Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday cabin in Townsend - Wildwood

Beautiful rustic cabin in a private wooded parklike setting

Wildwood is located in the beautiful mountain community of Laurel Valley in Townsend TN. Townsend is a gateway community to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, at the Cades Cove Entrance.

As you make your way down the peaceful drive, dodging a bit of wild life as you go, you'll know you've come to a special place. Once inside, you'll notice that everything is just a cut above what you expected. From the leather furniture and primitive decor to the high thread-count linens and luxurious towels, and right down to all the little things you'll find that will make this experience one you'll always remember.

It is our goal to create a tranquil and serene setting that will help our guests unplug and enjoy the spirit of the mountains and the wildlife that lives here. Don't worry...we have provided you with cable TV, telephone and Wi-Fi just in case you can't totally give up the gadgets. Most cell phones have great reception, especially on Verizon.

The cabin is decorated in a primitive theme to match the beautiful interior of hand hewn logs. Nothing says mountain cabin, like a warm evening by at the fireplace; so, when in season, enjoy your evenings by the warmth of the fireplace.

The beautiful kitchen has all the comforts of home with everything you might need to cook full meals, or nuke a burger.

If you love to grill out, we have furnished you with a gas grill to handle those steaks you'll find at the local IGA!

The huge indoor jetted tub will pamper you before slipping into the King Size bed for a great night's sleep. Luxury linens and towels, pillows, and blankets are all supplied. There is a washer and dryer in the cabin for your convenience.

Wildwood has a parklike setting complete with a picnic table and abundant wildlife.

The setting is private and you can enjoy your visitors from the covered porch complete with rockers and swing, or stroll downstairs for an evening in the screened porch.

Wildwood is VERY motorcycle friendly. The access is easy and paved. There is plenty of flat parking. If you are a rider, you'll find Townsend to be a Paradise! Every year thousands visit this area to take advantage of these mountains and the day trips they offer and Wildwood offers a terrific location to take advantage of these trips.

From Wildwood you are only a few short miles from the Cades Cove entrance to the National Park. While staying here, the Park is your play ground.

No matter what you like to do during the day, we hope you will enjoy retreating to the peace and warmth of the cabin at day's end.

It is our hope that you will come to consider Wildwood YOUR home away in the Great Smoky Mountains!

We hope to see you soon.

About Cyndie Cornelius

We arrived in the Smokies over eight years ago. Our first trip was a fly fishing adventure. Until then, my only Smokies adventure had been to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Townsend proved to be an oasis in the mountains. The setting is serene and peaceful and without the trappings of the more recognized areas. Trout were not the only things hooked that weekend... we were as well. Just one year later, we arrived in Townsend to live full time. It took a year to make it happen, but we were determined to make the Smokies our home.

We surely can not imagine living anywhere else. Waking every morning to the sunrise over the mountains, and the sights and sounds of the birds and other wild life living in the area, is an unbelievable experience.

We have in the years since our arrival, started a Real Estate Sales Firm appropriately named, Why the Smokies.

It has been our objective to educate others about the wonders of living here in this beautiful place and if the fit is right, to help them with their goal to move here on a permanent basis, or to find their perfect getaway home here in the Smokies.

Since that time, we have purchased three additional cabins and have done our best to create an environment that will hopefully give our guests a place to call home when they come to visit.

The number of returning guests has grown greatly in the past year.

If your dates of arrival are not available for this cabin, try our other cabins

Smoke Rise, and The Cove also on VRBO. .

Cyndie Cornelius purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Cyndie Cornelius chose Tennessee

When choosing Wildwood, we considered the same qualities that have meant so much to our guests in Smoke Rise and The Cove. It is the parklike, private setting that was the initial draw for us. It is a well maintained cabin that has the warm interior of hewn log and is built by the same builder as our other cabins. This one has a separate bedroom and is just a little different in floor plans as our others. We knew that we could create the feel of the mountains.

In addition, the access is easy and paved and for our motorcycle friends, that is critical.

What makes this cabin unique

It is our mission to maintain our cabins in a manner that will never disappoint. We are VERY local owners and we keep a watchful eye over our retreats. We have stayed in them a number of times ourselves, just to be sure we have not forgotten anything that guests may need to make their stay perfect.

We want you to consider 'Smoke Rise' , The Cove' , or" Wildwood".... your home away from home in the Great Smoky Mountains!!

