About the property

Beautiful Cabin on Kangaroo Lake In Door County w/Dock, 4 Bdrm, 2.5 Bath

Come enjoy our recently renovated 1,500 sq. ft. lake house on Kangaroo Lake. This home maintains its original 1940's cottage charm with the classic Door County stone fireplace, cedar walls, and wood floors. The house comfortably accommodates 8-12 guests with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The dining room has a lakeside view and seating for 12. There is plenty of space for outdoor dining, lawn games, and relaxing. *Satellite TV and WiFi provided*.

The first floor master bedroom has a queen size bed, its own private bathroom and a patio facing the lake. The upstairs has 3 bedrooms and another full bathroom. The first bedroom has 2 twin beds, the second bedroom has a full bed, and the large third bedroom which faces the lake has a queen size bed and full futon. There is also a queen size sofa bed in the living room and a half bathroom on the first floor.

Kangaroo Lake is an 1,156 acre, spring-fed lake with a maximum depth of 12 feet. Catch fish from the dock, causeway or one of the boats provided (canoe, kayak, paddle board, and fishing boat). The lake's sandy bottom is ideal for wading and playing in the water. The water temperature is nice and warm around 15 degrees warmer than Lake Michigan.

The lake house is just minutes away from a golf course, restaurants, shops, and entertainment. There is much to do in Door County, but you may be content to spend the day at the lake house, playing in the water, boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, or just relaxing. At the end of the day enjoy watching the sun set over the lake or sitting by the campfire.

This place is great for families with small children as we do provide pack'n play, stroller, and high chair for your convenience.

The lake house books quickly. Contact us today to reserve your lakeside vacation.

About Ryan and Maureen Sundeen

My wife and I met at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and now reside in the Twin Cities with our three children. We enjoy traveling and exploring new places.

Ryan and Maureen Sundeen purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Ryan and Maureen Sundeen chose Baileys Harbor

Our family vacationed in Door County and fell in love with the area. We were very excited to be able to purchase this beautiful property on the lake to spend time together with our family and share with others who visit the area.

What makes this cottage unique

Beautiful waterfront property on the "quiet" side of the peninsula but centrally located to everything that Door County has to offer.

Everything a family needs!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 adults, a toddler and newborn stayed here for a week in early June. The house was sparkling clean and attractively furnished, and has a roomy kitchen stocked with everything you need if you want to cook there, including salt, pepper, a full spice rack, etc. In fact, I'd check in to the house before getting groceries & essentials, because there's more there than you'd expect. Newer appliances all work fine. No dishwasher, but we used paper plates most of the time. Plenty of hot water for everyone to shower. The wi-fi was great. We really enjoyed the big table on the screened porch so we could all eat or play cards together. The toddler loved the backyard and all the toys and flotation devices for kids. (Little ones must be supervised 100% when in the yard of course, due to Hwy E adjoining the lot and the lake access.) The sunset views and all the boats/kayak/canoe were a big plus. The fishermen/women in our group went out 3 or 4 times, but saw no pan fish in Kangaroo Lake, so maybe this isn't a fishing destination, but otherwise, this is a great property for a family vacation. The owners are quick to respond to any questions and to remedy any concerns you might have.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at our cabin. It is important to us that our cabin is clean for our renters and the kitchen is stocked well to make it like home. We have 3 little kids, so we try to provide fun toys, pack n play, booster seat, etc to make it easier on families. Thank you again for staying at our cabin.

Fantastic family retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We will definitely be returning! The cabin is very well kept and cozy! We took our family there with 3 young children and had so much fun. Located very close to a number of different activities: state parks, fun restaurants, art project shops, petting zoo's, wineries, brew pub, and more.....Loved our time here.

Fall weekend

  • 4 of 5

Nice location on the quiet side of Door County. On the lake with use of a boat, kayak, and paddleboard is a plus. Two nice size bedrooms and two smaller bedrooms fit 10 of us fairly well. Owners were helpful and accommodating.

Rustic, plenty of room, great for families with children or group of friends.

  • 4 of 5

Need blinds that cover the windows. Some don't fit right. Minor, really. This is a lot for the money if you use the water toys, boat, stand up paddle board, kayak, etc. I was with an older group and weather was nice, but windy. Has ample parking including a garage. Fire pit, patio, nice TV, washer and dryer, all the amenities and more. It really has a lot to offer. It is a little far from shopping, etc, otherwise this is a great spot.

Lakeside was great for our girls' weekend

  • 4 of 5

6 of us enjoyed the waterside chats and table side coffee each day. There were plenty of beds and seating for us all. We wished the fireplace worked in the cozy living room though. The home has great character and the kitchen was well stocked for our meals but wished we had more prep space in the kitchen. We had some issues with wifi and internet streaming music but that was ok. There was quite a bit of traffic still on County E next to the house for the end of September so I'm not sure any of us would have liked that during the summer months. The cottage functioned well for our group and met our needs. The yard is at lake level and manicured nicely and I can see why families love to stay here in the summer with their little ones.....very shallow and safe. Note: bring your own firewood, beach towels and any bath & hand towels and washcloths as those are not provided (as it states in the agreement).

Our lovely stay at Kangaroo Lake

  • 5 of 5

This was a beautiful, spacious vacation cabin, right on Kangaroo Lake. We enjoyed staying in a quiet getaway, yet being centrally close to all the Door County sights and activities ... basically a 10 - 15 minute drive to Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, Sister Bay, Ellison Bay, and all the tourist attractions. It was nice to be out of the hub-bub though, and just a stones throw away from central Bailey's Harbor. The owners were very responsive and supportive of our needs, and responded quickly to any requests or questions. It was also very nice to have a washer and dryer on site. The cabin is well stocked with everything we needed to cook and prepare meals. We equally enjoyed eating out at the great restaurants in the area, and also sharing nice home cooked meals with a beautiful lake view from the dining room window. The only item that would have been a good addition to the cabin would have been a dishwasher, but that's a small draw-back to all the benefits we experienced, and memories made at this beautiful vacation home. Thanks to Ryan and Maureen Sundeen for making this available to us, and helping us make some beautiful memories to cherish. Arter Family, Peru, IL
