Why Ashley Lecas chose St. Augustine

This unique 1928 property was redesigned and rehabbed by the host. Brazilian walnut flooring, pecky cypress ceiling and Havana ceiling fans are just a few of the custom touches. There is high speed WiFi and Cable with 120+ channels (including ESPN). On the waterfront is a beautiful deck, the street side has a nice covered porch with a big table and chairs, overhead lighting and extra seating.

A pricey bachelor pad

  • 2 of 5

This is a tough review to write. The owner of the property, Elliot, was extraordinary guy and was a gracious host. There are really significant pros and cons to this property.

Pros - The location is about a 10 minute walk to St. Georges Street. Being on a small lake, it was fun to watch the mullet jump and the osprey having dinner.

Cons - The decor is blend of personal memorabilia and football items. The second bath doesn't have a real shower, it's a tub with a handheld shower attachment. It was very dusty on light fixtures, ceiling fans and pictures. The yard is a complete mess. The plastic mattress covers were reminiscent of being back at camp when I was a kid. By the time you paid the taxes, cleaning fees and mandatory insurance it was a very expensive two bedroom rental.

I would not rent this property again.

Pretty, restful and serene

  • 4 of 5

Very nice place in a quiet section of town, but not too far from the action. Being on the water added to this very restful place to stay. I'm just sorry that there is an ordinance that does not allow fishing.

Perfect Memorial Day Weekend in St. Augustine

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. The home is immaculate, the decor and attention to detail is impeccable. Jaybird was a pleasure to have as host, offering many great recommendations as to where to eat and things to do. He also goes the extra mile! We had asked if he had wine glasses, as we couldn't find any in the cupboard. He disappears for a few minutes and returns with brand new Riedel glassware! He raced out to buy some so we didn't have to drink our wine out of rocks glasses (which would have been just fine for our "beach" wine"). The cottage is in walking distance to downtown and everything was very accessible. We had a wonderful stay and would return to Jaybird's cottage in a heartbeat! Thank you, Jaybird!

Unique place

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage! It was a unique property in that it is in the historical section of town. All the houses are old. Some are restored and some are not. This property is very clean. All the towels and sheets are new and the kitchen is set up fairly well. It is decorated with unique items. The main bedroom is good size with shower but the second bedroom is small and bathroom is separate with only a tub. This is the only complaint I have about property, it was hard to get ready because you had to climb in and out of small tub and sprayer gets water eveywhere if you not careful. The owner was on site and very helpful