Perfect vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is perfect. The location was perfect for us, on the quieter side of the Smoky's. It is also near the LaurelValley Golf Course, which is one of the best courses in the area. From the moment we walked in, it felt like home. It has everything that we needed, and then some. From the front porch to the back porch, the decor was what you would expect in an upscale cabin. We will definitely be back!!

Wildwood Cabin in Townsend, Tn

  • 5 of 5

This mountain cabin is in a gated community of vacation homes on a wooded lot close to the end of a road. This small cabin has a combination living room, kitchen and dining room with one bedroom and two bathrooms. The cabin is a perfect retreat for one person or a couple. The furniture and accessories are attractive and comfortable, including very nice linens and a beautiful quilt on the bed. I loved sitting on the porch swing listening to thunder reverberate through the mountains. The Internet and cable tv worked well. Since it was very warm outside, we used the air conditioning which was very comfortable.

Very nice clean cute cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for my husband & I. It was very clean & everything was decorated just like you'd think a cabin should be. I loved the kitchen which looked updated. I will be stealing some of those ideas for my kitchen. Thank you again for a great trip. We will be back to this cabin.

The property represented was the property received and enjoyed!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at numerous properties in our 50+ visits to the Smokies and have rarely been disappointed. The rental companies recognize that satisfied guests are returning guests and recognize the competition. With that being said, my experience with VRBO was exceptional with all transactions being done via email. Wildwood is our new happy place in the Smokies: super clean, great linens and bedding, very well furnished kitchen, great grill, and I could go on and on! You have your choice of a deck, a screened porch or the patio in the back! But for us, as great as all the above is, was the feeling of warmth and intimacy of the cabin; almost as if the cabin loved you back. Oh, and the peace and quiet, while at the same time easily accessible! Five stars++!

We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned home from our 4 days at Wildwood. This is a beautiful cabin in a very peaceful and quiet location. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed having separate bathrooms. The jetted tub was the perfect place to rest and relax after long hikes. I especially enjoyed cooking our breakfasts and dinners with the modern double oven stove. We definitely will return to Wildwood if our travels bring us back to the Smokies!

Townsend Tennessee is a gateway community to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Visitors to Townsend enjoy the Peaceful Side of the Smokies.

Townsend is rich in wildlife. Most visitors come with hopes of seeing the ever popular Black Bear that inhabit the park and surrounding areas.

Smoke Rise is nestled into the woods and private. If you walk down the hill behind the cabin you will find a wonderful creek, moss covered rocks, and a nature path that follows the stream. Here too, you can anticipate the possibility of a critter sighting. There is an abundance of wildlife including Black Bear, Deer, Wild Turkey, Hawks and Owls to name a few. Our property backs to parkland and the results are an abundance of surprises.

You can spend your days critter watching at the cabin or in Cades Cove. You can hike the trails, ride your bike, take photos, fly fish or tube down the Little River. There are a number of tubing providers on the river. Most outfitters will hook you up with a tube and river access. You can float down the river for an hour or so. They will pick you and your tube up and take you back to the starting point, only to do it all again. WOW! what a way to cool off in the hot summer days.

If you ride a motorcycle you will find that Townsend is the BOMB!

There are dozens of day rides from Townsend.

One of our favorites is to leave Townsend through the Park and ride to Gatlinburg. Take a right at Sugarland's Visitors Center and you can ride to Cherokee N.C. Enjoy lunch and head back...time to burn. Don't forget to stop at Newfound Gap and Clingman's Dome and DON'T leave without your camera.

The Foothills Parkway is closer to home. Only a couple of miles from Townsend, this ride takes you across the ridge of the mountain with spectacular overlooks to Chilhowee Lake. From the end of the Parkway, you can take a left and ride the Tail of the Dragon! 318 curves in 11 miles. Not for the faint of heart. If you are not up to that ride, take a right at the end of the Parkway and visit the 129 Harley shop.

A longer ride from that location will take you to Tellico Plains and the Tellico Grains bakery. A great place to enjoy a meal before heading back to Townsend or across the Cherohala Skyway! I could spend hours talking about this so just ask when you call....we may go with you!

Our Cabin is Motorcycle Friendly! Easy access and paved all the way!

A short 30 minute ride from Townsend will land you in Pigeon Forge. A great place to visit, but NOT the quiet side by any stretch of the imagination. It is the center for entertainment and shopping in the Smokies. Home to the Tanger outlets, countless entertainment spots, restaurants and the ever popular Dollywood!

Come join us in Townsend! On the Peaceful side of the Smokies.

We will look forward to hearing from you.
