Had a great time!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed the first week in January. We had a very nice time. House is great, location is great. The golf cart and kayaks were very nice to use. We couldn't believe the amount of shark teeth we found on the beach! They were EVERYWHERE! We even found one in our water shoes when we got home! When we took the kayaks out, we saw dolphins, and a shark! The shark swam under the kayaks, and we were able to touch it! It was a bonnethead shark. We took the kayaks down to the hidden lake. That was fun-a bit of a trip but worth it. The pool was nice, but cold. The pool guy came near the end of the week and said our heater was off...so we didn't swim much. The weather was very chilly, so we had to wear coats or jackets, but it was very beautiful and a good vacation. The transport over to the island is very short, and very expensive. Make sure to bring everything you need, as there is nowhere to purchase items on the island, but it is worth it to not have crowds on the beach. The local people were very friendly. We lost power, but when we called they were quick to respond and got it right back on.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking time to write a review for us! Palm Island is such a beautiful, unique place - your experiences make us all want to vacation!! You are correct that while there is a restaurant on the island and a place to get ice cream, there are no grocery stores, so people generally come to check in with us and go next door to the local grocery to get what they need before heading to the island (just 5 minutes from us to the ferry landing). The ferry keeps the island quaint and uncrowded - and adds to the charm of the tropical escape! So very sorry about the pool heater; it should have been on for your stay. The gentleman who takes care of it is usually very good at checking to see when guests are going to be in place. We have began emailing him a list of dates when the home is occupied so this is never an issue. Unfortunately, however, when we have cooler temps, the pools won't heat to the regular temperature. Please visit with us again - we would love to have you back!

Rainy month in paradise!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our fur kids spent almost a month in this lovely, comfortable home. Quiet but with plenty to do and see, We took full advantage of the pool and kayaks... saw dolphins, manatees and schools of fish swimming past the dock every morning. Our alarm clock was the pair of ospreys nesting in the coconut tree. We ate coconut pudding made with fresh coco from the palm in the yard and I loved cooking in the most fully equipped kitchen we've ever rented. We walked the beach collecting beautiful shells, throwing back starfish and live shells. The furry ones loved the fully screened porch and running up and down the stairs inside. We felt taken care of, from the rental agent to the pool man to the caretaker who came to do some minor repair work. Unfortunately, the weather was abysmal ; we are considering renting again for the same period next year; this time without El Nino!

Just Bring Flip Flops

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent the month of April in this comfortable home. It was four weeks of pure island bliss. Quiet, private, and well equipped with every need supplied, including an excellent golf cart. We fished, floated in the pool, grilled out, and used the backyard fire pit. Twice we spotted manatee from the dock. A turtle burrow was just outside the front door, and we even crossed paths with a bobcat in the parking area.

We wanted to book it again for the same month in 2016 but it was already reserved. Hopefully we'll have another opportunity to spend time again at Fish Tales and Flip Flops.
