Perfect Place for 1 or 2

  • 5 of 5

If you need a getaway or a week of peace this is the place to go. Beach [bay waters] at end of your walkway. No crowds. Not busy. The rental unit is tastefully decorated with basic needs. Refrigerator, microwave, electric stovetop, coffee maker, blender, dishes, utensils etc. Dining, living room area flows into bedroom area. Large bathroom with closet, nice shower and washer/dryer. Deck, sliding doors, windows allow for fantastic views of the water, sun and moon. Entrance at top of stairs, outside shower and storage area. Parking for one car. Bikes available as well as kayaks. This was our second trip to the area and staying in property owned by Ms Binzel. Definitely will return as time permits. Our dog loved his time on the beach. Very peaceful area with wooded surroundings, lots of nature. Point Lookout Park within walking/biking distance. Things supplied include: dish detergent, paper towels, trash bags, bed linens, towels, shampoo, shower gel, soap. Bring paper plates, cups, glasses unless you don't mind hand washing dishes.

Relax on vacation with all the comforts of home

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our dog, and I just got back from our stay at the guest house. The property is amazing, beautiful, and only steps from the beach! The house is equally amazing!

We decided that we would buy our own food and cook for the majority of our trip. There wasn't an oven, but an electric range which served our needs perfectly. The kitchen has all the basics you'll need to get the job done. There is a charcoal grill available for use, we cooked pizzas, steak, and chicken on it.

The bed is so comfy as well as the couch, which at first sight I didn't think would be, but ended up being the perfect spot for a mid-afternoon nap!

Having the washer/dryer was so helpful!! I didn't realize they had one so I would have packed a lot less! They even have detergent pods available. I did purchase more and leave them.

If there was one complaint, I mean not even a true complaint, would be the shower. The head was a rain type of shower head and being in the beach there isn't a whole lot of pressure so it took me forever to rinse my hair. There was nowhere to put soap inside the shower. I ended up buying a cheap hanging shower thing because the soap would literally be covered in sand from lying on the shower floor. Even though there is an outside shower to rinse before you come in you will still bring sand in somehow!

Dogs are welcome, but not allowed on the future which is understandable. He enjoyed sleeping under the bed which is set atop a beautiful constructed platform. Our pup had never been swimming before and loved the beach!! Its big enough that you feel like you're by yourself and small enough that if you want to mingle with the guests of the other houses you can easily do so.

I don't know if other guests were bothered, but the horseflies at this time of year were terrible!!! Obviously this is nature and uncontrolled, but they literally were attacking us and the dog the entire trip. When we would look outside at other guests on the beach they didn't seem bothered by these creatures, it could just be us not being used to them.

Overall, we would stay again!!!!

Delightful Setting for a Delightful Vacation

  • 4 of 5

When we arrived at the main beach house and guest house, we were enthralled by the beautiful location and the close proximity of the Chesapeake Bay sandy beach just steps away as well as the secluded setting. There was a fishing pier at the location not available at any other nearby house. We brought a boat with us and launched it at the Point Lookout State Park so were able to get a nice view of the location from the Chesapeake. Ocean kayaks were available for our use and members of our party kayaked to an estuary where numerous crabs were available for the netting and our culinary delight. There was one net at the location and a member of our party had brought another one. The crabs were easy to catch according to the crabbers in our group. We had our crab dinner in that beautiful, very modern setting at the guest house, and other dinners at the main house. While the guest house was coolly air conditioned, when we arrived the temperature inside the main house was 81 degrees and stayed that way during the first night and part of the next day. This problem was solved when repairmen installed a window unit in the main area of the house and set it to 62 degrees. That cooled the house after awhile and kept it fairly comfortable. A new HVAC unit could not be installed during our stay, but hopefully should be ready for future guests. Air was coming through all ducts but was not enough to cool the large house. The jetted tub in the spacious upstairs suite bathroom was not working and could not be repaired during our stay. At our request the property managers had placed a crib for us in the upstairs suite and wooden table high chairs for dining. There was a remote for a DVD player but we could not find the player. Each evening we gathered together to watch a movie and were able to do that with a laptop computer and movies we brought with us and our Netflix subscription, so that solved that problem. It was a five star vacation but merits four stars because of the unexpected problems with the AC. Thank you so much for hosting us.

Delightful Setting for a Delightful Vacation

When we arrived at our beach house at 15210 Lake Drive, Scotland, MD we were enthralled by the beautiful view and the close proximity of the Chesapeake Bay sandy beach just a few steps from the house as well as the secluded setting. A new HVAC unit could not be installed during our stay, but should be ready for future guests. Air was coming through all ducts but was not enough to cool the large house. The accommodations were perfect for us as the family with a one year old stayed in the upstairs suite, while I stayed in the bedroom with an in-suite bath and two others stayed in each of the other bedrooms. The one staying in the sunniest room had a fan over her bed which worked well for her. My room was the coolest as it was fairly small with an air vent in both the bath and room itself. The Jacuzzi in the spacious upstairs suite bathroom was not working and could not be repaired during our stay. The property managers had placed a crib for us in the upstairs suite and wooden table highchairs for eating. There was a remote for a DVD player but we could not find the player. Each evening we gathered together to watch a movie and were able to do that with a laptop computer and movies we brought with us and our Netflix subscription so we solved the no DVD problem. Peace and serenity

  • 4 of 5

Our stay was exactly what we were looking for this year! A place to enjoy the water and relax away from it all. The house was very clean and we found that everything we needed was there. We requested a blender and Peggy made sure that one was available when we arrived. Riding the bikes to the Lookout Point State Park became a daily event. The convenience of the location to the park was perfect and the history of the area was interesting to read about. The old lighthouse is a nice addition to the point and its history. We also enjoyed taking the kayaks out on the bay. . . it offered another way to see and appreciate the point. The outdoor shower is perfect for cleaning up after a day at the beach.

The only negative to the beach was the path and sandy area. There were thorn branches growing right in the middle of the pathway that we tripped over and were cut a couple of times. The sandy area was covered with pine cones and debris. If it were raked off . . .even once a week when the lawn is cut, it would make it a little easier to sit out and enjoy the beach and the water.

Thank you Peggy for a wonderful place to relax and enjoy our time away!

Beautiful quiet vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in the Brudair guest house from 7/23-7/30/16. My husband and I were looking for a quiet getaway with our English Bulldog, and this was a perfect spot for us. This was the first time we had brought our dog on vacation with us, so it was nice to introduce him to the beach in a quiet setting without lots of people around, and it was so convenient to be right on the beach. There isn't much to do nearby, but that was fine for us since we were just looking to relax. The beach was beautiful and very unique with the rocks and also pinecones from the trees. My favorite part of our stay was watching the sunrise almost every morning on the beach, it was beautiful and so nice to be able to walk out your front door and have it right there. I also loved how the beach looked so different each day based on weather or time of day, and enjoyed taking lots of photographs. Point Lookout Park just around the corner was a beautiful spot to watch the sunset, too. We had a really hot week with feels like temperatures of 107 degrees for the first half of the week, so it was a little warm in the cottage, but the fans helped with the A/C unit. The temperature went down a little for the last part of our stay after a crazy thunderstorm and then then it was much more comfortable. Thank you again for your hospitality and we look forward to visiting again!
