When you stay at Mayan Palace, you’ll always enjoy casual and comfortable rooms with gorgeous terrace views of the golf course or ocean. After a day of adventure, return to a turned-down room, ready for rest and relaxation.
The resort offers a variety of activities — including sports, games, and classes — to keep your vacation full of priceless memories and experience. The Riviera Maya features a full selection of live music, shows, sports, classes, tours, fitness activities, and a variety of other ways for you and your family to discover your happiness. Events and activities at this gorgeous destination include ping pong tournaments, nature walks, guacamole-making classes, Casino Night, karaoke, live entertainment in the lobby bar, dinner shows like Fiesta Mexicana, and dance classes by the pool. As always one can simply relaxing by the beautiful pool.
A trip to Vidanta Riviera Maya wouldn’t be complete without taking a night to experience Joya, the bold new fusion of awe-inspiring acrobatics, magnificent live music, and culinary joys by Cirque du Soleil. Joya is Cirque’s first dinner experience, as well as its only resident show in Latin America, and it’s just footsteps away from your Vidanta Riviera Maya resort.
There is a complimentary shuttle service (one way ONLY) from the airport to the resort, that can be arranged by giving the resort your flight information
The Vidanta Mayan Riviera is a very large, beautifully designed property with much to do. However, it is not the ideal spot for younger couples as it is designed like Disney Land - very large and family oriented.
It is perfect for a family as there are many restaurants/activities right on the property - basically you never have to leave. As we are a younger couple without a family - we would most likely not return until we have a family to bring!
As the property is very large - it does take a while to get from point a to point b. There are transport golf carts but they take a while to come - especially in the evening.
There are a LOT of rules on the property which made our stay a tad irritating. As there are different tiered hotels - there are different areas (pool and beach club) that you are only allowed access to if you are in the higher tiered hotels (ie Grand Luxxe has the most luxurious options with a private pool and beach club and Mayan Palace does not have access to anything but the common areas, which in our opinion were not nearly as great).
If you wish to visit Playa Del Carmen for dinner - anticipate a charge of $350 pesos per way for a taxi, as the shuttles do not run past 6pm.
Our favourite restaurants in town were El Fogon (Authentic Local Mexican Tacos), Almirante Pech (cool supper club w/ DJ) and La Fisheria (famous Mexican Chef - Mexican inspired tacos, ceviche and fish).
We ended up staying in the Grand Mayan - an automatic upgrade option upon arrival from the originally booked Mayan Palace. There was not very much difference between the two hotels other than our unit did not have a kitchen and the Mayan Palace units did. The rooms in the Grand Mayan were clean and spacious and included a jacuzzi tub and a balcony.
Service was great due to it not being an all inclusive. The more they serve the more you spend!
If you want to check out the higher end restaurants on the property be sure to make a reservation as most were fully booked during our stay.
