|Minimum Stay||3 - 4 nights|
Beautiful executive four-bedroom home of 4,000 square feet on two levels, furnished with many antiques and oriental rugs. The main level includes a recently renovated gourmet kitchen with adjoining breakfast area that opens to a large two-level deck. The master bedroom suite on this floor includes a tiled bathroom and large dressing room with many closets. The large guest bedroom, also on this level, opens into its own private bathroom. The formal dining room and spacious living room both have picture windows looking out through the woods and golf course beyond, with a fireplace in the living room. The deck is ideal for meals or entertaining, peaceful with a nice view and visits by deer and birds. This entire level is flooded with natural light from the many windows. On the lower level are two additional bedrooms with another complete bathroom. On this level the game room includes a pool table and dart board, and the spacious family room, with its picture window and full bookshelves, is ideal for casual entertaining or relaxing. The house works well with kids downstairs, adults upstairs. The private 1.5 acre grounds are attractive and provide direct access to walking trails, cross-country skiing, and practice golf holes. This four-season location is great in winter (skiing, snowshoeing out the back door), spring (hiking, kayaking), summer (swimming, boating), and autumn (the fall foliage is famous) . The Ivy League member Dartmouth College is one mile away and provides a constant flow of sporting contests, cultural events and entertainment. Regular lawn work and snow plowing are provided. We are non smokers and do not permit smoking in the house.
We went to Hanover to visit my daughter at Dartmouth. This was a great trip. The house is clean and comfortable and has everything you need! The owners are very attentive and even leave you a welcome basket. We will be back!!
We had a wonderful stay at Brigid's home. It was a very large two story house that more than accommodated my husband, two kids, and parents during a Tuck reunion weekend. There was a large backyard that backed up against a lovely walking trail which provided ample room for my toddler to run around and burn off energy. We loved that we could easily walk into mainstreet Hanover and over to Tuck from the home. It is also an easy drive to Quechee and Woodstock where we enjoyed all that Vermont and New Hampshire has to offer in the Fall. Brigid and her husband were very accommodating and available. I was grateful that they had a very thorough welcome letter, checked in with us when we got there , answered any questions we had, and made sure we had a great time while staying in their home. They even helped tracked down a Pack N Play for our baby to sleep in. And, they also had a lovely welcome basket with local goodies which was a very nice surprise. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying at their home and we will certainly reach back out to Brigid and Bob when we return to Hanover in the future.
We ADORED our stay in Brigid & Bob's beautiful home. This stay was a d night stop on a US planned trip and was our 'relaxation' stay after visiting Chicago and Boston and before heading on to our final destination. Having only been in the house 5 minutes, the rest of my family (1 adult & 2 children) were all telling me that they didn't want to leave and could we just forget the New York bit and stay here instead!
The house is absolutely gorgeous, spotlessly clean and has EVERYTHING that you could possibly need. Bob and Brigid are super friendly and very experienced Home Exchangers and you can tell this from the attention to detail that they contribute prior to, during and after your stay, to ensure that guests have a great experience.
We particularly loved their back deck where we would have our breakfasts and dinner in such a tranquil and enjoyable setting (felt like we were in our very own nature reserve). Later in the evening, we would have a family pool tournament in the downstairs games room, which our children (teens) particularly enjoyed. We would have happily just stayed in the house for the whole time, however we did venture out and the local area is really beautiful - Dartmouth College is a must see. We would definitely consider returning here again in the future, for longer and exploring a bit further. You won't be disappointed!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Murphy's beautiful, spacious and clean home in Hanover. We were warmly welcomed with thorough instructions for use, and were pleased to have all guests situated with comfortable beds and ample privacy. The backyard is perfect for games and the outdoor barbecue and deck is great for enjoying the beautiful NH air. The setting is close enough to town to walk in, but also in great proximity to Balch Hill and Velvet Rocks hikes and walks. We loved every minute of our stay, and hope that we will be able to return soon!
The Murphy's home was perfect for our family's six days in Hanover. All of the bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped and easily accessible to the deck. Both the dining room and living room are attractively decorated and appealing with lovely views of greenery. Our granddaughter could easily walk to main part of town and therefore be independent of the car. We had a wonderful dinner party (catered by Maple Street Catering!!) for graduation guests.
The Murphys were most welcoming and extremely helpful with directions etc. I would recommend their home to all of my friends!!
We had an amazing vacation at Brigid's home. We were there for a week, with our family and the home was extremely comfortable, and clean and they made it feel like our own. There were very clear directions on how everything worked; the kitchen was stocked with great appliances: blender, coffee maker, tea pot, and more. The rooms were very comfortable. The master and a large bedroom with two twins are on the main floor and then two bedrooms downstairs, one with a full bed and one with two twins so it was easy to put the kids to bed at night and then be able to still use the main areas without waking them up. Game room and family room downstairs are also a nice addition. Laundry room is huge and important when staying for such a long period.
This is a great house for a big family or group and we would definitely recommend it. It was between 50 and 70 degrees the week we were there in March, so unfortunately we didn't get any skiing done which was our original plan, but there's tons of other activities to do nearby. Great sound system in the living area. The first night we were there, we couldn't get the internet to work, but within an hour it was resolved. We were able to get in touch with the homeowners quickly and they were so quick to resolve it. They are the nicest couple. We are definitely planning on making this a bi-yearly stay.
Dartmouth is about a 15 minute walk and a 2 minute drive which is so convenient. King Arthur Flour was our morning breakfast routine- 5 minute drive. The Montshire, children's science museum is also 5 minutes away. We went food shopping at the Co-op (2 minute drive) which is my favorite supermarket with tons of organic and local produce/products. We spent two days hanging out in Woodstock, VT which is about a 20 minute drive and you have to go to Sugarbush Farm to get your cheese and maple syrup samples. And last but not least, Dan and Whits in Norwich, VT is the greatest store with their slogan of "If we don't have it, you don't need it" which is very true.
