great location; house has some quirks

  • 3 of 5

This house is in a great location in the south part of Yosemite. There were a number of small problems that made the stay less than ideal - these would all be very easy to fix, so hope that the management fixes them! In that case it would be a great place to stay.

cons:

* spotty internet - while the signal looked good (4-5 bars) actually usage was very spotty. It worked only about half of the time.

* hot tub was locked - had a key which was not included in our packet. One night when we wanted to use it we had to call maintenance, wait 30 min for them to call us back, then drive to the office to pick up a key.

* fireplace was locked - the sign on fireplace said to call maintenance to ask for the handles to unlock. Same deal as with the hot tub (but on another night) - had to call maintenance, wait 30 min for them to call us back, only for them to tell us the handles were hidden in a basket above the fireplace. Why not just leave the handles out?!

* the house didn't have any of the "make your life easier" things - often rental houses will have sugar, paper towels, shampoo. It didn't have any of these

* strict 10a check out, with minimal flexibility to extend (they gave us until 10:30). 11a/12p checkouts have been the norm at other places I've stayed

pros:

* nice part of the park - quieter than the valley, peaceful

* the house is part of the "Redwoods in Yosemite", which has probably 100 cabins in the south part of the park. You are very close to other cabins and houses, but the area still feels peaceful and remote

* the trailhead for an awesome 8 mile hike (Chilnualna Falls) is just 1 mile down the road

* nice living room with high ceilings; 3 BR (with queen/king beds) + the extra 2 twin beds in loft give lots of sleeping options

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We sorry to hear you had a few issues at the cabin. All the hot tubs have locks on them for safety issues. The hot tub key is given to you when you check in. There is one Emergency Maintenance Person on call 24/7 and that takes late night Emergency Calls in the order they come in. The fireplace was closed and the handles put in a basket because the home had been on winter shut down. When it was opened for the season, the handles were overlooked. We do have a strict check out time because the homes turn over just about every 3 days and the housekeepers need to get in and clean them as soon as they can. 120 cabins are cleaned and prepared every week, some get cleaned a second and third time each week. Again, we are sorry your stay wasn't quite as good as you hoped, but we do hope to see you again soon.

We hit the Yosemite stay jackpot

  • 5 of 5

This place far exceeded our expectations. What sold us was the large living room and tall ceilings which made it feel so much more open and cozy. The large wrap around deck is a huge plus too sitting out there in the morning and drinking coffee while staring up at these huge trees was amazing. We Came into a super clean place after a long drive. Fired up the jacuzzi while we BBQ'd and got to relax the night away. Loved the large open kitchen and the beds were comfy too. I seriously can't say enough good things about this place. It was walking distance to a great hike which we loved. Another perk is the office is not far so if you need anything they are just down the road. The wifi is not great but it was perfect because it forces you to disconnect and put the phone down. Next time we come to Yosemite 92R is the spot we are going to come back to.

Great cabin in the woods

  • 4 of 5

This is our third stay in Redwoods in, we stayed at a different cabin the first two times. In general the cabin was great and exactly as advertised except for the non-working Jacuzzi. This was the only disappointment as we planned on using the Jacuzzi during our 4 day stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are sorry the Jacuzzi was not working. We did not know this until one of our employees reported it. We like for our guests to report any problems with the cabins right away, so that we can repair them for the guests' use. Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience.

Wonderful environment!

  • 5 of 5

Everyone in our group loved the cabin and the environment. It was easy to check-in, the firewood was ready and dry, and the cabin was ready to go! We all had a relaxing time and we appreciate the great home. There is no doubt we would stay there again! Thank you!
