Southwest casita.

About L.N. Harvey, Owner

Our family has roots in Santa Fe going back to the 1800's, much of it spent on this incredible family property. We are avid travelers; we especially love Italy, the Pacific Northwest, Latin America, NYC and Africa, and have ranged as far from home as Antarctica… but we always love to come home to New Mexico. We are closely involved in the Santa Fe Arts community, and always happy to share our knowledge and lifelong experience with the area to help you enjoy your stay.

Why L.N. Harvey, Owner chose New Mexico

Our property is perfectly located to enjoy all that Santa Fe has to offer, yet very private and peaceful. Our family has lived in the main house (built in 1929) for generations and meticulously cared for the property, including the casita. It is a great place to get a sense of Santa Fe's history & geography. We have easy scenic access to the mountains, so it's an excellent base for exploring the town or the wilderness.

What makes this house unique

Every time you drive through the gate, it feels like you are way out in the New Mexican landscape. But, oops!, forgot that bottle of wine?… There's a gourmet food and wine shop literally 2 minutes away! We think you will LOVE IT!

We didn't want to leave

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were here for close to 2 weeks over Christmas and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The location is perfect -- just a short drive from the Plaza and walking distance from museums. The casita is situated on a very large gated property but is very private with its own fenced yard. It's cozy, beautifully decorated and stocked with everything one could possibly need. We can't say enough about Noel and Gabriel. They are incredibly thoughtful and kind hosts who want you to love Santa Fe and its history as much as they do. We highly recommend the house and will most definitely be back.

Charming and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This is indeed a lovely little house, which we really enjoyed -- very well equipped, excellent support from the owner, and lots of beautiful things to look at. It seems far out of town, but it's only a 30-minute walk to the Plaza (and 15 minutes to the farthest museum on Museum Hill).

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect place to stay - loved it! From the gorgeous decor to the thoughtfully stocked kitchen, there's no place else I'd rather stay in Santa Fe. It's secluded and safe, but so close to museums and downtown. They thought of everything when setting up the casita and if I could live there, I would!

Great Romantic Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in Santa Fe, and this casita was perfect. It is close to the Santa Fe Plaza, but is still secluded and private. We had a relaxing time and the kitchen had everything we needed for a romantic dinner. The garden area offered a great space for morning coffee. We love spending time in Santa Fe and this location is perfect for site seeing. We will definitely come back.
